How to make unis Part 2 1.0

   (2 reviews)

About This File

This is part 2 of the tutorial.Which has the nagging green screens,.Its all basic and theres more to it than what i have but this all should be a help to get started. The rest of the tricks etc ill let u all learn.Once u have the basic idea then the rest should fall into place.Probally the hardest part is the green screens for the caps as sometimes they wanna give a hard time in the alpha channels because some seem to not wanna allow u to work in that channel while other cap files it seems to do ok, Thos blank files ive added probally will be a big help

Great job Don. I've always admired the jerseys you put out-- you're like the Steven King of jersey modding--and it was really interesting to see how you do it since I had to figure out a lot of the same tricks.

Much of what I do doesn't port over because I use Gimp instead of Photoshop, and I haven't worked on any jersey mods since 2k10 (I just bought 2k12 but the graphics are so terrible I'm having a hard time convincing myself to switch).

I think I had most or all of your jerseys from 2k10 downloaded. Other than having way more Pirates options than times I ever played against the Pirates, I made a point then of opening them up and seeing how you did things. Remember when you used to just wipe the green-screen with a rub tool or something? Good times.

Unless 2k12 is very different, your green screen technique might be tweaked a little bit. After you emboss, just reverse the colors of the whole thing and then reset to green. Another way I've been playing with is to erase color--basically anything black is 50% colored to alpha. It's not perfect yet but I used that when making the new Blue Jays unis for 2k10 and I got some neat effects with the logo. Subtle, but neat.

If I can add one suggestion to your modding, it's not to use perfect white, ever. The game makes it too reflective and you're too reminded you're playing with a modden uniform. A little bit of color in the uniform makes it unique. The teams themselves often have very subtle color differences in their whites and grays (put a Tigers gray against a Yankees sometime)

Early on I created a file for GiMp with an off-white, plain uniform, and layers to give me options like pinstripes or different types of collar and buttons. A little secret about my mods: most of them are originally Dodger whites (someone in San Francisco just puked).

Also you didn't mention the black screen yet--the one where you specified matte finishes and the like by denoting reds and greens. Is that gone from this edition?

thnx i appreciate suggestions most everything has been just out of luck ive found it.Matter of fact even tonite i stumbled on something that i have to add some text to the first tutorial.Sometimes i ran into probs trying to work on alpha channels just to get a message that i couldnt use the brush tool.I accidently clicked right click on the alpha and found if i duplicate it then i can work on the duplicate and erase the original lololol

the black screens with the green and red are longer part of the modding sequences.

I think the worse thing they changed starting from last year is they masked the numbers red could be orange blue could be green and green could be blue lolol and thank God for ty being able to by pass this using the roster editor. This is one reason i upload 2 of each file. One for those who dont have tys editor and those that do.The ones who has the program has access to correct color schemes
