About This File
Here is the 1971 Baltimore Orioles white double-knit home uniform set. The 71 Birds started wearing these while alternating every other day with their previous white flannels that they wore last during Game 5 of the 1970 WS which they beat the "Big Red Machine". The Orioles All-Stars wore this uniform in the mid-summer classic which the AL finally won after quite a few losses. Frank Robinson, Brooks Robinson, Jim Palmer, and Mike Cuellar made the All-Star team with Frank winning the MVP Award. These uniforms were worn the rest of the season through the ALCS, the World Series, and until the late 80's. They would be worn in 2 more W.S.'s against the Bucs in 1979 and a win in 1983 against the Phillies (nicknamed the Wheeze-Kids for having older players on the team in the likes of Pete Rose, Joe Morgan, Tony Perez, and others. I tried to be as authentic as possible by using Bill Henderson's program "Game Worn MLB Jerseys". I want to thank KC for his templates and all the others who spearheaded the uniform modding. Enjoy!!! Version 3a: The above cap was used for its emblem. Supposedly, the cap was a game-worn one used by manager Earl Weaver according to the auction description. I also found an official helmet emblem off of Google photos. I also enclosed a game-worn helmet of Paul Blair where you can see the similarities. Some of the emblems were also painted on that were very makeshift.
Enjoy,
