About This File

Pre-season MLB roster to date for 2017.  There are a few LRP's for which I have no data at release of this roster set.

THESE ARE FOR MLB ONLY!  This is not a minor leagues roster.  This is why you will see many players name "Placeholder" because that's exactly what they are....place holders.  However, all teams do have 25 players and therefore you should be able to turn on injuries and suspensions without crashing.

I have adjusted pitchers during this past off season so that most pitchers do not have 3+ strong pitches.  Also, a good number of speedsters were brought down a bit in speed.

If anyone see any jersey numbers, batting stances or pitching styles that are incorrect, PM me with changes needed and suggestions.

See you on opening day!

Released

VER 2:  FA pool was too large making exhibition play crash to desktop (not sure why that would be though since the FA pool has nothing to do with exhibition play).

VER 3: 5 LRPs who are new had only 1 pitch causing game to crash or render unplayable.  1 additional pitch added to each of those pitchers for the fix.   Blanton major move to Nationals.

VER 4:  Several pitchers had pitches adjusted, especially speed (i.e., looked at 86mph and lower FB);  Justin Bour speed lowered.

Very good the roster, excellent to be more accurate, I already wanted an updated roster so I could have some fun playing with the players updated mlb

Hi, thank you very much for the roster. But there are some very good prospects like for example, Gleyber Towers of the Yankees and Robles of the Nationals. Some players have very high batting contact and most pitchers have under the throw command. In addition, prospects have not indicated that they are prospects. I hope you keep all those details in mind. I know that making a good roster is difficult but with the help of all you can do a good job. Greetings from Cuba.

As indicated, these rosters are designed per the Roster Resource site, nothing more.

And prospects are just that....prospects.   This is an MLB roster only.  Prospects have yet to officially play with the team.  Later in the year if they make the team they will be included/created.  But, honestly there are many prospects who never make it to the MLB level.  You can take any of the "Placeholder" players and convert them into any other player you want.   Per your example, Gleyber Towers is not showing on baseball-reference.com at all.  Initially it would be very difficult to create a player like this other than in name only.

You're welcome to give me a formula to come up with the correct control numbers.  I'm generally giving the most used pitch, typically a FB, in relation to the pitchers' ERA numbers over a 4 year period and then adjusting down from there.

To adjust the numbers of the players and the pitchers I am guided by:  Gordo's MVP Roster Editing Guidelines 1.0.0.

www.mvpmods.com/files/file/9234-gordos-mvp-roster-editing-guidelines/

When creating the prospects you can guide you through the fangraphs projections. To adjust the numbers of the players I look for the best statistics of the last 3 or 4 years, I choose the best values and I take an average.

Are you asking me or telling me I can use that?   If you're asking me, yes, those are the editing guidelines.

If you're telling me, then you're telling me to use the guidelines that I uploaded.  Those are my guidelines.

I know and have used fangraphs.  But like I've mentioned, this is an MLB roster only.... I'm not creating players unless they enter (and stay, for the most part) at the MLB level.  You're welcome to create your own players as is anyone else.
