Creating a minor league player

Like most people, it suckes to not see a lot of the teams real minor league players on their rosters. EA failed to include one of the astros top prospects, first basemen Todd Self. Now if i want to create this guy, i want to do it as accurate as possible but not make him too bad or too good. Of course he'll be in the minor leagues so he can't have really good ratings, but his stats from last year were very good:

AB: 416 AVG: .315 R: 86 H: 150 2B: 34 3B: 1 HR: 11 RBI: 81 BB: 89 SO: 95 SB: 8

DOB: Nov. 9th, 1978

Bats: L

Throws: R

If anyone has any tips on creating minor leaguers from using stats please let me know.

Ok, ive got the prospect creator, but how do the numbers you get out of that spreadsheet translate into a 1-99 number scale in mvp???

I was hoping you didnt ask that, because I never figured it out myself.

a-HA! hehe.. j/k.. yeah its a little confusing, well actually very confusing..

Ok, i think i figured it out. Hell i dont know how to explain it, but the row thats highlighted in red is the TMP row, or total minors projection row. This row had super high numbers in it, which completely jacked the contact and power numbers. I think ive got it now.. although the number for patience and baserunning is over 100... very interesting..................... 8O

P1 would be the batters primary position, i.e. ss = 6, catcher = 2, just like on a baseball diamond.

I finally get the program now, its pretty easy to understand.

BTW-Does anyone know of a good place to look for minor league scouting reports??

Ok, the speed thing. As you are typing in the players stats, the players speed is calculated by taking into account, 1. stolen bases, 2. times he was caught, and 3. how many times the player grounded in double plays. I think i get it now, and ive finally got accurate numbers for a prospect.

Ideally, you are supposed to put in at least three years of minor league stats

One more thing, the light blue box labeled LS, put in there the lowest number that you see in the five boxes to the right of it, the ones labeled SSB, SSBA, STP, etc...

That spits out the players speed/baserunning abilities. The spreadsheet does do a decent job of calculating abilities from stats. I like it.

Baseball America Prospect Handbook and http://www.calleaguers.com/index.html

Speed is calculated by the five "speed scores" minus the lowest score, these take into account doubles, triples, sb%, GIDP, and something else im not sure off

ah i see. the readme instructions arent real detailed. The one area i still am a little fuzzy on is the TMP, MLE, and PROJ rows. I had to change those to fabricated numbers, which i basically copied from the 2004 stat line.

Hot zone and cold zone. If you're getting results like that, i'd check to see what is in the TMP, MLE and PROJ rows. If one of those has really high numbers bring them down by simply copying the stats from another year. Thats what i did...

Too bad they dont have a pitching one.. problem is with this is that u dont know their swing-type and defence, etc. if u cant find scouting reports on them.. especially for A players
