jhack910
My game crashes when it gets to the loading screen at the beginning, the loading bar fills up to the middle and then goes back to the desktop screen...and the game doesn't start. Thanks! GO MARLINS
big shmooz
Ok... Is this a clean install or have you added mods to the game? If you have added, please be specific as to the addons you did. Perhaps then somebody might be able to help solve your problem.
TarheelsMark
I've had the same problem. Tried to install datafile final. After you download dataedit.rar, what to you do next? I've tried renaming it datafile and placing it in the data folder, not datafile folder and I still can't get it. Crashing back to the desktop halfway through the bar. I could be blind but I've been seaching this board for the last 30 minutes and could find a solution. Any ideas? Thanks
Rockfan616
I'm having this problem as well, I don't think it's the rosters that I'm using (the old cyberface problem, as I haven't downloaded any new cyberfaces)I did download and install UMachines uniform updates and a new datafile (datafile final I think it was). I want to start up a dynasty but I can't get it to go into the game. I was using Ultimate Rosters 2.2 but recently upgraded to 2.3, so I'm gonna see if that works with the new datafile and go from there. Any ideas in the meantime?? Later!!! Thanks I haven't downloaded 'datafile final', so I can't be sure, but if the file is called dataedit.rar, I'd guess that you need to unzip it first. Google "ALzip" to find a nice, free zip program. (Zip is compression, so that files don't take up so much bandwidth for downloading, but you need to unzip them before you can use them. There are many kinds of zip programs, all denoted with a different extension; .zip, .rar, .ace etc.) See what you get out of that, it should include a readme that you should read. Rockfan616
Alzip Spitoon?? I've never heard of that one before. I do have both Winzip and Winrar however and have been using both of those for downloads. So yeah I do know how to unzip files. "datafile final" if I remember correctly was a Winzip file so I just unzipped it directly into the program files/mvp2005/data/datafile folder. I still haven't tried the game yet to see if it works however. Give me a minute and I'll see. Thanks for the help anyway. Later!!

It will NOT work if you leave it in the datafile folder, because that is not where it is supposed to go. It needs to go in the DATA folder. Yeah, my post was directed at that TarHeels dude, it didn't sound like he knew about zipping etc.. As BigShmooz noted, the datafile.txt needs to go in your /data folder, NOT /data/datafile. A .rar file is basically taking the file & compressing it to make it smaller. You need to extract the compressed file using a program that will UNrar it. There are programs out there such as WinAce or WinRar that will do this for you. Then you need to put the decompressed file that you extracted using one of the above named programs to the data folder that is within your main MVP 2005 folder. That's it. Rockfan616
Oh OK, thanks for the help both Big Shmooz and Spitoon....I always thought it went in datafile but I guess not. Btw, everything is fine with the game now...I think I had a bad roster file in there that's why it wouldn't work. Thanks again!!
big shmooz
Oh OK, thanks for the help both Big Shmooz and Spitoon....I always thought it went in datafile but I guess not. Btw, everything is fine with the game now...I think I had a bad roster file in there that's why it wouldn't work. Thanks again!! First of all, you're welcome. Glad to help. Secondly, it may not be a roster issue so much as a cyberface issue. I work on rosters & so I have come across this problem which others have complained about rosters I have worked on & they downloaded. Here is the thing, if a roster has anything other than a generic cyberface number (a generic number is anything above 900) & the models.big doesn't actually contain a cyberface that matches that number for that particular player, this will cause the game to crash. Personally, I think that in order to solve this problem, the roster makers who upload, should upload it together with the models.big to match. The only downside to this is, that if someone has installed any cyberfaces or uniforms on their own, it will undo all they installed. I personally when I send people rosters I have worked on, I send it together with the models.big (plus the uniforms.big & the portraits.big) & since I have installed almost every uniform & cyberface out there, everybody who get's this from me get's the benefit of everything all at the same time. (plus no crashes) The thing is my models.big is currently at a hefty 554 megabytes (though compressed with winace for uploading, it tops at about 298 megs.) (with the uniforms.big & the portraits.big, it tops out at 329 megs) I am actually looking to release this publicly, but I need to get permission from Hory, moser316, llcmac, jogar84, RAM, Umachines, & Terminatorkorea (whom I do not yet even know how to contact). If these people allow me, I can release this all publicly together with all the tweaks I have done on the rosters. I have made it almost TOTALLY accurate with tweaking certain players abilities, updated transactions, & just about every player's body equipment, jersey numbers, color of bats & gloves, facial hair, body size, hair color, batting stances etc... but unless used in conjunction with my models.big, it will cause other's games to crash, since I also have cyberface numbers in there. Btw... I also need to make it clear that the editing I have done on the rosters is only of players who play in the Major's, since those are the only players I can observe on T.V. . wikitundra
big shmooz, So, when reviewing your rosters, as long as you see face ID's between 901 - 915, they should be okay? I am checking my Colorado roster and all of their minors have face ID's between 901 - 915, and it still crashes. I have not installed any other mods other than a roster file which is an amalgam of the ultimate roster sets. Should I be looking anywhere else? Would audio/photo number cause a problem? Thanks...
