Longest game ever

Recommended Posts

So I was playing my Cubs dynasty today as I do every day. But something different happened. Prior was on fire as usual, but my bats were pathetic. So it gets later on in the game and I start to worry a little because I still can't hit anything for the life of me and its tied 1-1. But I figure, what the heck, keep Prior in. To end the top half of ninth inning Jason Werth climbs the left field fence to make an amazing catch to rob Michael Barrett of a potentially game winning homerun. So then we go to extra innings and I get tense knowing I could lose at any moment in the Dodgers home half of the inning if I don't create some offense. Inning after inning, nothing happening. The Dodgers threaten a few times, but thanks to a couple double plays and Corey Patterson gun from centerfield to home plate, I make it to the end of the 14th with Prior no problem. Then finally, he pulls his rib cage after the second out of the 15th inning. And so I put in Dempster thinking, I'm bound to score soon. And I'd keep the tons of description going, but lets just leave out the boring stuff about me not hitting and my bullpen shutting down the Dodgers and skip straight to the 27TH INNING!!!! Michael Barrett doubles, intentional walk to Neifi Perez (playing for Walker because he fractured his toe a few weeks back on a diving play out at second), then Rey Ordonez (playing for Nomar because he pulled his ACL diving for a ball last week) pops out. Not good, I can see the double play coming. So I send up Blanco because I'm saving Macias in the hopes that someone will get on later and I can use him for speed. Then, a miracle, Brad Penny, the last Dodger pitcher available, makes a wild throw to try and pick off Barrett after 6 innings of flawless baseball. Men on 2nd and 3rd, 1 out.....SUICIDE SQUEEZE!! Barrett charges home and makes a diving slide to beat the tag, I'm up 2-1. Then Corey and his .296 average and 29 homeruns through 49 games continues his horrible day by striking out, going 0-8. Then Jon Leicester comes on, Valentin grounds out to second, Choi grounds out to short. One last out......Werth lines one off Leicester, no time to switch to Aramis, gotta go for with Leicester, he pick its up, turns and jumps with a throw just over the red line...............Derrek Lee makes a tremendous catch going over the far side of the bag keeping the toe on the edge of it just in time to beat Werth by 1/85901890521 of a step. GAME OVER.....so to sum it all up, I am tired as hell after spending the majority of the extra inning screaming at the computer and playing a 27 inning game!!! MVP has to be either Barrett for the run, Blanco for the bunt, or Prior for 14 2/3 innings. No one else is worthy seeing how my team only had 6 hits in 27 innings. But, all in all, it was an damn fine experience.

.....so what's you longest game?

My longest game is 18 innings (3 times) and I won them the same way every time, a walkoff homer to lead off the inning.

6-5 over CWS

11-10 over KC

1-0 over MIN

Cubsfan4life don't worry about it. I do my searches all the time to get game play info and sometimes you don't find what you are looking for. And anyway why bring a dead thread thats months old to front? You did nothing wrong. Go Mariners!!!

Who is this Fastflink2009? If this person is a Moderator then there name needs to be highlighted. People for the most part on this site do searches. We don't need people with no authority telling people what they can and cannot post.

longest game I ever played was a 23 inning marathon.. where I gave up one hit (a stinking base hit in the bottom of the 9th to break the perfect game).. regardless I used my entire bullpen and eventually got a pinch hit homer in the 23rd with my last bench player

I saw a post about this a long time ago, like Feb sometime. I just thought it was kinda odd that a person would say something like that, not even being a moderator. I always thought this was a MVP baseball site that was kind to all posters. We don't need to scare anybody away from this site because of people like that.

yeah well it was in 2004 and the difficulty was only a rookie so it's not that unbelieveable but for some reason I was really struggling with hitting but not pitching.. anyway after that game I play on higher difficulty now
