Lost a perfect game

This was definitely one of the best games I have ever played. Even if I would have wound up losing it it still would have been a great game. I play in owner mode as the Cleveland Indians on Pro level. I think I have some great sliders because I get alot of 5-3 and 6-4 games with an occaional 12-2 thrown in.

My recent game was against the Angels. I had Mark Mulder on the mound while the Angels had Aaron Cook. I hit a HR in the bottom of the 7th to take a 1-0 lead. Both pitchers were pitching great as that was only my third hit of the game while Mulder had a perfect game going. I took that perfect game into the 9th, lost it with only 2 outs left in the game when Miguel Cairo hit a single.

I ended up bringing in Gagne with 2 outs and 2 men on to save the game. Mulder got the win on a 2-hitter. My hands were actually sweating as I was trying hard for that perfect game.

How close have some others come to a perfect game?

between HH2003, MVP2004 I have thrown 7 perfect games, a no hitter in MVP 2005, walked someone while pitching with Burnett trying to get a K.

But I have ruined many perfect game chances in the past.

In MVP2005, apart from the no hitter, I had a perfect game going with beckett into the 9th with one out, then allowed a single. Another game with becket where the perfect game lasted into the 7th, as well with burnett. Leiter into the 8th.

I had a perfect game w/ Oliver Perez on pro 15k's. However on all star I just blew one 2 days ago in the 9th inning w/ Perez again. I had 14K's, but was throwing alot of pitches so by the 7th inning his stamina was very low. I did a mound visit in the 7th, 8th and 9th and all were negative so I lost even more stamina. I was pitching w/ about 25% stamina in the 9th. I got the first out, then the next guy hit a line drive to right field. I have the fielding set to manual, but the fielder (Willy Mo) took a step back instead of going foward and i couldnt get him to recover fast enough so it dropped right in front of him. I retired the next 2 batters for a 1 hitter. Other than that I havent really been close to a no hitter or perfect game on all star (past like 5-6 innings). In my next game, Jon Garland threw a 2 hitter, but one of the hits was very early on.

I pitched a no-no and still lost, I walked a dude, he then stole 2nd, then sacrifice bunt moved him to 3rd, and then a sacrifice fly sent him home.

Serious to, I was pissed. I pitched a no-no and I lost.

I threw about 3 perfect games in 2004.. haven't gotten one in 2005 but it went down to the 27th man before I blew a perfect game twice already so it'll come.. problem is my controller messes up and I can't pitch down in the zone unless I recalibrate it right then

I have 2 in my current season, one with my CAP and the other with Randy Johnson. In the first spring training game I pitched one also with my CAP, I felt kinda bad cuz I had all my starters in all game while the computer subbed most of theirs out by the 5th inning.

sorry but I gotta laugh at that, the odds of that ever happening in real life is about 0.0000000000000000000000000000001%

----

I've thrown 1 Perfect Game with David Bush vs. St. Louis on All-Star. Have had like 4 broken up in the 8th or 9th though :(

ever notice when they break your no-no or PG, it's a bloop single or something like that? That's what it's been everytime I had a chance at it and they get a fluke single to [naughty word] me off.

I remember this happening to a Yankee pitcher about 10 - 15 years ago. He pitched a no-hitter, but gave up 4 runs due to walks, errors, etc....

I've only had 1 perfect game playing MVP and that was in 2004 with Kip Wells. 2005 I got into the 7th inning w/ Josh Fogg on Pro and haven't come close on AllStar.

I had Pavano pitching a perfect game going into the 9th. I had a 3-0 lead. His stamina was really low, so before the first batter, I did a mound visit hoping to get a bit more stanima. But the mound visit turned out a negative one, and the first pitch he threw, Mike Sweeney got a base hit. But I then struck out the next two batters, so Pavano pitched a 1-hitter. He faced one over the limit.

Happened to the Red Sox in the early 90's against Cleveland:

April 12, 1992: Matt Young pitched a no-hitter for the Red Sox in Cleveland. He lost the game (2-1), as the Indians scored their two runs on seven walks, six stolen bases (four by Kenny Lofton) and a Luis Rivera error.

so it's possible!

So, get this. Last night I take a perfect game into the 9th inning, I'm the Pirates vs. the Braves. I throw a low curve and the batter hits a soft grounder to the shortstop, who throws to first who... drops the ball. It was a perfectly on-target, routine throw, and it bounced off the first baseman's glove. I'm slightly displeased at this turn of events. Next player grounds into a fielder's choice, guy after that pops up to end the game.

Stupid first baseman.

Never had a perfect game or no-hitter, but I came close to a no-hitter in my current season. Playing on all-star with spitoons datafile. I got as far as the 9th inning and 1-out before giving up a single. I ended up with a 2-hit shut out.

  • 7 months later...

I actually had one broken up pitching with Sabathia in game 2 of the ALDS against the O's. I went as far as 2 outs in the 7th, but I walked Tejada on a 3-2 pitch and then Javy Lopez singled. Ended up with a 1-hit shutout though

I have never had a no-no, I have been close some time to time. One time I hade a 1-hitter with Schmidt in the 15 inning and Schmidt pitched the whole game (vs my dad)!

Andy Hawkins was the fella who threw the no-hitter for the Yanks and lost. Centerfielder dropped two balls, I think, at Tiger Stadium.

Picked up the game to actually play a few weeks ago and had a perfect game until the 26th man came up and lined a shot into center, DP got me out of the inning and I finished with a one hitter, closest I have come since Ken Griffey Junior Baseball on the SNES.

the "secret" to mound visits is to do them after your pitcher got an out. They always react positive if you do a mound visit after a strikeout or something.

Not quite true - today I made a mound visit after a strikeout (9th inning), but my pitcher didn't react positively.
