Stealing Bases ?

I'm playing on xbox and can't seem to steal bases. I don't see an option for manual baserunning anywhere. I try to move the right thumbstick and that seems to give me a lead and then press in the direction of the base to steal. I never dive headfirst either. What am I doing wrong and is there no manual baserunning ?

i have a lot of trouble stealing too but I play on PC.. usually I'll steal in the middle of the pitchers movement to the plate and I get thrown out

you can pre-load steal attempts using the d-pad. Just push towards the base before the pitcher winds up. To slide head fisrt, push up on the right analog stick.

i think the best thing to do is to adjust the Steel Delay (not sure what its really called) slider.

You want to hookslide when you steal. Push the right analog stick wither up and to the right or up and to the left (right is better).

I never seem to be in control of my baserunner though. How do you take control as there doesn't seem to be an option for manual baserunning. How do I take a lead ? There seems to be a blue circle near my runner which seems to be dull when I don't control and bright when i'm in control.

if hes on first the circle should be bright. If not hit the button that corresponds to first base. To take a lead tap the right analog to the left. I believe you can only move over like 2 steps. To steal either hold up on the D-pad or tap up when the pitcher starts his wind up.

I'll try that but the circle is always dull when a players on first for me

I suck big time stealing too. wish there was an automatic stealing option, i can't concentrate while batting to attempt to steal too.

then press the button that correspoonds with first base to highlight the runner, tap up twice(might generate pickoff throws) with right analog sitck, press up with the d-pad to steal 2nd base. It works for me withe a 80% sucession rate.

there is. if you use the dpad before the pitch, the runner will steal on his own.

you definatly have to adjust the slider as mentioned earlier or you will always suck at stealing bases. Atlest I did then I adjusted the slider to -50 and I hardly ever get caught.
