EnglishDBacker
Hey folks. I purchased this game pad a few days ago. I Installed it all on my computer on Tuesday night and got the joypad configured correctly and all was ok, but now i have a problem with it. When i restarted my computer, windows would not start, and the only way i could get it started was to start it using last know configuration that worked, which when i did it obviously my pad was no longer installed. I have no doubts its something related to this thats causing my computer to crash as this is the only change ive made to my computer in a few days now. Does anyone have any ideas whats wrong? or has anyone had any similar problems. Any help would be mucho appreciated. 8)
RAM
hmm that a new one to me. i still can't see how it would lock windows up on a restart or cause a system crash though. what i mean is you changed the config of the controller via word or notepad correct? so in theory that doesn't make sense to cause a reboot issue, maybe a game issue (which it shouldn't) but not an overall os issue. did you install the saitek software as well? EnglishDBacker
Yes, i installed the saitek software yesterday, then tried a restart and it crashed, but without the saitek software i cannot get the joypad to function correctly. I presume something with the saitek software is responsible for the lock up. I Tried editing my controller.cfg file without having the saitek software involved, but could never get it to function correctly.
RAM
oh ok. then you need to go into mydocs mvpbaseball2005 and just edit the controlconfig file, make sure you make a copy of the original JUST in case. do you need a copy of mine? i can post it here for you. this will get the pad to function perfectly in game. EnglishDBacker
Yes, i would appreciate that Does this mean that i should not bother installing any of the saitek software or anything??
RAM
ok first here's what you need to change in the control config files. just open it up-right click - open with note or wordpad, look for these lines- copy and paste these over them (or delete the old lines and replace w/these) close say yes to changes. but, make sure you make a backup in a folder just in case. nothing will go wrong but well, you know how pc's are. here it is: VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_L_STICK_RIGHT= axis- 1 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_L_STICK_LEFT= axis+ 1 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_L_STICK_UP= axis+ 2 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_L_STICK_DOWN= axis- 2 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R_STICK_RIGHT= axis- 4 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R_STICK_LEFT= axis+ 4 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R_STICK_UP= axis+ 3 VPAD_VIRTUAL_BUTTON_R_STICK_DOWN= axis- 3 then you should be good to go. as far as the software goes. personally i use it to map the red smart button "S" button to function like the keyboard escape key, this way i don't always have to lean forward to the keyboard. couple that w/ the joy to key program (search here it's around here along w/ instructions) you will never have to use the keyboard in game ever again. anyway check to see if they have an updated software set at saitek assuming you have XP there may be a compatability issue. i've never had a problem with it. but i did update the software. EnglishDBacker
Thanks for your help RAM. I Have made progress but i still havent solved the problem as such. When i re-installed the software and restarted my machine, it still wouldnt fire up, i again had to use the "last known good config that worked" set-up, but when it started up, the software was still installed so it may not be that thats causing a crash. Unfortunately i know jack all about computers and know no ways in which to find out whats causing this and what to do about it :(
RAM
then if i were you i would just use the controller config i posted. then just uninstall the POS saitek software. it really does nothing but allow to use the smart button. sometimes you can even use the smart button w/out it. the control config above will ensure you can use the right stick in the game anyway, which is really all that counts. EnglishDBacker
OK, i had to install the software otherwise the pad wouldnt operate properly even with the conroller config set as you showed above. The oad wont ever operate without the software in it seems, and the software is mashing my computer upon restart
