Lual
Upcoming Series - 3 Games Home vs Arizona Game 1: Home vs Arizona Diamondbacks Mets Misery In May! (Above: Glavine picks things up after giving up a 3run shot in the 1st, as he helps out at 1B, Right: Reyes busts for a triple, but comes up short.) May is now in the books, and the Mets have tumbled from contenders to pretenders, winning just 10 games in the month. The final game of the month saw a matchup at Shea vs the Diamondbacks. It was more of the same though for the Mets, as Glavine gave up a 3run homer in the 1st to Glaus, before the guests wrapped things up on a 2run shot by Counsel in the 7th. Bergeron and Diaz managed to add to their stats by driving runs home for the Mets, but there wasnt to be any late heroics, as the Mets slipped to a 5-2 loss to start the series. This season is now purely a rebuilding job for the Mets, dont be surprised is some of the youngsters are called up earlier than expected, just to give the Mets management a chance to see them play in the Bigs. Roll on June...... Lual
Mets News: June is upon us, and its time for the teams serious about challenging in the MLB to start making their move. One team who are stuggling on the field, have made a clutch of moves in the past day, as they attempt to turn things around, and bring success back to the ball club. That team is the New York Mets, who at 22-30 and 10.5GB in the NL East, needed some changes to try and become competitive again. We round up and review the Mets merry go round, right here: Trades: SP K.Ishii / LF E.Valent / CF P.Bergeron to Tampa Bay for - LF C.Crawford to New York (N) C J.Pachot to Baltimore for - C G.Gil to New York (N) (Optioned to AAA Norfolk) LF L.Garcia to Houston for - LF C.Burke to New York (N) (Optioned to AAA Norfolk) Free Agent Signing: SP J.Brown 1yr @ 900k to New York (N) Call Ups / Send Downs: RF G.Kapler (.289 25RBI 5HR) to New York (N) from AAA Norfolk 1B B.Fullmer (.244 16RBI 6HR) to New York (N) from AAA Norfolk RF V.Diaz to AAA Norfolk from New York (N) Mets Announce New Lineup: RF Mike Cameron SS Jose Reyes LF Carl Crawford CF Carlos Beltran C Mike Piazza 1B Doug Mientkiewicz 3B David Wright 2B Miguel Cairo SP (Starting Pitcher) or DH Gabe Kapler With all this action around the Mets camp, we caught up with a few key men involved in the sweeping changes, and their thoughts on the action needed to turning the Mets around. Carl Crawford Yeah its a big move for me, I thank Tampa for helping me on my way, but moving to the Mets is more than a step up. Im at a proper ball club now, this is why i play baseball, this organisation has World Champions written all over it. Gabe Kapler Im happy to be back in the Bigs. The Mets gave me a chance, and i showed them what i could do in Norfolk, now i hope i can help this team turn the corner and push the NL East to the end. Overall the Mets now seem to have a feel good factor back in the camp, sometimes a batch of fresh faces can change a locker room, the Mets will hope these moves will give them some impetous to go on and challenge for the Play Offs. If not, expect a few more changes in the off-season.....

Lual
Mike Cameron leadoff? 8O This is obviously not the real world, but you have made som nice trades. Ju' Reynoso is looking good down there! Aye, im liking Ju'Rey big time. As for Cameron, its an experiment for the time being, as he has pace, and generally turns a walk or a single into a double or triple, as he can take bags. Problem is, he rarely gets on base lol
APR
Why don't you put Crawford at the leadoff spot instead of Cameron?
Lual
Game 2: Home vs Arizona Diamondbacks Blown! (Above: Benson appears to have things under control, Right: Wright goes yard, but the Mets blow it.) Game 2 against the Diamondbacks, and the Mets appeared to have put together a winning performance to start June off with a bang. Alas, 3-1 up with 2 innings remaining, poor pitching put the Diamondbacks in the winners circle, as Quentin hit a 9tn inning jack to win it. Wright had lumped the Mets 3-1 up with a rare homer, this added to the 2 runs scored by Reyes on the back of wild throws in the outfield in trying to pick Reyes off. 2 runs in the 8th, then the Quentin solo shot, soon put paid to this lead, as the Mets are slipping further and further behind. Crawford didnt comment on his debut after the game, as he went 0-4 with 2Ks, not the ideal start for the new Met. Lual
Game 3: Home vs Arizona Diamondbacks Blown Part II! (Above: Beltran rounds the bases on a inside the parker, but its called an error, Right: Crawford gets on board, with a triple driving in 2.) Simply astonishing, the Mets are now capable of going back in time, making us all feel like we are re-living Groundhog Day. Possibly an unwritten rule in baseball, but definately a rule in the managers notebook. Is that you dont giveup a 2 run lead with 2 innings remaining. So to then give up a 3-1 lead 2 nights in a row, shows just how poor this team really is becoming. The Mets infact led 3-0 at 1 point, as Crawford drove in 2 in the 1st inning, off the back of a triple. This was added to by Beltran who rounded the bases on the back of an error. Again we went to the 8th inning with the Mets 3-1 up, this time Looper came in, and promptly gave up a 2 run shot to Green, sending the game in extra innings. Just as the Mets seemed to have gotten back on top, Looper leaves a ball in the sweetspot, and 1B Clark drills it long over the right field wall, which gave the Diamondbacks the winning run to defend . One of those days....nope, two of those days more like. APR
Maybe it's not the players faults, but the Manager, GM, and Owner that are the real people to blame.
mooseknucks
Damn. You shoulda moved some players around for releif pitching. Though your starters aren't much better, they've been decent as of late. I'd like to see the Trading Block to see who you could go for in releif or starting pitching. Once again though, the reports and such bring a smile to my face. You've put a lot of effort into it and it's appreciated. Amazing job Lu'.

Lual
Upcoming Series - 3 Games Home vs San Francisco Game 1: Home vs San Francisco Giants Never Say Die! (Above: Beltran ties it in the 8th with a double, Right: Fullmer blasts round the bases and scrambles home to win the game, on the back of Camerons Triple.) Bouncebackability, what does it mean? Well its the new word for the Mets, as they bounced back from 4-1 down and 6-4 down, to beat the Giants in the 9th inning, of an incredible game. It seemed as if the Mets where in for more of the same, after they fell 4-1 down, on the back of a Bonds 3 run jack in the 4th. Things then started to get exciting. First up Piazza cleared the bases on a double, to tie the game in the 5th. The 7th inning saw Alou and Grissom cross the plate, as the Giants raced back into the lead 6-4, leaving the Mets wondering if they would ever win again. The 8th inning, and things looked rosey again, Beltran drove home Crawford and Reyes to tie it 6-6. It should of been more, but the Mets failed to score on a bases loaded 1 out scenario. DeJean pitched a perfect 9th, which gave the Mets a chance to come alive. They did just that, thanks to a Triple from Cameron, which sent Fullmer home, at last the remaining Mets fans had something to celebrate. A good night at Shea, alot more of those are needed to turn things around.
