Lual
Upcoming Series - 3 Games @ New York (A) Game 1: @ New York Yankees Top Of The World, MA! (Above: Benson's doing a great job on the mound, Right: Beltran fires home, and Piazza gets the game saving out.) The METS WIN, METS WIN..... it may just be 1 game, but the Mets came to Yankee Stadium and conquered the moneybag Yankees, in a classic Subway matchup. Both teams relied on solid pitching to get them through the game, as neither side piled on any consitant offensive pressure. Infact the winning run came off an overthrow to 3rd, as Reyes rounded the bases on an error. Before this, the Mets had led 2-0 for half an inning, only to be pegged back via a 2 run shot from Giamboids. The winning run came in the 8th inning, Looper then made sure the Mets won, to spark World Champion like celebrations for the struggling Mets. Will games 2 and 3 live upto this billing? Lual
Game 2: @ New York Yankees Series Split! (Above: Crawford strikes out as the Mets cant get things going and Right: Crawford ponders his decision to join the Mets, even the DRays are more competitive.) After the highs of last night, the Mets felt the lows of baseball, feeling the backlash from the stacked Yankees, as they put 20 hits and 14 runs on the board. Zambrano had another loss for his stats, as he lasted 5 innings, giving up 14 hits, 10 runs and 3 homeruns. He is fast becoming a unwanted property in baseball, and is facing the prospect of not having his contract renewed in the off-season. Everyone on the Yankees put a hit on the board, Jeter and Posada both had 2 homers in the game, with Jeter icing 6 RBIs in the 14 run cake. The final Battle of the Big Apple gets underway tomorrow, and its possibly the Mets last chance to turn their season around and earn some pride for themselves. Lual
Game 3: @ New York Yankees Magical Mets! (Above: Suicide Squeeze, Carl Crawford slides to put the Mets ahead, Right: Trachsel picks up his 7th and most important K, as its the Yankees last out.) At last the Mets can feel good about themselves. Tonights win wasn't just any win, it was a series clinching win over the Yankees, to restore some pride for the club. Wearing the 86' road uni's, the Mets showed up ready for action. Though when Jeter hit a 1st inning solo shot, things didnt look to good for the guests. The situation changed though, as Trachsel started to mow down the batters, the Mets bats came alive. The game was tied in the 3rd, then in the 7th, the Mets took control, driving in 3 runs with 2 outs. Crawfords suicide squeeze came in the 8th, to add some insurance to the scoreline. But Trachsel didnt need it, he pitched 9 innings, putting 7 Ks on the board, in his best performance to date. Its a great way for the Mets to end their 12 game road trip, they now face the Phillies at home for 3 games to finish the month of June. Lual
Upcoming Series - 3 Games Home vs Philadelphia Game 1: Home vs Philadelphia Phillies Close! (Above: Crawfords solo shot, not nearly enough, Right: Piazza gets hit, and comes out fighting.) The Mets came back to Shea after a 12 game road stand, hoping to continue their improved form, by beating the NL East Leading Phillies. The game was tight through 4 innings, as the Mets led 2-1, thanks to Crawfords solo shot in the 4th. The Phillies took control in the top of the 5th, thanks to a 3 run blitz, giving them a 4-2 lead, which the carried till the final out. The major talking point outside of the scoreline, was Piazzas reaction to getting hit, he sparked a mass brawl, by charging the mound after being clobbered on the elbow. After the game Piazza said "Im fed up with pitchers who cant control the ball, careers are on the line, and im not going to take cr*p like that". Game 2 may prove spicey. Lual
Game 2: Home vs Philadelphia Phillies Mets Make A Game Of It! (Above: Wright drives home Beltran for the game winning run in the 11th inning.) Wowzers. The Mets and Phillies played out a hum-dinger, as the hosts came back from a 4-1 defecit to win in 11 innings. Things didnt look for the Mets as the Phillies took a 4 run lead thanks to a Lieberthal Grand Slam in the 2nd inning. Rather than collapsing, the Mets started to grind, and work hard. Eventually they got their just rewards, as 2 runs in the 8th inning, tied it, with Beltran (4/5 on the night) the main instigator. Going into extra innings, the Mets looked the stronger. And with the bases loaded with 0 outs in the 11th inning, David Wright slid a line drive past the 1st baseman, to send Beltran home, and ensure a hard fought 5-4 comeback win for the Mets. The Phillies would rue 4 errors on the night, 2 of which attributed to Mets runs, not the expected standard for the team leading the NL East in June. 1 game left, the series is up for grabs, as June comes to a close. Mets Notables: Hitting: Beltran - 4/5, 1RBI Cameron - 2/4 Pitching: Glavine - 7I 5H 4R 2ER 2K 1HR 4.31era DeJean - W (4-3) Box R H E PHI 4 8 4 NYM 5 9

Lual
Game 3: Home vs Philadelphia Phillies Hanging On! (Above: Kapler brings the score closer with his 2RBI shot, Right: The bench realise the comeback is doomed to fail.) This tough series ended, with a Mets comeback that fell just short in the 9th inning, as they couldnt manufacture the runs needed to tie the game, with a 3 on, 1 out scenario. The Phillies had appeared to have clinched the game, as they raced ahead 6-0 on the back of some poor pitching from Benson. The Mets tightened things up and then put together some runs of their own. Firstly a 3 run burst in the 7th, halved the defecit. Then in the 9th, the Mets loaded the bases with 1 out, but only managed to get 1 man across the plate as Wagner shut the Mets down. New York finish June 10-16 and are 15GB in the NL East after a dismal 3 months play. Next up, the Mets host Florida, to start July, and signal the halfway mark of the season. Lual
Upcoming Series - 3 Games Home vs Florida Game 1: Home vs Florida Marlins Lacklustre Mets! (Above: Piazza and Cairo go down swinging, as the Mets can only put 4 hits on the board.) Florida came to New York to do a job, and they did just that, by beating the Mets 4-2 in a scrappy game of baseball. The Mets barely got out of 1st gear, as they swung at everything, and ended up with just 4 hits on the day, in a woeful showing for their army of fans. With that in mind, it was surprising that the Marlins only just took the game thanks to a 2 run shot from Lowell in the 8th. As Crawfords 2RBI single, tied things up in the 6th, leaving the Marlins in shock. Koo ended up taking the loss, as he failed to exert enough dominance to finish the Marlins off. Its a long road back for the Mets, and its only going to get tougher. Lual
Game 2: Home vs Florida Marlins The Mike & Carl Show! (Above: Cameron steals a bag in an impressive display, Right: The Bench looks glum as the Mets trail early, things soon picked up.) Another rough start for the Mets as they trailed early on by 2 runs, as they stared down the barrel of defeat yet again. This time however, things worked out well for the hosts, as they put together 2 solid innings, totalling 7 runs, to beat the Marlins 7-2 in a well deserved win. Mike Cameron and Carl Crawford where the stars for the Mets, as both men drove in 3 runs each, with Crawford hitting another jack, putting him on 6 since his arrival at Shea. Fortunato pitched the final 3 innings, giving up just 1 hit, as he made sure the Mets held on to tie the series 1 a piece. With tomorrows game being the 81st of the season, the Mets are still a long way off the play off race, and are realistically hoping for a .500 season to gain some respect. The problem is, there is no perfect zone to hit, and come the 5th inning or so, my pitchers are pretty much done, so im just happy to get outs anyway i can. i might move over to a new datafile, or find some more suitable sliders - but i dont want to unbalance my dynasty, and become a super team, as im enjoying having to work my as* off to try and win cheers for the comments though :D
Lual
Game 3: Home vs Florida Marlins Halfway To Hell! (Above: Crawford commits a cardinal sin, getting caught advancing at 3rd. Right: Poor'Dro, the new nickname for the Mets 4-11 Ace.) Florida completed the series with a solid 6-1 win at Shea, making sure they took 2 games back to Florida, as they head the race to win the NL East in 2005. The Mets meanwhile are now 16.5GB and are fast becoming easy meat for whoever they face. There is no upside to the Mets season. Crawford has proven to be a success, but there are rumblings of discontent in the locker room, as the Mets are now 33-48 at the halfway stage. Realistically they will need at least 60 wins in the 2nd half of the season to challenge in the NL East, and they just aint going to happen. So where next? The game itself was pretty conclusive. Florida drove runs in consistently through 5 innings, whilst the Mets relied on Crawfords 6th RBI of the series as their consolation. Pedro made sure he lost his 11th game of the year, soon he will average $1million dollars earned, per loss, per year. 4 games in Washington, then 3 in Pittsburgh await the Mets, before the 3 day All-Star break. x63
If they are done after the 5th you are putting to much effort into your pitches. Not every pitch has to be thrown at max. I throw a ton of 1/2 3/4 full meter pitches. Just make sure you keep the get-me-over pitches down. If you take some off then put some on, that really messes with the computers timing. You can vary every pitch 2-5mph with the variety of meter you use. I struck 2 guys out in a row only using one pitch. Using Keith Foulke I only used the CCH, take some off, put some on, in and out, high and low. Just make sure your breaking/offspeed pitches that are up are either out of the strike zone up or away. They will chase once in a while, but that sets them up for another area.
Lual
Upcoming Series - 4 Games @ Washington Game 1: @ Washington Nationals National Late Show! (Above: Wright drives in the Mets run, but they cant hold on, Right: Beltran appears to be losing his belief in the team.) If the Mets needed a series win, it was this series against the Nationals. 4 games against a division rival, and a chance for the Mets to close the gap on those above them. Game 1 proved to be a late show for the Mets, as they had held the lead from the 5th inning. The Nationals then took the lead with a 2 run shot by Guzman in the 7th, and followed this up with 3 more runs in the 8th, as the Mets relief fell apart. The Nationals keep their slim playoff hopes alive, while the Mets just continue to slump from one crisis to another. Right: Time is running out for the Mets staff.) Game 2, and again the Nationals took the win, with a run in the 8th inning. Early on, it had been the Mets who led, thanks to Crawford driving in Reyes. Then in the 5th inning, Castilla hit a solo homer to left, putting the sides level through to the 8th inning. This time, Reyes was the villian, as he failed to grab a routine grounder, which allowed the winning run to cross home, leaving the Mets empty handed after 2 games in Washington. The Mets Front Office are getting really edgy, and the rumours are that the Coaching Staff will be removed at the end of the season, as they will look to rebuild the team with fresh talent and ideas. (Above: Mientkiewicz pulls out all the stops, Right: The Nationals break up a Double Play as they take it to the Mets.) 3 straight, and the Mets are falling to new lows with every game they play. Tonight the Nationals shut the Mets offence down, restricting them to 3 hits, as the Nationals appear to be getting serious about making the Play Offs. Nothing the Mets tried came off tonight, as Cameron accounted for 2 of the hits, in a embarrasing display. The Nationals scored single runs dotted throughout the game, and appeared to have more in their locker should they have needed to step on the gas. Tomorrow night will see the Nationals attempt to seal a 4 game sweep of the Mets. New York will be looking forward to finishing off the series, as the 3 day All-Star break looms in the horizon. (Above: Piazza nails a runner at home, maintaining the Mets lead, Right: Crawford and Reyes can smile after a rare win.) Every little helps, and tonight the Mets put another win on the board, as the outhit the Nationals, to clinch a 4-1 win on the back of 14 hits. The Mets seemed to be playing 100% baseball throughout the team, as Trachsel went 8.2 innings, giving up just 1 run. Cairo had a career day going 4 for 4 with 2 RBIs, as he drove in the final 2 runs in the 8th inning, giving the Mets some vital insurance on the scoreboard. Not the series the Mets expected, losing 1-3. But its a win, and something to take into the Pittsburgh series, before the 3 day break. (Above: Pedro's Webgem, Right: The Mets fall in extra innings after a valiant comeback.) 2 of the MLBs worst, clashed at PNC Park as the Pirates faced off against the Mets, in the first of 3 games. The Pirates actually took charge of the game early on, as they put 4 runs on the board without reply. The Mets then pulled things around, a 4 run 7th inning tied things up, and eventually forced the game into extra innings. The Mets appeared to have the better of things, but couldnt turn men on base into runs. This eventually cost the Mets, as Lawton got on base, then was driven in by Bautista, as the Pirates walked off with a 5-4 win after 11 innings. (Above: The Mets racked up 11 hits in a convincing win, including Right: Kapler pinch hitting a 2RBI Double.) Memories of last nights disappointment where quickly erased by the Mets, as they put 7 runs on the board, in a convincing win over the Pirates. The Mets scored 2 in the 5th, 2 in the 6th and then after the Pirates pulled 1 back in the 8th, the Mets sealed things with a 3 run 9th, including 2RBIs driven in by Kapler. Cameron also put 2RBIs on the board as he went 3/5, further enhancing his call to stay on as a Met come the end of the season. If the Pirates pitching can shut your offence down, then you know you have serious problems. And well, for the Mets a 3-0 defeat just sums up how poor they have become. Its the 2nd time in 5 games that the Mets have failed to put runs on the board, as they slip to 3-6 for the month of July. Bautista was the Pirates game winner, as he drove all 3 runs in. 2 came in the 6th, then he added 1 more in the 8th. Theres nothing really much to add for the Mets, as they slip to yet another series loss, this time against weak opposition. The All-Star break is now upon us, and to rub salt into the wounds, no New York Mets players will be representing the NL this year.
