pitchers and off season bad stuff...

I don't think i am wrong about this, but it's been 3 franchise seasons i play, and each time when the spring training begins some pitchers vanished. You know...when the CPU "optimized" the rosters.

The game arrange the pitching with 5 SP pitcher and 6 RP pitcher. Well, all the other are erased, not even in the free agent list. Myself i keep 7 RP, so basicely, i see 4 pitchers disappear year after year.

I saw this stuff starting with 2 different franchises, and playing over 5 seasons. An enormous problem. I was wondering if it was releasing the player, well...no. Doesn't even make a hint of a difference in salaries.

I am beginning to find that optimizing roster at the spring training quite destructive of any fun i can have with this game. Dynasty mode has the exact same problem.

I can deal with the pitching rotation bug, but that is just monstruous and ridiculous. I have reapllied the second patch, but i don't get my hopes up. I think i am gonna re-install 2004...It didn't have any of those problems.

This happens every time, in both Dynasty and Owner mode. The only work-around I've found is to have Exactly 95 players in your organization, and even then I've had a player or two changed on me. I recommend advancing to the end of free agent signing period manually, even if you've signed everyone you wanted. In general, it only gets rid of crappy Single-A or Double-A pitchers with no potential, so it's really no big loss for me. If you are having this problem on you MLB team, check your minor league teams, the CPU rearranges your organization when you start a new season.

How come they didn't saw this and try to fix...I don't understand how they could have missed that problem in the beta testing. Since it wasn't there in 2004...

If it's there intentionnally, it's like they assumed everyones has a 2 year old brain when they play the franchise. I find that though to be insulting at best.

The 2005 game is simply destroyed because of that. It's not even worth the full price that i payed, in my opinion. It's a great game on the feild, but the all experience of Dynasty an Franchise is completely ruined by the next season CPU roster adjustement. Ridiculous programming...I can't beleive they didn't see the pitcher players being deleted.

They probably didn't catch it in beta because they probably tested to see if the optimization works, and they didn't realize it did the optimization for all teams, not just CPU teams in the offseason. Still, at least in my experience, it only affects the low minor leagues, which, for the most part, are not a major part of the franchise experience, as far as I am concerned. If that ruins your whole MVP experience, it's really a shame; you're missing out on a great game because of this small bug.

u know what I hate as well.. at the end of the season when I do all my free agent signings, promotions, etc. and hit done.. once it goes to spring training my rosters are all changed again and I lose all the minor league stats of the players so I can't use them to decide who belongs at which level

I have never had this happen in my dynasty. The CPU moves players around in the off season a lot. I'll have 2 SP and 9 RP on my MLB team, and 10 SP and 1 RP on my AAA. Plus, I think the CPU optimizes the rosters for Spring Training. It wants your minor leagers to play at the MLB level for Spring Traing.

I have never LOST any players after a season though. That sounds weird.

I said it was a great game, but all the off the feild franchise, isn't worth that much because of that automatic option. I can assure you, that I saw players (Only pitchers) being deleted, purely and simply deleted, after that off season optimization. The conditions were:

Washington team, full 14 players rosters with 5 starters and 7 releivers, for each levels. After opmization: 14 players, 5 starters, 6 releivers on all levels. The 4 missing players were not on Free Agent. That was with the second patch applied.

Also, WAAAAAAAAAAY too many players retire for personal reasons, especially, big-time prospects.

I havnt finished a whole season in my dynasty, but I simmed one when I first got the game, how come sooooo many players retire due to ability? How many rounds is the draft?

Alot of minor leaguers retire due to ability and personal reasons in the game. Its just weird like that. I dont know about you but if i was good enough to make a decent living playing baseball, even at teh A ball level, id probably stick with it as long as i could.

The draft is 10 rounds. Seems like after the fourth round or so tho you might as well let the cpu finish because the scouting system pretty much says the same thing about everyone. IMO one of the biggest flaws of dynasty mode is an inability to see who is going to be available in the draft before the draft starts. A scouting system similar to that found in some other games would have been great.

Like Madden, txomisc? I really like doing Madden drafts.... I even prepair before the draft with a little scouting report that I write down. I know, kinda dorky, but I always have a great draft. Check out my NFL draft if you would like, I did it about 6 months ago http://www.dynastymanager.com/nfl_news.cgi...6&form_id=1

Well i havent played madden in years so im not sure exactly what they have going on. NFL2k series has a good system. Beginning about halfway through the season you start getting updates on the upcoming rookies. The NHL game from the 2k series also has a very in depth system where you can actually play a game and run through some skills competitions before you enter the draft.

I like your system there, drafting is perhaps my favorite part of sports games. I dunno i just like to build winners. Football is the best sport to do this for.
