The Official MVP Baseball 2006* Wishlist

Here are a few off of my 'wishlist':

- Tipped and caught third strikes.

- More broken bats.

- Catcher throws his mask off on pop ups.

- Interaction between pitcher, catcher and manager for mound visits.

- Correct fatigue, especially for pitchers.

- The ability to trade draft picks, and 'future considerations'.

- The ability to pick up some of a guy's contract to facilitate a trade.

- The ability to save a game in progress.

- More weather effects.

- The ability to export stats to a spreadsheet.

My wishlist:

- A create-a-player system like Tiger Woods

- A create-a-swing/stance utility

- A single-player mode, where you try to work your way up through the minors to the show.

- A more in-depth draft system, like the one in Madden, with scouting reports, combines, and a better mix of stats (the current system will never create a fast 1b, 3b, or C)

- A more immersive sim feature, something to make simming through seasons in owner mode or dynasty mode a bit more interesting.

- The headlines in Madden 2005 were a nice touch

- A CPU optimize button that works correctly

- Actual minor league rosters

- Left-handed catchers

- Snap throws

- Crowd reactions

- Bullpens that actually tire

- All-star games that play like all-star games, instead of Johan Santana pitching a CG, and all the starters staying for the whole game.

- Home run derby

- Player voices

- Better throw controls after a dive (you should be able to get up faster at the cost of accuracy or something)

- CPU opponents who play small-ball

- Player progression based on performance and age mid-season

- All-Time Teams/Classic teams in exhibition mode

- Customizable Music out of the box

- Fantasy stadiums, like Triple Play used to have

- A better create-a-stadium feature

Wow that's a lot. I think that's all for now. I'll probably think of more when I'm playing later on.

1. Cpu fielders actually picking up the ball instead of staring at it while it lays at their feet. (manual fielding)

2. More realistic double plays. This year seems to be better than last year, but i think that too many are broken up w/ slides.

3. More realistic 3rd base fielding. How many times have you hit a grounder down the line only to watch the CPU 3rd baseman throw falling away and still get you out.

4. The way the CPU fielders move. For example they trot slowly over to a pop up, then the last few feet they go into hyper mode especially if they have to reach/dive for a ball.

5. Much improved scouting. This is my biggest beef w/ madden as well. The scouting combines mean nothing, and the team scouts for MVP are terrible. In one of my madden seasons last year I made a few trades to get 2 top 5 picks in the draft. I went through the combine carefully and when i signed those 2 players their ratings were horrible.

6. Remove player happiness or totally redo it. I had a couple guys who came off the DL, I put them back in the line up immediately, and after 1-2 games they were unhappy about their playing time. I wish you could write replies to their email

7. I dont think they have a save game feature because if you had a no hitter or something going, you could always save the game after every pitch and keep going till you got it. Unfortuantely I think it would be a hard temptation to resist

8. Better announcing. After playing a total of about 200 games or so everyonce in a while i still hear some new sayings. However some of the stuff is just ridiculous especially that krusty the clown/pee wee herman laugh. Also some of the stuff is way innacurate. Being in the 9th inning saying the pitcher looks good but its still early, hitting a 450+ft homer and saying he didnt get all of it etc etc

9. Improved stealing. Stealing is the only slider I have played w/ because I simply could not steal w/ it on default even w/ players like carl crawford. I had to set it to -30 to even get close to realistic results. Also especially in AAA if you try to steal 3rd and the throw is way offline (5+ft toward second) i get called out most of the time as i pass the 3rd bsaeman when in reality there is no way he could of had the ball and tagged me.

Stats like in Highheat 2003; that was awesome!!!

I agree. Drag and drop stats functionality. Being able to export stats with the ability to print them out.

This is what I would like most: During the season, show stats (in game) of the particular series you are playing.

Yes...I don't quite understand why people here are not understanding this...or if they do, why they keep posting long "wish lists". The series is dead now. There is no EA development for a "next year" version. EA is not making a baseball game for next year. It is not in development...it is not targeted for pre-Dec 31...period.

The only thing that can be done is continued modding to this game by all the talented people here...or...a decision by EA to release a "generic" baseball game next year with no MLB players, no actual stadiums, no real uniforms, etc. Right now...as of today...that is not happening.

So, all the input for things to add to the game will fall on deaf ears, unless it is something a modder can pick up and accomplish with this year's game.

Here is the only hope (as quoted in CNNMOney article):

"And by only sewing up third-party rights, that leaves a big loophole. Microsoft (which owns the much-praised "High Heat" franchise), Sony (which has an internal development team specializing in sports games) and Nintendo can still make their own games. And it's quite possible that EA would work in tandem with a console publisher to develop a game.

Even if it chose not to go that road, there are some prominent MLB players who don't belong to the Player's Association – such as Barry Bonds and Kevin Millar. By putting the marketing focus on a cover athlete, EA could create a baseball game that centers on mostly fictional players. It'd be a long shot to succeed, but not completely out of the realm of possibility."

I would like to see more stats control, baseball is all about stats, career stats and records. I'd like to see them pay more attention to these things. I like to play 20 some seasons and see players retire and break career stats and such.

you can't trade draft picks in real baseball, i dont think they would put that into mvp.

I didn't know that, thanks bill, I retract my wish ;)

Oh, and jitter:

Good point about the Save Game feature, I never thought of that.

1. How about a real 40-man roster thing where you can remove/add players to it and have to put people on waivers to get them taken off as well as a rule 5 draft in the off-season?

2. A better off-season mode where the CPU doesn't align all your lineups based on attitributes and not performance/age

3. Draft picks that don't demand to be signed to AAA or AA contracts and just be happy to start in A (in real baseball they'd start in R or low A)

4. More cyberfaces in the game

A lot of the other things i'm thinking of have been mentioned

Oh a system where it saves all the minor league stats of players after the season is completed so that you can use them to make the rosters for the start of the next season

What are you talking about? It has been posted at various forums that MVP Baseball 2006 will be released but at an earlier date because of the deal between TakeTwo and MLB taking effect next year. They will be releasing MVP 2006 because it was in development prior to TakeTwo getting the exclusive license.

like cybernetic said, rule 5, 40 man rosters, and one thing, they have to put back into the game, you should be able to stop your runner in the base paths. I hate you cant do that anymore.

Just curious where you are getting your info. Do you have a link? As of right now, there is no plan to release an MVP2006. None. Not by EA, anyway. And if they do wind up releasing a baseball game, it will not have the real player names...and if Take Two does acquire the MLB license as they are planning to, in addition to the MLBPA license it already has, there won't be any real stadiums or uniforms. Either way, it won't be the same MVP we have today.

The could always partner with another manufacturer like Sony or Microsoft, but that would also mean a dramatic change in the game engine as well as both of these manufacturers have their own game engines.

There will not be an MVP2006 as we know it today.

-Deeper custom stadium. I'd like to be able to tweak the dimensions of the park and the colors of the walls/seats more. Just more options.

-Like has been mentioned numerous times here, create a swing

-Create a pitcher's delivery

-Subject specific arguments against the umpires (argue safe/out, not just generic arguing).

-base coaches

-being able to jump into the crowd to catch balls

-If there is low attendance, show low attendance. Not always show full capacity when there are only 13k people

-40 man roster in september

-if the cpu rejects your trade offer, come up with a counter offer a la Baseball Mogul

I'm sure I can think of more, but this is what comes to mind every time I play.

Good list dodgersfan.

I too would like to see 40 man roster in sept, and counter offers on trades.

Here is a piece of an article i found.

These exclusive deals specify Take-Two as the exclusive third-party publisher for officially licensed Major League Baseball video games. Consistent with Take-Two's desire for continued consumer choice, the hardware manufacturers such as Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo will retain the right to enter into development agreements for MLB games specific to their particular platforms. All other third-party publishers and developers are precluded from publishing officially licensed MLB simulation, arcade, and manager style games, either directly or in affiliation with a hardware manufacturer, during the length of the exclusives. Take-Two will be the sole developer, publisher and distributor of licensed simulation, arcade and manager-style Major League Baseball PC games.

I dont know how that will relate to MVP2006. This contract does not take place till spring so I assume if EA is making MVP2006 and they release it before spring then it can be fully licensed.
