I was wondering if anybody has some advice on how to pick them off. I know its done rarely in MLB. I have played like 95 games and have been picked off like 15 times and 0 for the cpu. cybernetic Posted May 19, 2005 Share Posted May 19, 2005 I rarely pick them off but when I do.. it's usually when I'm stalling and delaying the delivery and see a little bit of movement from the baserunner.. or see him standing with a huge lead for a while.. Hell, I can make it back by then. Does the pitching meter have any affect on throwing a pickoff? I have hit it many times in the green zone and all I get is a old granpa lob throw? sfgiantsflgators Posted May 19, 2005 Share Posted May 19, 2005 when i'm throwing to first i let it max out and don't even worry about the green area...if you just hold the button down it will max out the meter. sometimes it will throw offline a bit depending on how good your pitcher is but the 4 times i've picked the CPU off i did it with this method. it's all risk/reward... HypnoxXx Posted May 19, 2005 Share Posted May 19, 2005 Remember, you can pick off guys before your pitching graphic even comes up...Also, how good a pitcher's pickoff rating does have a pretty large effect on pickoffs...Dont expect to ever pick off the CPU with a pitcher with under a 50 for pickoffs...
