MVPedit and Total Portraits

it seems as though this shouldn't be a new problem but i couldn't find anywhere else it was addressed so i brought it here:

MVPedit was working fine for a couple weeks. Today I downloaded quite a few Total Portrait packs and installed them. Works fantastic in-game so I figure, awesome, I'm golden. Then I downloaded the new UR 2.3 and opened it in MVPedit; I then got a "gfxpak.exe" error shutdown message. I tried to open UR 2.2 and got the same message therefore deducing it wasn't the Ultimate Rosters. Then I replaced the altered portrait.big file with the original, opened UR 2.2 and UR 2.3, and sure enough, MVPedit seems to be fine now.

Since it apparently has something to do with my downloading Total Portraits I am going to leave the original portrait.big file as is right now. My question is how, if possible, I can figure out what happened and how to fix it. It was awesome having portraits for all the otherwise blank players and I'd like to find out how to get it back to that with everything working. Thanks in advance...

There is a problem in Gfxpak (which MVPedit uses to display the portraits) - when you have more than 3000 portraits in the portrait.big file, gfxpak crashes. There's nothing that can be done about this. It's only to do with gfxpak, MVP will run perfectly fine with 3000+ portraits, kraw's total portraits installers and other .big file editors like EA Graphics Editor and bigGUI have no problem.

The only way round this is to either

disable the portrait display option in mvpedit or

use bugGUI to delete portraits from your portrait.big so you have less than 3000 portraits but then of course you won't have portraits for all the players in the game

or you could temporaily replace your portraits.big file with the original version while using MVPedit and use the modded one when playing the game.

awesome man...thanks for the response. since it doesn't hurt anything else i'll probably just disable the portraits in MVPedit - i don't mess with that part anyway. thanks again.

PS...kick *** work on the total portraits - really pimps out the game experience

Hory, is their anyway to check how many portraits that you have installed? Because i would like to finish off the LaKe Elsinore Storm (padres single A) and the only way i know how to do it is the photoshop, 8bit 24 bit, MVPEdit way where you click new photo and new alpha. What other way can i add portraits so i can finish off the whole Single A team?
