JP_Frost
I know he's a great player who is capable of hitting over .300, with 40+ homers and 120-140 rbi's, but at the end of the season he always has 150+ rbi's, sometimes getting up to 170. This is a bit much. Does anybody else have that in their game?...should I lower his attributes. He also wins the al mvp 9 outta 10 times in my game. Cash #25
I rarely even get the guy OUT. I was trying to pitch around him once and he swung at a pitch two feet outside and yanked it over the wall in left. Now I just punch in an IBB and take my chances on Big Papi, who at least behaves like a normal human in this game.
gcurrier2004
Its because EA sports are Boston lovers. Notice they overated almost every player on the Sox, but alot of the Yankees are underated. Just check it out. Arod is worse than most third baseman in the game.
JP_Frost
Yeah, I noticed that they went a bit overboard with the Red Sox. They usually end up having 5 or 6 silversluggers in my game at the end of the season. But let's not try to get this to turn into an anti red sox thread, so maybe we could see if some edits are needed for the red sox players. any suggestions? Zelda55
the yankees are rated fine...a-rod isnt the best contact hitter...they did have his power against right-handers a bit low, but that can be edited. jeter's contact ratings need to be in the 90s on both right and left, but as far as ea sports being boston lovers thats bs because randy johnson and all the other yankees pitchers are waaay up there in attributes even tho they are pitching poorly right now. i agree that manny is overrated in this game, but i honestly believe he is the best hitter in the game. i know he is slumping now and playing like crap, but when he's on, man that's a smoothest and coolest looking swing ever. just reduce his contact some, but his power should still be in the 90s on both because he can absolutely destroy the ball...that's why the contact being lowered can fix that because he wont hit every ball cleanly to his potential, which is to knock it 450 feet. JP_Frost
I know Manny is good, but I don't see him knocking in more than 160 runs.
sfgiantsflgators
RBI's are directly related to the team around a guy...if the guys ahead of manny are getting on base all season long i could see him hitting in 150+ a year. same would go for any high quality hitter that was fortunate enough to bat behind people with high OBP's. edit: manny had 165 RBI's in 1999 with CLE. Red Sox always second. Manny is a tough out, but he is in real life , too, I know they stretch it a bit with outside of the strike zone pitches and he still smacks them sometimes, but other than that, its good practice. A-Rod, man that guy has 40+ HR every season I checked, he ain't underrated at all. The RBI factor, although I haven't had it like this, I agree that is too much, but are you sure it is not sliders, etc. Because 146 was his most I have seen, and that was once. In my current Dynasty he is on pace for 140 right now...
JP_Frost
I dunno if it's the sliders. It's just Manny though, nobody else has crazy numbers like that
sfgiantsflgators
what are his other stats? i.e., BA, HR, OBP, SLG...if they aren't overly high i don't see too big of a problem. i only say this because in my game he hasn't won anything before - jeter got it (MVP) first year of dynasty, a-rod second, ichiro third. the only player that wins something every year on my game is Joe Mauer (gold glove and silver slugger)
Gudraves
I agree with avngres220 on this one, in my Owner mode, Damon and Ortiz are both hitting better then Manny but Manny has an unbeliveable amount of RBIs because for some reason they have Manny batting behind Ortiz. So with Damon and Ortiz getting on base about 45-50% of the time it makes getting RBIs pretty easy.
JP_Frost
so that means that other red sox players should be edited...prolly their contact and plate discipline ratings. Edit: Manny's stats are fine apart from the rbi's.
Zelda55
i would say damon is in fact underrated in this game seeing how well he has been playing these last two years. renteria is a terrible player and the red sox should never have gotten him...reduce his contact and power a lot and you should be fine. also, try and follow that post i had before. FSSR.Keyno
Speaking of hitting the ball outside of the plate, i get the "cant take this game seriously", when a AI RightHand Batter hits a HR to left field when i thru a slider outside the plate away with a RightHand Pitcher. Shsshh! Keyno

RonBurgundy
The only guy I have problems with is Pujols and Chavez, though I find that Pujols is very easy to strike out. I either K him or he gets a double or home-run. I once threw a Randy Johnson fastball up and in, and Pujols somehow hit an inside-out home-run into the RF upper deck in Yankee Stadium, that is complete unrealistic BS. And Chavez just hits whatever I throw, wherever I throw it. Manny is OK.

Zelda55
the thing is that if it's possible for the computer to do it, we should be able to as well. i still am amazed by the fact that in a professional video game, they make it seem like NO ONE hits balls considerably out of the strike zone, especially when its down or inside. moreover, i have yet to figure out how to pull a ball that is away or hit it the other way when it's inside (which you can do to a certain extent in real life). it's pretty annoying that the only hits you can get consistently are "if it's away hit it away" etc. when in fact i see players pull away balls (in the strike zone) for monster homers every day in real life. sfgiantsflgators
i hit quite a few opposite field homers as well as bloop shots. maybe its in the way you wait for and read pitches that you guys get these results? as for the computer pulling balls that you aim outside, are you sure the ball made it out there? sometimes i find that i try to throw it far enough outside that it's going to be a ball (a setup pitch) but i miss on how far i aim it or on the pitching meter and the ball ends up in the strike zone - and then the ball is gone. i don't know - maybe i just got lucky and i installed the right mix of mods and sliders that have prevented me from having any crazy moments
RonBurgundy
I have accidentally pulled pitches outside for monster shots a couple of times with Matsui , so it is possible in the game. However, the inside-out monster home-run, gimme a break.
