Pitching help

I am playing on Pro level and I cannot pitch. I consistently give up 15-20+ hits and 7-10 runs per game. The sliders are at -50 for contact and power for the CPU. I don't want to go back down to rookie, because there is no challenge I hit far too well and the stats are reversed. Does anyone have any suggestions or further tuning I could do? I do practice, but its going on 30+ games here w/o improvement. Thanks

Actually, practice is probably the only answer. Spend some time in the Mini Games Pitching option.

Or it could be depending on HOW you are pitching.

1.) Mix your pitches

2.) Mix location

3.) Work corners

4.) Try to keep the batter guessing

5.) Scout the batter's hot and cold zones

6.) Patience and practice

Hope this helps, let us know. :)

To add on to Joe's list, you don't always have to throw strikes to get the batter to swing, you can mix in a ball out of the zone every once in a while and they will fish!

This is a simple thing that people often overlook:

Are you charging up the pitching meter fully? Quite often people treat it like a three click golf swing, in which case you are not getting full effectiveness on the pitch. Make sure you hold the button down until the meter reaches into the red zone (if not all the way to the end), then let go and try to hit it again in the accuracy zone.

Like spitoon mentioned it seems like your are not using the pitch meter correctly. Try a game w/ the pirates using oliver perez. He seems to be overly dominating in this years version. If you are pitching correctly his 4 seamfastball should be between 95-97 and I belive his slider is around 85mph. Try throwing 2 4seamers on the corners of the plate, then throw a slider about half a ball length off the plate low and inside. If they dont swing and miss the first time try another one. Perez is averaging 12ks/9 on all star for me. Most of my strikeouts from other pitchers come from curveballs, splitters, or sinkers. I use mainly fastballs and changeups for strike 1 and 2 then just throw a curveball, spillter, or sinker about a ball length low out of the zone and you should get many strikeouts.

I remember in MVP 03, the high heat for the 3rd strike was amazing for me. Just lay a fastball above the letters, and they'll usually hack at it. Not sure if it still works, though.
