cybernetic
I just purchased a Saitek P2500 controller and am going to be starting one out tonight... I'm going to start on pro difficulty but may move up to All-Star if it's too easy for me.. I'm using Roddata's new datafile with his slider suggestions Ultimate Rosters v2.3 Total Audio 0.3 I've made adjustments to the Jays org. rosters to accurately portray the current rosters with injured players on the level lower than they are actually on and won't use them for a while and call them up when they actually come off the DL I will play all MLB games and maybe 50% of the minor league games
cybernetic
The start of the dynasty will be postponed until later on tonight or possibly even tomorrow as I'm having compatibility issues with the Saitek controller and it causes my game to crash while starting up a game.. I am currently downloading the updated drivers through their website
APR
You beat me to it, I was going to start a dynasty with the Jays most likely.
cybernetic
OK I had a rough start in the dynasty so far.. fielding has been the main weak point with relief pitching and hitting behind.. I have a 2-4 record after 6 games and just avoided a 3-game sweep by the Red Sox with a hard fought win in the final game with an 8th inning rally to secure a 4-3 win with Halladay on the hill.. interesting enough, both of my wins have come with Halladay on the hill.. I was really struggling to hit off Wakefield but whenever I had runners on I had I was able to get a bunch of easy steals.. we're going on a 9-game road trip with stops in Oakland (3), Texas (4) and a rematch against Boston (3).. hopefully I can get everything ticking EDIT: I have switched to assisted fielding to help with the fielding problems Some minor league free agent signings were made to fill in the A roster -2B Bryant Nelson (AAA) was placed on the 15-day DL with a strained elbow and SS Raul Tablado has been recalled from AA (he was hitting .375 in 4 games so far and with the need for an infielder he was recalled) -RHP Steve Andrade (AA) struggled badly in 3 relief appearances over 7innings allowing 9 ER and has been sent down to A with SP Justin Miller recalled from a rehab stint in A where he made 3 appearances in long relief with a 2.10 era -RHP Brandon League (AAA) was moved from the rotation to the closer's role after a bad start and RHP Jason Arnold has been placed in the rotation in his spot temporarily
cybernetic
-Arnold will likely make 2-3 starts until I can gauge the performance of the AA starters and pick one to call up -OF Catalanotto will be making a rehab start (or two) in AAA early next week as he will be coming off the bereavement list next week
cybernetic
I've decided not to play any of the minor league games and just pick the line-ups/manage rosters pre-game and then sim them
gcurrier2004
Im following it, i am a Jays fan, they have a Warm spot due to the fact 2 of their minor league teams are 30 minutes of me..... Im more of a Yankee fan though. Are you going ot be posting any minor league updates or anything?
cybernetic
I don't really see a point since I'm not playing the games and just simming them.. I forgot to mention that Vernon Wells was injured with a sprained wrist in game 1 and was forced to miss games 2-5.. Johnson placed in CF with Gross in LF in those games.. so as it would seem Wells/Halladay seem to be the only thing in games 1 and 6 which are the only games I've won so far that is different which would suggest that they are the keys to victory for me
cybernetic
I'm contemplating creating myself as a pitcher in A.. although the only problem is I'm a fairly short guy at only 5'8" but I have a great arm and am a good contact hitter with not a lot of power
cybernetic
Just had a tough 17-inning loss to Oakland.. the Jays struggling to get hits and only mustered 10 hits on the game with 1 run.. Oakland had 8 hits but had 2-HR's with a walkoff one in the 17th by Hatteberg.. all of the Jays pitchers had strong outings aside from a couple pitches which resulted in HR's.. Final score: Oakland 2 Toronto 1 in 17.. season record now 2-5.. I may have a shake-up of the line-up in the next game
cybernetic
I just lost another tough extra inning game, this one going 15 innings and ending on a 1-0 loss.. Dave Bush went 10 innings allowing 0 ER and Downs who came in as the 4th reliever was shelled with the loss
cybernetic
Another bad loss on a 1-hit shutout to Texas in the opener of the series with them.. Pedro Astacio had a CG 1-hitter.. I don't what's wrong with my offense but I seem to be hitting a lot of groundballs, flyballs and striking out a lot and not making solid contact
cybernetic
Another tough loss.. a 2-0 shutout at the hands of Texas.. Drese with a CG 5-hitter.. Halladay with a CG in the loss only surrendering 2 ER.. I'm on a runless streak of 19 innings and have only 1 HR on the season.. something is seriously wrong with my batting right now as everything seems to be a weak groundball or flyout with no power on it
cybernetic
I've simmed all games up to today's date and will play all games A-MLB daily
cybernetic
I seem to have found my swing in the series with Minnesota hitting 5 HR's but ending up narrowly missing a sweep over them with a tough 3-2 loss in extra innings.. Halladay pitched 10 innings with 11K and allowing only 2 hits, both in the same inning (a double to Stewart and a HR to Castro).. Batista had a strong 2 innings striking out 4 with no hits allowed.. Speier ending up getting the loss after giving up a basehit to Torii Hunter in the 11th and leaving after 0.2ip with him on 3B.. Schoenweis came in to face the lefty Joe Mauer and prompty gave up a basehit scoring Hunter.. the Jays went 1-2-3 in the bottom of the inning for the loss. Jays RBI's: Hinske with a HR to make it 1-0 Jays in the 2nd Zaun with a SF to tie the game in the bottom of the 9th Closer Joe Nathan pitched 6 innings for the Twins with a blown save tying the game and sending it to extra innings but ended up getting the win. What is wrong with the AI in this game? Why would they leave their closer out that long? When I played Oakland in an extra inning game they did the same thing with Dotel. cybernetic
I made a few roster moves after that game.. 2B Orlando Hudson was traded to Tampa Bay for 2B Delwyn Young who was then optioned to AAA and LF/1B John-Ford Griffin recalled.. Young will likely remain in AAA for the remainder of the season.. Russ Adams will now be the teams starting 2B and Aaron Hill shifted to SS.. John Hattig (who was called up from AAA 3-4 games ago) is now the starting 3B until Corey Koskie returns from the DL which may not be until after the all-star break. The team is trying to move 1B Eric Hinske and LF Frank Catalanotto before the all-star break to free up some salary as it is a rebuilding year for the team.. they may also be willing to part with SP Dave Bush or SP Josh Towers to make room for one of the starters in AAA (probably Chad Gaudin) The team record is now 23-27 and are in last in the AL East 9 GB of the Red Sox but only 1 GB of the 3rd place tied Yankees and Orioles The team would like to contend for the wild card/AL East pennant this year but it is looking more and more unlikely before season's end
mooseknucks
That has never happened to me. The computer has never left a closer in for six innings. Three at most, if he made it that long without hanging a hook over the plate due to exhaustion. Strange. :?
APR
Well it may happen if the batter swings at like the first pitch every at-bat. Other than that 6 innings is insane for any reliever!
mooseknucks
I actually do do that. That's why usually, even if I score 6 runs or so, a pitcher pitches a complete game because he only throws the max of 3 pitches per batter. I played a 1-0 pitchers duel last week in which I threw 97 pitches in 9 innings for 11 strikeouts, and the opposing pitcher threw 58 pitches in 9 innings for 1 strikeout. So I guess you're right, if he doesn't have to throw many pitches, he could stay in really long.
cybernetic
he tended to get a lot of lazy fly balls and rare pitched more than 1-3 pitches to a batter.. I've just made a trade for Paul Konerko from the White Sox for Eric Hinske and Frank Catalanotto.. only time will tell if this trade is beneficial to the team or not
cybernetic
I just got a 6-2 win over Seattle to take the series in the rubber match.. Koskie 3-5 after being activated from the DL prior to the game with a HR and 3 RBI.. In turn Hattig was sent down to AAA to get some regular playing time Konerko is struggling so far in Toronto going 1-9 in 2 games Gaudin pitched a gem in his first start after being called up to replace David Bush who had been traded to Chicago along with Hinske and Catalanotto for Konerko.. He went 8 innings in the W, surrendering 0 ER and 0 BB but only getting 1 K
cybernetic
SP Chien-Ming Wang was acquired from the Yankees for SP Chris Baker (AAA) and will be making his first start in AAA soon SP Sean Henn was also acquired in a minor league deal and assigned to AA OF Ron Acuna was recalled from AA (to AAA) and responded well in his first game going 2-5 with a HR and 2 RBI in a 15-3 romp of Durham SP Justin Miller is doing well on his rehab stints in A and AA.. he played 3 games in A in 8.2 innings with a 2.08era and 8k/3bb AA: 19g, 61.1ip, 7-2, 1sv, 47k, 18bb, 1.03era and has since been moved from LR to their rotation

cybernetic
LOL I just grabbed guys who were in the trading block in basically salary dumps or unloading of underachieving players.. I don't know why I'm reporting everything I do in the dynasty... anyway I'm gonna recall Justin Miller from AA soon
cybernetic
Oh and a good thing to know.. I've moved into a 4th place tie with Baltimore at 25-28 and am slowly creeping towards .500.. a half game back of the 3rd place Yankees
