MVP Baseball 2006

As you all know, this is going to be the last MVP Baseball for the next seven years, so I was thinking...does it really have to be? I'm going to try to make a new MVP Baseball 2006 by updating rosters, jerseys, portraits, music, ditty's, stadiums, prospects, faces, and update the menus with new CTS. If you want, you are more than welcome to help.

Is this a good idea?

P.S. I'll post some screen caps of the new CTS in a day or two.

Oh man you are so going to get ripped, not by me though. It's not in my nature.

Did you search before posting? Because we did this before in many threads, coming up with a proposition for 2005 and beyond.

Cheers,

That is still not FACT. You are right, in terms of license, but that doesn't mean EA won't make one, they haven't decided on that yet. Knowing the modding community is as big as it is, EA can without any problems release an unlicensed verison, simply devoting themselves on the gameplay part, and adding other features; the stadiums, jerseys, rosters would be up to the modders, and that anyways has pretty much been like this.

her a doumb ?, but as ea infactly said there will be no mvp2006 or is this still a rumer . last time we wnet throw this some time last year, they hd rumorded not to benig any for this year and beyond.

i know there an excluive deal going on with ea for football for 7-10 years, i'm wondering if that what was thought.

anyone know for abosult ea not dong a version of mvp next year. they seem to be the only one that as done pc one, and that totaly be lost with if they didnt. at least with something we can use for the base. then mod as said before.

Mcoll, good questions. No, I have not read that EA has actually come out and said that they won't come out with a 2006 version. They've been quiet about that. It is too early to guess on what they will do.

This whole thing has it's beginnings because of that football deal that EA got into with the NFL. Now Take 2 has the same deal for baseball. Take 2 will do the baseball game for the console versions of course and I think that they will do a PC one too, but I am not 100% sure on that.

You are right though, if EA has one next year, it will be something we can use as a base because these modders will do another great job.

I seriously doubt EA will come out with one. To say they will come out with 2006 is wishful thinking. This is the gaming industry we're talking about, and the gaming industry does only 30% of it's work for the satisfaction of the consumer, 70% for profit. Therefore, there is very little reason for them to waste time on an unlicensed version which probably won't sell very well (only to hard-core fans like ourselves) so this would be a very cement-headed business decision. And EA is all about the profit, so expect them not to.

Not to mention the modding community makes up a small percentage of the MVP-playing community. So basically the game won't sell at all. A waste of time, resources by EA.

Agreed 100%, though I'd venture to say those percentages are a little more like 15-85 in favor of profits.

I kind of hope no new baseball title comes out next year...look at the mods for Sim City 4, Links 2003 and NASCAR Racing 2003 Season...since there hasn't been a new version for 2-3 years, the mods just get better and better for the existing versions. It's a same to see all the hard work that's been done go to waste when the new version comes out.

Plus I don't want to spend another $40 that soon on the same game.

acutally, the consules will have new titles by take two and the first party publishers. only chance pc gets a game is if take two develops it. and if that game is not easily modable (ie madden), don't expect the modding commnuntiy to buy.

and i agree on the whole new season thing, it would be nice to focus on the same game for a few years, make the game more awesome than ever.

I heard Take Two IS making a PC game that will be extremly easy to mod. I can't remember where I read it, it might have even been on here, but I have read it somewhere

First off, all "industries" do 100% of their "work" to make a profit. If a business was just out to please people and not make money, they wouldn't be around very long. Secondly, part of gaining that profit is appealing to your chosen demographic. EA knows there are a ton of customers out there that a baseball appeals to and they also know, that without a license, they don't have to put any effort into uni's, faces, portaits, stats, etc. My guess is, EA will release a baseball game because they have built such a loyal following with MVP and not much effort will have to be put into releasing a new version.

The industry does not sell to a specific demographic. Every game is geared toward trying to sell to everybody, sometimes at the expense of quality. It's a waste of time and energy to develop something that'll only sell to 0.74% of the gaming world.

Also, the lack of licensing does not decrease the amount of effort required. Simply creating the game engine is extremely difficult and arduous. It just makes little sense to waste time and money on a baseball game simply for people to mod. If this was some smaller developer, maybe, but this is E.A.

Demographic=people that like sports games, not everyone that likes video games period. So, yes, people that like sports games, ie baseball, would be their demographic. If they know they can continue to sell their product, they will.

Here's why, that engine that takes so much time and money to develop...guess what, it's done. Do you think they develop a new engine for every sports game every year? No, so the engine is there, people will want to buy it, EA will release a baseball game in '06.

On a lighter note, I don't know if they will or not, nor do I care, because it probably would be very close to the same as 05, but with a bunch of Bill O'Leary's in orange, yellow and green uni's. I'm just arguing to argue.

You slipped up there. If the game engine is going to be the same, what would be the point of releasing an unlicensed version of the same game? Exactly, none. it would be a waste of time and money. Why buy the exact same product without the greatness of MLB? Just think about that. 8O

2005 is our last for a while. The gaming industry does not cater to us, sorry.

No, I didn't slip up....you are answering your question to me in your own question. If they release the game with the same engine, what the hell are they spending time and money on....NOTHING! The just repackage the game and BAM, there is the new game.

Also, I love being right.....
