bpbob Posted May 28, 2005 Share Posted May 28, 2005 I brought this up on mvplanet.com and they told me to come here. pitchers like randy johnson and rivera have had their pitches changed along with several others. I want to know if you did this on purpose or if its a glitch and if you did change it where did you get their pitches from because i know randy johnson has a 4 seam 2 seam slider splitter and changeup. I don't know why or which is more correct, EA or 2.3, but there are many changes. The Neyer-James Guide to Pitches gives him the same, minues the changeup, saying he uses the 2-seamer as a change. For Mike Stanton, ESPN gives him curve, slider, 2-seamer, splitter. Neyer-James says fastball, curve, slider -- though, their last reference for him is 1999, and I'm pretty sure he has picked up the split in the last 6 years. eber Posted May 28, 2005 Share Posted May 28, 2005 I had bad luck with installing UR2.3 with MVPedit but might reconsider if the pitcher's arsenals have changed--is this confirmed? I installed UR1.0 but it seems Peavy still has a curve in his arsenal (which he doesn't throw) and should be a 4-seam, 2-seam, slider, change-up. On a related note, is there a reason why UR2.3 is installed with MVPedit whereas UR1.0 was installed by overwriting certain files? IMO, UR1.0 installation was easier and hassleproof. He just changes speeds on his pitches. The link you provided mentions pitches that are included, but does that mean all inclusive? Halladay doesn't have a changeup, cutter, or 2-seam fastball? As for the knuckle-curve, Ultimate Version 2.3 is the first place I've seen him have that pitch. Some significant changes I've seen in 2.3 are more slurves and forkballs that seem to replace sliders and splitters for certain pitchers. I think there is more of the circle change as well. Looks to me that 2.3 will make hitting more difficult than EA's default roster. Just as an experiment, I created a player who among his pitches has a forkball and slurve, and he was terrific against the Cardinals in an exhibition game on All-Star. What would be the difference between a changeup and circle change thrown by a right-handed pitcher breaking say 11-5 in how it appears to the batter?
