homers with Roddata 2005

After playing more with this datafile, It is indeed hard to hit homers. Balls that should be crushed are just deep fly balls. I have tried changing a few variables and but can't seem to find the right fix. When I tried to change things in the batterai I noticed more homers, but I did not like the how hard the ball were coming off the bat, rods mod has a good speed off the bat. I have my datafilemix with rods 2004 batter and batterai fixes and also his 2005audioai fix. this combo seems to work the best. I wanna know how are you guys doing with homers with rods datafile and what did you do to fix your low power output.

If memory servces me right (I'm at work so can't say for sure), he said to change the following to get better contact: <batter> 19 0.25; 20 0.15; 21 0.05; That definitely seems to help, and you can also increase your Human Batter Contact a bit higher as well.

I believe that he said on an earlier post that he had only tinkered with the batter contact aspects of the datafile.

As for HR, I find that YOU'RE NOT GONNA HIT ONE unless your timing is perfect. I have hit 2 HR's in 4 games since installing this datafile. So obviously, I need to work on my swing a bit. Hope this helps.

Finding the magic balance is tough, for sure. Try the modification to " Hot_Power_Mod" "Warm_Power_Mod" & "Cold_Power_Mod" in the <batter> section. This increases overall "Power" but doesn't affect "Contact". You'll still get the benefit of the contact modifications.

After bumping up the Power Mods just a little, the CPU hit a 447 ft HR with one of my players. I'm still tinkering to get the perfect balance.

ez did you make changes to 19 to 21 and what is your contact slider?

I pumped them up to the specs that Rod suggested, but I found that I was hitting a bit too strong. I set then set them at: 19 0.20; 20 0.10; 21 0.05; This feels a little better to me. As for my Contact setting, I can't really remember at the moment (I'm at work). I'll check this evening and let you know, but the game feels pretty good at the moment except for my lack of timing.

Rod, if you can read this, there are time when I turn a double play with either the second baseman or shortstop, even if the baserunner is a mile away, they will still clear themselves from the runner to make the throw to first. This animation has cost me to turn several doubleplays. Is there a way to stop this and just have pivot and throw to first. I can see when the runner is closer to the bag but not when they are farther away. thanks

So, decreasing these three values (19 - 21) should cut down on hitting. The CPU keeps hitting me up the middle. Any values to modify that will correct this? Thanks in advance....

no these are for power. If you adjust the contact variables in the batterai. That should change the cpu contact. look at values 15-24

If memory serves, all of the double play animations have the data rate set at 30.00 by default (in section 10). If you scroll through section 10, you'll notice I set some of the double play animations lower (probably most are at 25.00). Just set these back to 30.00.

Example: 0x104b53ed 10<throwing.DoublePlayThrow.LeftOfBase.f_dblplaythrowl.AnimInfo>;0 0;1 0;2 30.000;

Just to be sure I am following, I should lower the values in <batterai> 15 - 24 to decrease the CPU's contact, correct? Where can I find the user values? They are probably labeled user but I am at work and can not check it out. Just trying to draft my edit plan when I get home this evening.

I found these lines in the <batter> section:

15 100;16 25.0;17 10.5;18 0.43;19 0;20 0;21 0;22 -0.2;23 ;24 0.15

How should I decrease these?

Also, what value in the datafile will make the outfield be more aggressive instead of stopping short and allowing the ball to drop in front of them?

Thanks for all of your assistance....

Rod I am confused. To increase homeruns, I should increase or decrease the numbers on hot power, cold power and warm power?

Those settings currently are:

hot: 8

warm: 69

cold: 20

That's on your datafile. Am I doing something in error?

my bad... the previous line was from <batter> section... these are from the <batterai> section I am checking out:

15 0.900;16 1.100;17 0.850;18 1.15;19 0.000;20 0.000;21 0.950;22 1.050;23 0.950;24 1.050

How should I decrease these?

Thanks in advance... again:)

There is a slider for this you may want to try first. Its CPU Catch Agg. Try increasing this.

anyone know why I can't recompress the datafile? Here is my error message that appears in the program screen:

Fatal Error

Compression test failed! original <>compressed->decompressed!

There is no juice in the hits that I feel I have had solid contact with the ball. I am thinking of going back to one of your prior datafiles with the homerun fix.

i've got it fixed now, but I as feel like I get no power in my hits at all. I just played a game with the edits to the datafile suggested here, got a dead 3-0 fastball down the middle and swung with A-Rod full power...result? A lazy pop up to first. Had the same situation with Sheffield, 3-0 count fastball into the upper left hand corner and tried to pull the ball...result? pop-up to third base.

I don't know where your getting those numbers. In the <batter> section(which is at the beginning of the datafile), items 19, 20, & 21 are for Hot_Power_Mod, Warm_Power_Mod, & Cold_Power_Mod respectively.

The default values are all set to "0.00".

If you change item #19 (Hot Power Modifiation) to 0.20, that will modify and increase the "Power" of a hit that is hit in a batter's "Hot Zone".

You can increase the warm & cold zone power as well.

Doing that should increase the amount of HR's hit by a human or a CPU batter.

Just a thought, do you have all the files in the folder you are compressing in? (the compression decompression files, the datafile.txt & the datafileEdit.txt)?

Double check to make sure you didn't delete something by mistake from the folder.
