Peter Bernard's Cyberface Previews

I was formally asked by the creator of the last Pete Rose face to create another one, so I'm working on it. Right now, his mouth is up too high and his skin isn't blended correctly. There isn't much texture on his hair except the bangs and above the ears, where I had shots with greater detail. I think this is promising at this point, I think there's a good chance he'll make it into the next face pack in a nicer form than shown here.

lol,i thught u meant a cyberface of urself

good cyberface by the way

HA!! That's funny, I should do one of me. Some people would download it so they could throw fastballs at my head.

I changed the title to make it less confusing, thanks for pointing that out. I'll plan on using this space to preview faces that I'm working on.

And thanks for the compliment-- of course if you got any closer to him than what's in those shots, you'd see what I mean about it still needing alot of work. But when the faces look like the original guy from a distance, then I know it's just a matter of time and effort before it kicks "naughty word."

That looks great.

Also, I have a question regarding cyberfaces for you:

I was playing as the Royals, and when I brought out the manager his whole face was "shifted" around his head. His ears were in the front where the eyes should have been, and his hair was right smack in the middle where the nose would be. What do you think could have happened?

I can take a screenshot if you'd like.

You mean like my avatar?

My avatar is a failed attempt at making Duke Snider. I think it looked like that because I picked a poorly-matching mesh to put the face over.

I see that happen in the game sometimes when I forget to start the game with 3D Analyze and I'm playing in the lowest visual setting. Is this what you do? Play on the low setting? I've seen alot of manager and player faces twisted around on the low setting, but they straighten out most of the time when I restart with 3D Analyze version 2.0 and turn the helmet reflections off.

Later this summer I'm dog-sitting for a month at my friend's place, and he has a top-notch video card, so I'll be seeing helmet reflections in July and August! Woohoo!

Umm, did I answer your question before I wandered off into my personal reverie?

Yeah, you did. I think. I'll go get a screenshot just to make sure you knew what I was talking about.

(I put my player settings on high, even though it may not seem it with my shotty gfx card. This guy was the only time I've seen this happen.. Hmm.)

Here he is:

I don't know. I just checked and my KC Manager looks kind of generic -- see him here in a windows media video file:

http://www.peterbernard.com/kcmanager.wmv

And all the faces that twist sideways in my game are generic faces, oddly enough.

See, when he takes his cap off, he looks more like Marky Ramone than Pete Rose, ha! (Marky was their second drummer.)

That picture looks really bright! Do all the faces look that bright? When I first played MVP 2004 on my old video card it looked like that. Have you tried 3D Analyze to see if it does anything to improve it?

All my players are bright -- thanks to my Intel Integrated gfx "card".. Heh. I really need to save up some money for a decent card.

What's this 3D Analyze you speak of??

There's a topic about it somewhere in here. Make sure to get version 2.0. There are 4 buttons on the left. Click the 2nd from the top, choose the MVP 2005 exe file, hit OK. Then click the button on the bottom left and it starts the game for you.

I just used the preset settings of version 2.0.

No, I added hair to give him bangs which I took from the cover of the British album, "Beatles For Sale." Can you guess which Beatle? I thought not.

I may be wrong... but try this & see if it works... Go into MVP edit & if you have not done so, import your current rosters to MVP edit & name it anything you like. It will then create for you a .mbe file. (If you do not know how to do this, post here & either I or somebody else will explain how you do this.)

After you open up your roster inside the "MVP edit" program, you need to click on the button called "team" . Then click on the tab called "manager". Then look around there & see where it says "04 face". If it says "no", you need to change that to "yes" & then import the .mbe file to your datatbase folder, which is a subfolder of your main MVP 2005 folder. (make sure if you are not familiar with doing this process, that when you navigate to the "database" folder that you DOUBLE CLICK ON IT". It should ask you to overwrite the previous files. If it does not ask you it means you didn't double click properly on the database folder & that it is actually writing the files to the "data" folder.)

If I am correct about this suspicion... the 04 face will say "no", & when you change it to "yes", this will fix your problem.

Oh you think it's a half face? Yeah that's a possibility. Another cool thing you can do under "Team" in MVPEdit is just give yourself a different manager. You can get Lou Piniella's face # from the Devil Rays and have him manage your team instead of those losers.

HOCKEY BETTER THAN BASEBALL??? I won't quibble over the god thing but HOCKEY????

Just kidding.

I won't quibble with ya over the Devil Rays being losers, but Baseball better than Hockey??? (imitating you) :)

Hockey is awesome. It is amazing both to play & to watch. (I do both) The precision of passing a puck on ice together with the skating & shooting & the defense (a defensemen stopping a skater at 30 miles per hour dead in his tracks with a body check) & the goaltending ... (I am a goaltender) is just the most amazing thing.

I remember even as a child being so enamored with it. I remember listening to Marv Albert do the Rangers games on radio (I did not have a T.V. as a kid, since my parents thought it was a bad influence) & hearing him announce the game as I would jump up & down on my bed totally mesmerized with him (I was around 5 at the time). I dreamed of being a hockey player & indeed I started to play at age 5 & have not stopped since. I... till a few years ago would actually play hockey 5 times a week on average. I still play, though now only once a week.

i guess it's because I grew up in the shadow of Yankee Stadium, baseball always seemed larger than life. The original Yankee Stadium in the early 70's in the South Bronx was like this huge glowing jewel left in the middle of a junk yard (I'm from the Bronx so I can say that, but please don't YOU call the Bronx names!! haha).

I'm sure hockey is alot better if you've played it.

Yeah but I live in Manhattan now. I tried to live in the Bronx a few years back but I had to leave after only around a month, I've become a Manhattanite. I like walking everywhere if I can and I never got a driver's license.

I think Trues might close this forum if we don't discuss mods soon!!!

Umm, I'm working on a Hank Aaron face.

There, that sentence was about mods.

They say God loves all His children, just as I love all my faces, even the ones that come out like my avatar.

A NYer who grew up loving hockey! That's like a Canadian loving egg creams.

Here's a cool shot of Dwight Evans making a catch against the Yankees:

...and here's another face I'm working on, Sparky Lyle, throwing curves and sliders at the Red Sox:

When I was a boy, I named my dog Sparky after Sparky Lyle, who won the Cy Young as a RELIEVER for the Yankees--that doesn't happen too often.
