-moose-
I'm getting kinda frustrated with my starters... in real life, Trot Nixon sits against most lefties and Jay Payton takes his place... but if I do this in game, Trot gets ticked off about his playing time. Same thing with 'tek - even though I use Miribelli only for Wakefield, varitek is 'very unhappy' with his playing time. What the crap is that? And lastly, is there any way to go to a 6 man rotation? You cant designate a 6th SP in the roster mode, but you can obviously use a RP when starting a game... i'd like to go to 6 with Wade Miller as my 6th if possible. (although just plain out releasing Wells is becoming more and more a possibility but that would leave me without a lefty starter)
jonnyd
ha in my dynasty with the mets i've played about 115 games, david wright has played like 100 of them (missed 5 due to injury and started about 95 of those games) and hes complaining about his playing time. he's 4th on my team in HR's, 6th in RBI, 5th in AVG. and i just gave him a new 15 million for 5 year deal. maybe its his spot in the batting order, hes batting in the 6 spot behind floyd and in front of cameron. meanwhile my team is 106-9 (played on pro for almost all of my season). at least jose reyes is happy. peterbernard
Yeah last year in real life Tony Clark was happy to come off the Yankee's bench. In the MVP 2004 game, he was demanding full-time play. I devised a way to deal with it that is sort of cheating, but since it's correcting what I feel is a flaw in the game, I don't view it as cheating. Here it is, it works this year as well: Start a dynasty or owner mode and let it play by itself (simming) for the first month or two till you get the attitudes of all the players to how you want to play them. Make note of the problem players. Then quit that dynasty or owner mode without saving, go to "Manage Rosters" and then hit the Windows key to get back to Windows. Open MVPEdit and demote those problem players all the way down to A ball. Reduce their pay if you want to. Go all out in insulting them, because it lowers the AI's confidence level in the player. Then export the roster and go back into the game. RESET ROSTERS, Save, and load rosters. Start your new dynasty or owner mode. Try to resign your problem players to long-term minor league contracts. Then bring them up as platoon players and within a month they should at least be grey-faced, if not yellow or green-faced. It's kind of what the Yankees did to El Duque a little while back to re-motivate him. Only this isn't being mean to a real person, only getting an annoying imaginary character to behave as he would in real life. Hope this wasn't too confusing and hope it helps somehwat. If you can think of a shorter way to accomplish this, PLEASE TELL ME!
peterbernard
jonnyd: Do you have Wright in all 4 lineups? I noticed if you leave them listed in the official lineups it sometimes helps. You can remove them when you're beginning the game that day. Also with pitchers, if a reliever is complaining, you can stick him in the starting rotation to quiet him but never use him as a starter. I've had to put Mariano Rivera in the starting rotation when he was leading the league in saves because he was complaining about his playing time. It's a real glitch in the game. jonnyd
yeah hes in all 4 lineups. im hoping that by the end of the year it'll go away when he sees time in the playoffs and most likely wins the world series. it could also be because i waited until mid-season to restructure his contract that he was very unhappy about it. I've just noticed it with a few guys tho, even on my minor league teams. They have contracts that promise them everyday playing time, which they get, but if they get hurt and miss a few games they get mad. But guys like Esix Snead, who i brought up from AAA Norfolk when cliff floyd was out for 3 months (his contract was cheap but was a backup outfielder), are really happy with their playing time even since floyd has been back and he only PH's or plays outfield once every 2 weeks. GBrushThreepwood
Yes this is a retarded problem. It just shows a lack of vision on behalf of the developers to not include the ability for the AI to recognize a platoon between position players. This shouldn't result in unhappines with the players, it's meant to keep them fresh. I'd prefer if instead of including half-assed features like this player happiness thing, they either make it completely right, or not include it at all. It should be easy to fix this problem as well by having the ability to denote a platoon, or scheduled off days, or personal catchers, or what have you. It should have been done. :-
bhogg
In my cubs dynasty, Nomar complains all the time. He's played every game possible and was injured for 2 weeks. He may complain, but he still prouduces. . . .381/14/34 through 55 games.
cybernetic
To use 6 starters.. put one in long relief and start him in the event that u need to use the 6th guy
cybernetic
If a guy is playing everyday the reason he's complaining is cuz he doesnt get enough at-bats and could be fixed if u move him up in the lineup
acpython1
They also complain if they don't like their contract. Nomar might want to be "MLB Indispensible" instead of "MLB Everyday". or he might just want more money.
Stix
I'm also having this problem too. Adam LaRoche plays against righties, but sits against lefties w/o DH because Julio Franco is better vs. lefties. I always get those annoying little e mails about how he's frustrated with his playing time even though he's in 3 of the 4 lineups. With the whole "backup" or "everyday", it seems all my(or atleast most) AAA players demand everyday MLB contracts. They won't resign unless I give it to them, and then next season they complain about it. It makes me frustrated with them and wanna release them. cybernetic
This is a result of the rosters and many of the minor leagues are signed for 3 and 4 year contracts but they aren't listed as having more than 1-2 on it in the roster sets
Fastflink2009
Ya, this happens alot to me. I had a guy who was the closer and he was complaining about his playing time even though there was nothing i could do. I think that they should be happy if they are a closer at least because that is one of the main pitching spots.
