Keirik
hey guys, I was wondering what the chances are of replacing the night sky textures with something more realistic. Anyone who's gone to a night game knows that the sky never looks very clear, dark, and full of stars like they do in mvp. Basically what i'm looking for is a blended night sky that has a smokey grey, red, blue among other colors to represent a more realistic ballpark feel. A normal night game sky looks very illuminated due to the lights.

RRodkey
I've made a few custom night sky textures because the default one are terrible. But I ran into a problem. The "skydome" for the night versions of most stadiums stretches the textures very badly. For example, if you add stars, they become elongated and distorted - even when using a large, hi-res texture. Clouds also become blurred and stretched in an unrealstic way. I think this is why EA didn't spend much time making quality night textures. I've had success with a few stadiums. I installed a custom "sunset" sky to the Polo Grounds that came out really nice (full of orange and reddish hues). But when used for certain other stadiums as a "night" sky, it becomes distorted. It's all pretty much trial and error.
mastasports1
That distortion occurs because the bitmap is being stretched over the entire sky in the game. You would need to make the stars smaller and replicate any unproportional distortion.
olyrunner
I played around with Safeco a bit, thinking I could create dusk like I did in the AAA stadium. Somewhere I went wrong (it just made a really dark sunset). I think I'll keep it, though:

Keirik
oly, those skies looks great for a night sky. They get a little bit darker with more of a greyish tone to it and it's almost exactly what im looking for. IMO there really shouldn't be any stars in the sky at a baseball game. The lights are so brigh that usuallt the entire sky above the stadium is very grey rather than black. Grey=too light for stars to shine. :)
