Lual
I was just wondering who your closer is because in the last two games you have had two different people close the game. Good Question Officially its Graves, but with his attitude and the fact im trying to shift him, ive been trying out some alternatives - especially as next year its a position that will need filling. Cheers for checking in :wtg:

Lual
Game 3: Cincinnati Reds (42-62) @ San Diego Padres (54-50) Reds Take Series! Above: Encarnacion fills in at 3B and drives in 2 runs, Right: Job Done! The Reds take the series from the Padres 2-1, after an impressive 6-3 win at Petco. Cincinnati always had the lead, and where grateful to a 4 run 6th inning, which sealed victory. Encarnacion filling in for a rested Randa, made a name for himself with a 2RBI single, which put the icing on the cake for the Reds. Robertson struggled to get through his innings, so Blackley got his first MLB win for the Reds with a solid 2.1IP with 0H. Urbina also came in to get the save, further enhancing his claim to take the Closers role on a full time basis. Back home now for the Reds, to kickstart August against the Atlanta Braves. Milton and Smoltz are the Probables. Reds Talk: Miley: "Travis pitched well out there, we hope to give him more innings, and maybe a start by the end of the season" O'Brien (GM): "No moves for us, but we are looking at re-signing and restructuring a few contracts before the off-season" Reds Notables: Hitting: Jimenez - 2/5 Pena - 2/4 LaRue - 3/4, 1RBI, 2 Double Encarnacion - 2RBI Casey & Dunn - 1RBI Pitching: Robertson - 4.2I 6H 3R 3ER 1BB 1K 1HR 4.50ERA Blackley - 2.1I 0H 0R 0ER 0BB 1K 0HR 2.38ERA W(1-0) Urbina - 2I 0H 0R 0ER 0BB 2K 0HR 2.34ERA (Save 6) Box: R H E CIN 6 12 0 SD 3 6
Lual
Upcoming Series - 3 Games Home vs Atlanta Braves Game 1: Atlanta Braves (44-62) @ Cincinnati Reds (43-62) Grand Slam! Above: Pena homers again, Right: Grand Slam Griffey, thats 27 for Junior this year Ken Griffey Jr capped off a 9 run 6th inning for the Reds with a Grand Slam, as they came from 3-2 down to clinch a 12-4 win over the Braves at GABP. Up until the blowout 6th, the game was tight and looking to be favoring the Braves. Smoltz however blew things, as he let the Reds load the bases with 0 outs, and then couldnt stop the runs coming home. Pena homered in the 2nd, and Jimenez in the 8th to add to the Reds stats, as they record their biggest win of the year. Milton is happier now he is back on winning ways, moving to 11-8 for the year. Some bas news was that Reds Catcher, Jason LaRue was substituted from the game after inflaming his right elbow in a slide to 2nd. It has been confirmed he will miss 14 days of action, as Josh Willingham will now start as the Reds Catcher. Reds Talk: Griffey: "Id love to hit 40 again this year, im making up for some lost time" Jimenez: "It felt good, 1 pitch and it was gone, i like that" Reds Notables: Hitting: Griffey - 2/5, 1HR, 4RBI, 1 Double Pena - 3/4, 1HR, 2RBI Jimenez - 1/1, 1HR, 1RBI Willingham, Casey, Lopez - 1RBI Pitching: Milton - 7I 10H 4R 4ER 0BB 4K 1HR 4.78ERA W(11- Brazoban - 2I 2H 0R 0ER 0BB 0K 0HR 3.26ERA Box: R H E ATL 4 12 0 CIN 12 11

Lual
Game 2: Atlanta Braves (44-63) @ Cincinnati Reds (44-62) Not So Brave's'! Above: Pena jacks 2 more, as he goes 4 for 4, Right: Willingham hits only his 2nd MLB Homer, and his 1st as a Red Cincinnati again comeback from a defecit to crush the Braves, this time thanks to a 4 home run game, including 2 from Pena and 1 a piece from Dunn and Willingham. The Braves took the lead on a 4 hit 1st inning, before they sunk into a slump, allowing the Reds to come out on top. The key innings where the 4 run 7th and 3 run 8th, which sent the Reds 9-1 up. Hampton looked lost on the mound, as he failed to maintain control. On the other hand, Wilson gave up just 6 hits in his 7IP, giving the Reds the perfect base for a win. 2 straight series wins now for the Reds, who will be looking to sweep the Braves before the Marlins arrive in Cincinnati. Reds Talk: Willingham: "Ive been waiting for my chance, so its good to put some numbers up to prove i can hit in this lineup" Pena: "Everything seems to be working for me at the moment. I want to stay hot for as long as i can, as im enjoying this success" Reds Notables: Hitting: Lopez - 2/4, 2RBI Pena - 4/4, 2HR, 2RBI Dunn - 1/4, 1HR, 2RBI Randa - 3/4, 1RBI, 1 Double Willingham - 2/3, 1HR, 1RBI Pitching: Wilson - 7I 6H 1R 1ER 0BB 3K 0HR 4.02ERA W(7-7) Urbina - 1I 0H 0R 0ER 0BB 1K 0HR 2.31ERA Yan - 1I 1H 1R 1ER 1BB 0K 1HR 3.00ERA Box: R H E ATL 2 7 1 CIN 9 11

Lual
Game 3: Atlanta Braves (44-64) @ Cincinnati Reds (45-62) Harang Ks 'em! Above: Aaron Harang pitches all 10 innings, picking up 9Ks, Right: Lopez singles to center, to bring home the winning run in the 10th The final game between these 2, and the Reds yet again come from behind to beat the Braves, this time after 10 innings. Atlanta rushed into a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning, as Harang looked shaky on the mound. No-one then expected him to complete 10 innings of work, striking out 9, as he kept the Braves at bay for the Reds to comeback. Lopez proved to be the hero in the 10th, as his single to center bought home Willingham from 2nd. Lopez also tied the game in the 5th, with a single to bring home Dunn. Randa added the other Reds run. Cincinnati now have a 4 game winning streak to take into their series against the high flying Marlins. Reds Talk: Lopez: "I enjoyed stepping up and producing for this team" Harang: "Im feeling good after that. I know they wanted me out of there after 7 innings, but i just said i wanted to keep pitching" Reds Notables: Hitting: Lopez - 2/5, 2RBI, 1 Double Dunn - 2/4, 1 Double Willingham - 2/4, 1 Double Randa - 1/3, 1RBI Pitching: Harang - 10I 9H 2R 2ER 1BB 9K OHR 2.76ERA W(7-3) Box: R H E ATL 2 9 2 CIN 3 7

Lual
Roster News: The News from the Reds Front Office today, indicated that Danny Graves has been sent to AAA Louisville to end his career and contract as a Reds player. Graves hasnt been seen around the club since his alledged altercation with Dunn after the Cubs series. And todays news will add weight to that story, as Graves (presumbly now fit) will not be allowed back into the Reds Clubhouse. Replacing Graves will be the Bats Closer 'Gary Majewski'. Maj' was acquired in a trade with the Nationals, and has put up some good numbers in AAA. However, his role for the Reds will be as MRP, as Urbina has been designated the Closers role, and Esteban Yan at Setup man Graves has yet to comment on this, though expect some fireworks in Louisville. The Reds Front Office released a brief statement: "For the good of the ballclub, we have called up a good young pitcher and sent down a struggling player. Our decision was purely to improve our chances on the field"

Lual
Upcoming Series - 3 Games Home vs Florida Marlins Game 1: Florida Marlins (65-43) @ Cincinnati Reds (46-62) Marlins Bite! Above: Claussen has a bad day on the mound, Right: Familiar sight! The Marlins snapped the Reds 4 game winning streak by hammering out a 7 run 4th inning, to setup a 8-3 win at the GABP. Claussen struggled on the mound lasting just 4 innings, as he was battered around by the Marlins hitters, giving up homers to Castillo, Delgado and Conine in the fateful 4th inning. Griffey and Dunn whacked their 28th homers of the year, in the Reds consolation 3 runs. But it wasnt to be a miracle comeback for the hosts. Travis Blackley impressed yet again on the mound, as he stepped in for 4 innings, giving up just 3 hits and striking out 7 batters as the Reds will see him as a potential starter come next season. Reds Talk: Miley: "We are capable of coming through the tough times, and becoming a better team for it" Claussen: "Rough game all round for me, theres still alot of things i need to learn" Reds Notables: Hitting: Griffey - 2/4, 1HR, 1RBI Dunn - 2/4, 1HR, 1RBI Pena - 1/3, 1RBI Pitching: Claussen - 4I 9H 8R 8ER 1BB 1K 3HR 3.41ERA L(6-5) Blackley - 4I 3H 0R 0ER 1BB 7K 0HR 1.76ERA Mercker - 1I 1H 0R 0ER 0BB 1K 0HR 4.97ERA Box: R H E FLA 8 13 0 CIN 3 7
Lual
Game 2: Florida Marlins (66-43) @ Cincinnati Reds (46-63) Marlins Continue Streak! Above: Dunn makes it 29 dingers, as the Reds led 7-3, Right: Miley cant believe the late innings collapse The Reds managed to blow a 7-3 lead in 3 crazy innings, as the Marlins came back to win 8-7 in the 9th inning. Cincinnati had raced ahead in the 5th inning, with a 6 run haul including a 3 run shot by Griffey and Dunn adding another solo shot to add to last nights effort. The rot soon set in though, as Brazoban pitched a rocky 6th inning, giving up 2 homers (Castillo & Easley) as the Marlins closed the gap to 7-4. Delgado addded 1 more run with his 2nd solo shot of the game in the 8th, before Urbina should of closed things down in the 9th. The Marlins took advantage of Urbinas poor day, as they put on 4 hits, and 3 runs to take a 8-7 lead which Mota would make sure was saved. Theres alot of work still to be done in Cincinnati as they complete their home stand with the final match against the Marlins with Milton on the mound. Reds Talk: Miley: "Wasteful, i think that sums up our whole season, losing games we should have won" Urbina: "They had some crazy momentum, i didnt feel in control out there" Reds Notables: Hitting: Freel - 2/5 Griffey - 1/5, 1HR, 3RBI Dunn - 2/4, 1HR, 1RBI Casey - 2/4, 1RBI, 1 Double Randa & Willingham - 1RBI Pitching: Robertson - 5I 5H 1R 1ER 0BB 1K 1HR 4.27ERA Brazoban - 1I 4H 3R 3ER 0BB 1K 2HR 3.65ERA Dominguez - 2I 2H 1R 1ER 0BB 0K 1HR 4.47ERA Urbina - 1I 4H 3R 3ER 0BB 0K 0HR 2.61ERA L(7-4) Box: R H E FLA 8 15 2 CIN 7 11

Above: Milton clings on to a liner, Right: Adam Dunn does the trot Florida swept the series in Cincinnati after a hitfest against the Reds, saw them put 12 runs on the board via 21 hits. Cincinnati themselves racked up 14 hits, but could only reply with 5 runs, including another dinger by Dunn. Milton proved to be Mr Clutch with the bat, but Mr Fluff on the mound. He went 3/3 with 2RBIs but also pitched 6I giving up 17H and 11R in a woeful display, leaving him 11-9 on the year. The Reds now face a couple of road series, firstly in Chicago and then off to Milwaukee as the NL Wildcard chasers will be hoping to get a maximum return from the visit of the Reds. Reds Talk: O'Brien (GM): "We hope Miley will stay on as Manager, this team needs consistency so it would be unwise for us to shift him on" Milton: "I think i might be better off as a DH in the AL..." Lual
Upcoming Series - 3 Games @ Chicago Cubs Game 1: Cincinnati Reds (46-65) @ Chicago Cubs (57-54) Cubbie Comeback! Above: Pena jacks the Reds ahead, Right: Nook Logan less than impressed with his playing time! Back to Back homers in the 10th inning sealed a remarkable comeback win for the Cubs, as they punish veteran reliever Kent Mercker for 2 bad pitch locations. It was the Reds who forced the extra innings, thanks to Pena drilling a solo shot in the 8th to tie it 2-2. Pena then drove in the leading run in the 10th, as the Reds hoped they could nick game 1 of 3. Alas Mercker pitched 2 balls, both went out of the park as Walker and then Patterson drove Wrigley Field wild. Wilson will be disappointed his 9I effort is not rewarded, as the Reds Bullpen is again becoming an achilles heel. Reds Talk: Miley: "Yet again we throw the game away. Kent knows better than to leave balls out on the plate like that" Mercker: "That will never happen again, 2 pitches, 2 homers, i cant believe that just happened to me" Reds Notables: Hitting: Lopez - 3/5, 1RBI, 1 Double, 1 Triple Freel - 2/5 Pena - 3/5, 1HR, 2RBI Casey - 2/4 Pitching: Wilson - 9I 7H 2R 2ER 0BB 3K 1HR 3.91ERA Mercker - 0.0I 2H 2R 2ER 0BB 0K 2HR 5.30ERA L(1-6) Box: R H E CIN 3 12 0 CHC 4 9
Lual
Game 2: Cincinnati Reds (46-66) @ Chicago Cubs (58-54) Cubs Pushing Hard For Wildcard! Above: The Reds hussle on the bases and field with heart, but still slip to another defeat in Chicago! The Cubs come away with another victory against the Reds, with a comfortable 5-1 scoreline. Cincinnati failed to make any real impact on the Cubs pitching, as Williams held the Reds to just 6 hits in his 7IP. Joe Randa was the only Red to put any numbers together going 3/4 with an RBI. Harang wasnt awful, and Blackley looked decent again in his 2IP, but without any offence it was always going to be tough against the Run Machine Cubs. 1 more left in Chicago for the Reds to avoid a double sweep and to stop the streak heading to 6 losses. Reds Talk: Randa: "We gotta keep up with the hussle. This team deserves some luck" Blackley: "Im enjoying my time on the mound, everythings a learning process" Reds Notables: Hitting: Randa - 3/4, 1RBI Pitching: Harang - 6I 7H 4R 4ER 2BB 2K 0HR 2.96ERA L(7-4) Blackley - 2I 2H 1R 1ER 0BB 2K 0HR 2.08ERA Box: R H E CIN 1 8 0 CHC 5 9
Lual
Game 3: Cincinnati Reds (46-67) @ Chicago Cubs (59-54) Winning Is A Sin For Cinci! Above: Willy Mo' hits his 2nd homer of the series, Right: Claussen chalked up 4Ks in 5IP! The series ends how it started, as the Reds throw away a 6-3 lead, to go down 7-6 as the Cubs picked up a vital sweep in their chase to win the Wildcard place. The Reds should have won, going into a 5-2 then 6-3 lead, the Reds needed just to pitch through 3 innings to avoid the sweep. Brazoban was the first 'Cin'ner as he gave up 3 hits and 2 runs in the 6th. Yan then allowed the tying homer in the 7th, before Lee jacked the winning homer in the 8th, as the Reds fell away yet again. Next stop for the Reds is Milwaukee, as they will hope to avoid yet more defeats, as they are heading towards the MLB worst record status. Reds Talk: Miley: "Baseballs a 9 inning game, we play for 6 or 7... you can see why we are 18GB in the Central" Yan: "No ones happy with how its going. Every loss is tough to take for us" Reds Notables: Hitting: Pena - 2/4, 1HR, 2RBI, 1 Double Dunn - 2/3, 1RBI, 1 Double Griffey - 1/4, 2RBI, 1 Double Freel - 1/4, 1RBI Pitching: Claussen - 5I 5H 3R 3ER 1BB 4K 0HR 3.49ERA Brazoban - 1I 3H 2R 2ER 1BB 1K 0HR 3.88ERA Yan - 2I 4H 2R 2ER 0BB 3K 2HR 3.18ERA L(0-1) Box: R H E CIN 6 8 1 CHC 7 12
