Lual
Game 2: Chicago Cubs (2-3) @ Cincinnati Reds (4-0) Reds Go Nap! Above: Count 'em, thats 4 dingers for Pena in 5 games. Right: Dominguez plays tough defence to help himself get the win! 5-0, Read it Reds fans as it may not last, but for now you guys are 5-0 and on top of the NL Central as the MLB's only undefeated team left. Dominguez got the job done today, with a little help from the Reds Bullpen. Juan picked up the win after 5 solid innings, where he gave up just 1 run, as the Reds offence backed him with 6 early runs of their own. Pena again hit a homerun, making it 4 for the year, as he went 4/4 in the game proving his worth to this organisation. Ryan Freel also added a rare homer, as the Reds raced into a 6-1 lead. The Cubs did attempt a rally, and put on 2 runs late in the game, but Alfonseca came in to get the final out, and clinch a big win for the Reds over their rivals. Carlos Zambrano will start tomorrows game, as he faces his old club, who will start with their own 'Ace' Mark Prior. Reds Talk: Miley: "We are getting the fundamentals right. Good pitching, sprinkling of offence and alot of hussle, thats the difference between 5-0 and 1-4" Pena: "Im swinging and hitting, theres not much else to tell about this run" Reds Notables: Hitting: Freel - 2/5, 1HR, 1RBI Griffey - 2/4, 1RBI Pena - 4/4, 1HR, 1RBI, 1 Double Willingham - 2/4, 2RBI, 2 Double Dominguez - 1RBI Pitching: Dominguez - 5I 5H 1R 1ER 2BB 1K 1HR 1.80ERA W(1-0) Parrish - 1I 2H 0R 0ER 0BB 0K 0HR 0.00ERA Yan - 2I 0H 1R 0ER 0BB 0K 0HR 0.00ERA Julio - 0.2I 1H 1R 1ER 0BB 0K 1HR 6.75ERA Alfonseca - 0.1I 0H 0R 0ER 0BB 0K 0HR 0.00ERA Box: R H E CHC 3 8 0 CIN 6 12
Lual
Game 3: Chicago Cubs (2-4) @ Cincinnati Reds (5-0) Manufacturing A Win! Above: Zambrano chalks up 6Ks in 8.1IP, Right: Casey dives to record a big out! Some fans come to watch dingers, slugfests, run chases and all out action. Others, maybe the more traditional fans, come to see 2 great pitchers duel it out, as the offence's try to work out what pitch is next. Todays game took favor of the latter, as 1 run decided a matchup that saw just 8 hits. The run came in the 4th inning, a single, a stolen base, a sac hit to move the runner to 3rd, then a sac fly to score. Well, your all thinking the Reds streak had to end soon?.... but not today, this was a hard earned run and win, as Lopez, Griffey and Pena combined for that 4th inning run. Zambrano pitched a tough 8.1I, giving up just 4 hits and 3BB, whilst inking 6Ks to earn his 2nd win of the year. Alfonseca then came in with 2 men on base in the 9th, to force a double play, and end the game in an instant. Its a miracle 6-0 start, for the Reds, who last year barely mustered this many wins in all of April. Reds Talk: Miley: "We are grinding it out daily at the moment. Carlos pitched a massive game out there, and as you all know, a little bit of smallball, can go a long way" Zambrano: "Its nice to put my old team away, Marks a great pitcher, so im not surprised at how close this game was" Reds Notables: Hitting: Lopez - 3/3 Pena - 1RBI Pitching: Zambrano - 8.1I 4H 0R 0ER 3BB 6K 0HR 1.17ERA W(2-0) Alfonseca - 0.2I 0H 0R 0ER 0BB 0K 0HR 0.00ERA (Save 2) Box: R H E CHC 0 4 0 CIN 1 4

Lual
Stat Chasing Reds: With the season starting on a high with 6 straight wins for the Reds, we take a look at some of those players involved, and what 'Career Stat' they may acheive come the end of the season. First up, the big one, Ken Griffey Jr. He currently has 539 homers, and although 600 may be out of the question this year, he should shuffle alot closer to that standout mark. Others chasing a notable homerun total are, Will Mo Pena, currently on 77, and should easily make his 100 this year. And Adam Dunn who is sat on 157, and with a 40+ season, he could make a dent into 200 career. Ryan Freel is coming to the end of 1 chase for a stat, as he stands on 99 Stolen Bags, leaving just 1 more for the one double zero. Pitchers looking to add numbers for their career are: Carlos Zambrano - 43 wins and 595Ks Aaron Harang - 287Ks Ugueth Urbina - 787Ks All these should move into the next century for Ks, and with a bit of luck, Zambrano could pitch his 50th win of a young career. Though with all these stats potentially rewarding the individual, the 1 stat that the whole of Cincinnati wants, is number 6........
Lual
Upcoming Series - 3 Games @ Colorado Rockies Game 1: Cincinnati Reds (6-0) @ Colorado Rockies (2-4) Rocky' Reds! Above: Casey cant make the grab, Right: Claussen's day just got worse! Back down to earth, the Reds lose 12-5 as the Rockies put on a show at Coors Field. Helton led the demolition with 2 dingers in 4 innings, as the Rockies rolled into a 7-1 4th inning lead. Parrish then came in to pitch another fateful inning as he gave up 4 more runs, as Colorado went 11-1 ahead. Encarnacion, Pena and Kotchman all hit homers as the Reds kept things respectable, but the 12-5 loss will hurt everyones pride. Reds Talk: Miley: "Hey, it was going to happen, you cant win every game. I just hope we have learned a lesson today, and improve our game from it" Claussen: "That was rough, real rough. Todd's got an awesome bat, and his 2 dingers pretty much sumed up my performance" Reds Notables: Hitting: Pena - 1/4, 1HR, 1RBI Encarnacion - 2/4, 1HR, 3RBI, 1 Double Kotchman - 1/1, 1HR, 1RBI Pitching: Claussen - 4I 7H 7R 7ER 2BB 2K 1HR 6.10ERA L(1-1) Parrish - 1I 5H 4R 4ER 1BB 0K 0HR 9.00ERA Yan - 3I 3H 1R 1ER 0BB 3K 1HR 1.50ERA Box: R H E CIN 5 6 0 COL 12 15
Lual
Game 2: Cincinnati Reds (6-1) @ Colorado Rockies (3-4) Oh No'lio! Above: Dunn and Hill hit bombs, but its not enough! The Rockies nail the Reds for the 2nd time, as they came back in the 7th inning to overturn a 3-2 defecit, thanks to a bad innings work by Jorge Julio. The Reds took the lead thanks to a pair of bombs by Adam Dunn, and a Sac Fly via Lopez. Colorado made sure they stayed close with a pair Wilson and Mohr homers, leaving them free to blast away Julio in the 7th. 5 hits, 1 dinger and 3 runs, left the Reds cursing their new reliever, as he literally threw away all the hardwork put in by the team to hold a slender advantage. Bobby Hill did pinch hit a homer for the Reds in the 9th, but that was all the offence generated, as the Rockies held out for a win which takes them to .500. Reds Talk: Julio: "My stuff seemed to disappear after the 1st out. I take the blame for this loss, its one that shouldnt have happened" Dunn: "Its a weird ballpark to play in. Its definately homerun friendly, but we need to make more of it" Reds Notables: Hitting: Dunn - 3/4, 2HR, 2RBI Casey - 2/4 Hill - 1/1, 1HR, 1RBI Lopez - 1RBI Pitching: Harang - 6I 10H 2R 2ER 0BB 2K 2HR 3.75ERA Julio - 1I 5H 3R 3ER 0BB 0K 1HR 12.27ERA Urbina - 1I 1H 0R 0ER 0BB 1K 0HR 3.60ERA Box: R H E CIN 4 9 0 COL 5 16

Lual
Game 3: Cincinnati Reds (6-2) @ Colorado Rockies (4-4) Rocky' Rockie' Series! Above: Dominguez shows his stuff, Right: Pena's bomb is not enough! Colorado wrap up a series sweep over the Reds thanks to a 4 run 2nd inning to see off the Reds 4-2. Dominguez gave up 5 hits and 4 runs in the fateful 2nd inning, as this blip eventually cost the Reds the game. Bar that inning, Dominguez actually pitched a solid game, racking up 6Ks. Pena did provide a spark of hope for the Reds, with a 2 run dinger in the 6th, but it proved fruitless as the Reds could only muster 6 hits themselves, and fell to a 3rd straight loss at the hands of the Rockies. Next up is a trip to LA, where the 6-4 Dodgers will be hoping to take advantage of a confidence sapped Reds. Reds Talk: Miley: "That was a tough series, and to be honest im glad we are now out of Colorado" Dominguez: "One bad inning is all it takes to lose a ball game, and thats what happened to me" Reds Notables: Hitting: Freel - 2/4, 2 Triple Dunn - 2/4, 1 Double Pena - 1/4, 1HR, 2RBI Pitching: Dominguez - 7I 5H 4R 4ER 0BB 6K 0HR 3.75ERA L(1-1) Yan - 1I 0H 0R 0ER 0BB 1K 0HR 1.29ERA Box: R H E CIN 2 6 0 COL 4 5
Lual
Upcoming Series - 3 Games @ Los Angeles Dodgers Game 1: Cincinnati Reds (6-3) @ Los Angeles Dodgers (6-4) Ill Take A Dozen! Above: Whats that Griffey? Right: CZ puts the Dodgers away! The Reds opened up on the Dodgers, as everyones game came together in a 12-2 romp in LA. Think Blue, turned into Stink Blue, as Dunn hit a pair of bombs with Griffey adding another, as the Reds put 17 hits on the board, amassing 12 runs, 5 from Dunn's hot bat. On the mound, Zambrano owned the Dodgers lineup, giving up just 2 runs, both homers, that came in the midst of a 9K complete game performance. Meanwhile Dodgers Ace' Odalis Perez fell shy of 3IP, as he gave up 6 runs in a rare rough start. This win will again put the Reds in the limelight, and will give the team some confidence to take into the rest of series. Reds Talk: Miley: "Thats the response i was asking for on our flight here. I told the players we have to show we are not going to crumble, and that performance is why this club has to be taken seriously this year" Dunn: "Thats the sort of game i like, a win and a couple of bombs" Reds Notables: Hitting: Lopez - 2/5 Griffey - 1/4, 1HR, 2RBI Pena - 4/5, 1RBI Dunn - 4/4, 2HR, 5RBI, 1 Double Casey - 2/5, 2RBI Molina - 2/5 Encarnacion - 2RBI Pitching: Zambrano - 9I 6H 2R 2ER 0BB 9K 2HR 1.48ERA W(3-0) Box: R H E CIN 12 17 0 LA 2 6
Lual
Game 2: Cincinnati Reds (7-3) @ Los Angeles Dodgers (6-5) Reds Sneak Past LA! Above: Casey makes a grab over the railings, Right: Alfonseca has his 3rd save of the year! Game 2 proved to be a tigher affair, but the end result was the same as the Reds walked away with a 3-0 win. 1 run came in the 6th, before another 2 where added in the 9th, as the Reds put some insurance on the board to give Alfonseca a cushion to pitch with. Claussen picked up his 2nd win of the year, after a 6IP 8H showing. This was complimented by a 11 hit showing, in which Freel, Griffey and Encarnacion put the runs on the board for the Reds. Another notable stat came in the form of Ryan Freel's 100th Stolen Base, giving him the reputation as one of the current MLB stars on the basepaths. LA couldnt put together any significant offence, and fell into countless double plays, as the Reds stepped up their game to chalk up their 8th win of the year. Reds Talk: Alfonseca: "Keep the chances coming, and ill make sure i put the saves on the board" Freel: "Its not a huge achievement, but its nice to have 100 bags to my name" Reds Notables: Hitting: Freel - 2/4, 1RBI Lopez - 2/5, 1 Double Griffey - 2/4, 1RBI Encarnacion - 2/4, 1RBI Pitching: Claussen - 6I 8H 0R 0ER 1BB 2K 0HR 3.86ERA W(2-1) Parrish - 2I 0H 0R 0ER 0BB 1K 0HR 6.00ERA Alfonseca - 1I 2H 0R 0ER 0BB 2K 0HR 0.00 (Save 3) Box: R H E CIN 3 11 0 LA 0 10

Lual
Game 3: Cincinnati Reds (8-3) @ Los Angeles Dodgers (6-6) LA' Sweep! Above: Harang watches as Lopez turns a big double play, Right: Miley is unmoved after seeing his team sweep the Dodgers! The Reds finish off the Dodgers with a convincing 9-3 win, having just a minor scare in the 6th when the Dodgers pulled it back to 4-3 for an inning. Willy Mo Pena's 2 run jack moved the Reds 3 clear in the 7th, before Casey ensured victory with his own 3 run bomb in the 9th, as the Reds mauled their hosts to complete the sweep. Harang looked in good shape on the mound, as he put together 8Ks in 5.2IP, but just didnt have the stamina and control to pitch deeper into the game. This moves the Reds to an impressive 9-3 record, as they head home to face the Giants, and then the Dodgers again. Reds Talk: Harang: "I put alot of effort into that today, i just couldnt keep going on like that without giving up this game" Lopez: "Signing the new contract has given me alot of confidence to do my job everyday. Im turning plays, and making my ABs count, and it feels good to contribute" Reds Notables: Hitting: Lopez - 3/5, 2RBI, 1 Double Griffey - 2/5, 1 Double Pena - 1/4, 1HR, 2RBI Casey - 2/4, 1HR, 3RBI Molina - 2/4 Hill - 1RBI Pitching: Harang - 5.2I 9H 3R 3ER 0BB 8K 1HR 4.08ERA W(2-0) Julio - 1.1I 1H 0R 0ER 0BB 0K 0HR 9.00ERA Yan - 2I 0H 0R 0ER 0BB 2K 0HR 1.00 Box: R H E CIN 9 13 2 LA 3 10
Lual
Upcoming Series - 3 Games Home vs San Francisco Giants Game 1: San Francisco Giants(8-5) @ Cincinnati Reds (9-3) Not So Giant'! Above: Dominguez looks every bit a MLB Starter, Right: Urbina sets up for the game winning catch! Back to the GABP for the Reds, who maintain their 100% home record, by crushing the Giants 8-2, after trailing 2-0 in the 4th. Bonds' 2 run jack had put the Giants in control, but a 5 run 5th inning from the Reds, soon let the Giants know who actually had control. Pena hit his 8th homerun of the year, as he proved to be the catalyst for the comeback. Lopez, Griffey, Hill and even Urbina all helped themselves to RBIs as the Reds put 8 on the board. Dominguez clinched his 2nd win of the year thanks to the 5 run 5th from the Reds, and with Brazoban and Urbina pitching solid relief, the Reds never looked in trouble. A miracle 10-3 start is the stuff of dreams for Cincinnati, and is a refreshing sight for many baseball purists, who remembered the glory days for this club in the 70s. Reds Talk: Miley: "I think the fans can be happy that we are 7-0 at the GABP this year. Theres a long road ahead of us, but the more support we get, the bigger a momentum we can build" O'Brien (GM): "A few changes here and there and this ballclub is now a contender. However, it has come at a cost, and there is no real room for us to add to the roster, unless we offload some salary" Reds Notables: Hitting: Freel - 2/5, 1RBI Griffey - 2/4, 1RBI, 1 Double Pena - 2/4, 1HR, 2RBI Encarnacion - 2/4 Hill - 1/1, 1RBI Urbina - 1/1, 1RBI, 1 Triple Lopez - 1RBI Pitching: Dominguez - 5I 7H 2R 2ER 1BB 4K 1HR 3.71ERA W(2-1) Brazoban - 2I 2H 0R 0ER 0BB 2K 0HR 0.00ERA Urbina - 2I 0H 0R 0ER 0BB 1K 0HR 2.57ERA Box: R H E SF 2 9 1 CIN 8 13
