It seems Pena hits a homerun every game... How are you so good with him?

tbh its because his stats are off the page... he progressed huge in the summer, thanks in main to his 40 homer year in 2005

plus i think myself as a player am starting to improve, so i am in the process of hardening the sliders.

Eric Milton came through 6 tough innings on his return to the team, to earn his 1st win, as the Reds held on to clinch the sweep of the Giants in a 5-4 victory.

Game 1: Los Angeles Dodgers(9-7) @ Cincinnati Reds (12-3)

Its All Red!

ga16.jpg

Above: Freel cranks a 3 run shot to put the Reds in control, Right: Julio collects the save, after a rocky 9th!

When will it ever end? Hopefully never for the long suffering Reds fans, who yet again see their team win at home for the 10th straight game, as they blast the Dodgers 10-5.

The game was tight until the 8th inning, when Freels 3 run bomb was part of a 6 run 8th inning, which sent the Reds 10-1 ahead.

Julio did have a blip in the 9th inning, giving up 2 homers and 4 runs, but the Dodgers had too much to do, in their attempt to comeback from the dead.

Royce Clayton also got his 1st homer in a Reds Uni', adding to RBIs from Pena, Encarnacion and a pair each for Willingham and Claussen.

Reds Talk:

Freel: "Im real happy right now, im feeling great, my games solid in all areas and the Reds are just a fun team to play for"

Game 2: Los Angeles Dodgers(9-8) @ Cincinnati Reds (13-3)

Dunn and Dusted!

ga17.jpg

Above: A 2-run bomb by Dunn seals the win, Right: Casey streches to make sure of the final out!

Chalk up number 14, and 8 straight, as the Reds sneak a 4-2 win over the Dodgers, thanks to Adam Dunn's 2 run dinger in the 5th.

The Reds hussled back from 1-0 and 2-1 defecits, to tie the game. Before Dunn came up big, as he drilled his shot deep to right center, and into the fans.

Harang again performed on the mound, as he put win number 3 in the bank, going 6IP 9H 2R 2K. Alfonseca again chipped in with the save, his 5th of the year.

The last home game in April for the Reds, as they finish off the Dodger series, before trips to New York and Pittsburgh.

Reds Talk:

Miley: "We are running on pure confidence at the moment. Theres nothing that seems impossible for us out there. Everyone is hitting the ball, our Pitchers are striking guys out, and we are just making plays. Hey, its a great time to love baseball in Cincinnati"

Dunn: "Im working on my game everyday, its natural to have slumps, and then come through in the clutch"

Game 3: Los Angeles Dodgers(9-9) @ Cincinnati Reds (14-3)

Beaten!

ga18.jpg

Above: Mo's 10th is not nearly enough, Right: Lopez fails to generate a run at the plate!

After 11 straight wins at the GABP, the Reds finally succumbed, as the Dodgers put them to bed with a 18 hit, 9 run display.

The Reds fought bravely to keep the game close, but where always chasing their tails, after Dominguez gave up 7 runs in just 4.1IP pitched. Pena's 2 run shot, and Freels 2RBI single did pull the game back to 7-5, but the Dodgers managed to squeeze away with further runs, to clinch a 9-5 win.

The pitching performance will be the Reds main concern, as Belisle and Yan combined for 6 walks, showing signs of the 2005 Reds Bullpen.

New York awaits the Reds, as the Mets will be looking to capatilise on the Reds loss, by taking the series. But with Zambrano, Milton and Claussen the 3 starters, you can guarentee that the Reds will not rollover with ease.

Reds Talk:

Miley: "It was bound to happen, but its not something to get all dramatic over. We are still 14-4 and way ahead of what anyone would of imagined we could have been"

Dominguez: "A bad days work for me"

Reds Notables:

Hitting:

Upcoming Series - 3 Games @ New York Mets

Game 1: Cincinnati Reds(14-4) @ New York Mets (7-12)

Shy Mets!

ga19.jpg

Above: Casey stretches to make the double play, Right: CZ has 5 wins in April!

The Reds take game 1 from the Mets after a 3 run 1st inning was all she wrote.

Griffey, Pena and Casey all put hits on the board, as the Reds had a 6 hit 1st inning showing, to score the runs that eventually won the game.

Zambrano pitched another complete game, shutting out the Mets, though he failed to dominate the K-Zone as he put just 1 on the board.

The Mets struggled to get into scoring position, and found themselves on the end of numerous double plays, and the victum's of a few web gems as the Reds hussled for 9 innings in the field.

Reds Talk:

O'Brien (GM): "The team is working well at the moment, the chemistry is better than its ever been. Keeping Miley has proven to be a good decision"

Zambrano: "Its still early in the year, but everything is feeling great, and im locating with every pitch. Of course id love to win the CY Young, but getting this team into the playoffs is my first target"

Game 2: Cincinnati Reds(15-4) @ New York Mets (7-13)

Pinch'ed It!

ga20.jpg

Above: Milton gives up the potential winning run, Right: Logan's Pinch Running, ties the game for the Reds!

It was all about Pinch Duties for the Reds, as they came back to snatch the win in 10 innings.

With the Mets taking the lead with a solo shot in the 8th inning, it appeared to be the end for the Reds. But with 1 out in the 9th, Encarnacion drilled a single to right to give the Reds a outside sniff.

Miley then called upon his bench, firstly in came Nook Logan to pinch run, as well as Bobby Hill to pinch hit for Milton. Logan promptly stole 2nd, before Hill drove him home with a long single to center.

With the Mets still in shock, Brazoban cleaned up the 9th, to allow for Willy Mo to prove clutch again, as he banged a 2 run shot into the car park, as the Reds dug themselves out of a hole to nick the win.

Reds Talk:

Miley: "Those are the wins that we can take the most from. Games where you earn your corn, always say alot more about a team rather than the blow out wins"

Logan: "Im not getting the playing time id like, but i told the Skip, put me in and ill do a job for you"

Game 3: Cincinnati Reds(16-4) @ New York Mets (7-14)

Mets Walk To Victory!

ga21.jpg

Above: Pena's 1st inning RBI is meaningless. Right: The bench can only watch Claussen crumble!

The Mets drew 7 walks and made only 5 hits, as they romped to a 7-1 win over the Reds.

David Wright's Grand Slam in the 4th inning put the Mets in control, after they had trailed early to a Pena RBI. Claussen had loaded the bases with 3 walks, before Wright made him pay with a shot that barely made it over the wall.

Into the 5th inning, and Carlos Beltran added to the Mets total, with his own 2 run shot giving the Mets a 6-1 cushion. 1 more run was added in the 6th, as the Reds pitching suffered a minor collapse.

Cincinnati couldnt convert their 10 hits into any more runs, leaving them with a rare taste of defeat, as they drop to 16-5, still 5 games ahead of the 2nd place Cardinals in the NL Central.

Reds Talk:

Miley: "Brandon will learn alot from today. He's still developing all the time, so these things will happen to him"

Claussen: "I didnt feel good, my arm seemed stiff, but i wanted to give it a workout. Pitching is all about control, i lost mine today and looked what happened"

Upcoming Series - 4 Games @ Pittsburgh Pirates

Game 1: Cincinnati Reds(16-5) @ Pittsburgh Pirates (8-13)

Urbina Overboard!

ga22.jpg

Above: Encarnacion makes a tough play, Right: Urbina blows up in the 8th!

The Pirates forced a 8th inning comeback, to beat the Reds 7-4, after trailing 4-3 with just 2 innings left.

Urbina had come in to pitch the 8th to get the Reds through to their closer, but after just recording 1 out, he gave up 4 runs in a disastorous spell at the mound.

The Reds had nothing left in their tank to change things in the 9th, and fell to their 2nd straight loss.

Reds Talk:
