Lual
Game 2: Cincinnati Reds(16-6) @ Pittsburgh Pirates (9-13) 9th Inning Choker! Above: Willingham makes a play at the plate, Right: Dunn's dinger is to no avail! Jorge Julio gave up 3 hits, and the walkoff winning run, as the Reds threw away all their hard work, to lose in the 9th inning 2-1. Dunn had tied things in the 9th with a 400foot dinger, putting the Reds deservedly back on terms. Belisle and Yan had given the Reds 4 solid innings of relief, leaving the team in good position to sneak a win. Alas, Julios random 9th inning, left the Reds on a 3 game losing streak, and ends April on a sour note. Ward was the Pirates hero, driving in both runs and making sure that the Pirates stand on the brink of a sweep against the high-flying Reds. Cincinnati still lead the NL Central, and should be content with a 16-7 record in April. Reds Talk: Julio: "I cant say too much, but their is a rift in the clubhouse. I feel im being made the scapegoat, but if im put in to pitch in tough situations, im not always going to have my good stuff" Dunn: "That loss hurts. To get back into the game in the 9th, only to blow it with some bad pitching, is... well its not acceptable if we want to challenge this year" Reds Notables: Hitting: Freel - 2/4 Dunn - 2/3, 1HR, 1RBI Willingham - 2/4 Pitching: Dominguez - 4I 3H 1R 1ER 2BB 1K OHR 5.33ERA Belisle - 3I 2H 0R 0ER 1BB 2K 0HR 0.93ERA Yan - 1I 1H 0R 0ER 0BB 2K 0HR 2.13ERA Julio - 0.1I 3H 1R 1ER 0BB 0K 0HR 11.42ERA L(0-2) Box: R H E CIN 1 8 0 PIT 2 9

Lual
Game 3: Cincinnati Reds(16-7) @ Pittsburgh Pirates (10-13) Reds Rally! Above: Lopez drops a simple catch, as the Reds start sluggishly, Right: Zambrano gets it done with the bat, bringing home the tying run! The Reds come back from 3-0 and 4-2 down, to snatch the win with a 3 run 6th inning. Zambrano had a mixed day, as he lasted just 5.2 innings, as he gave up 7H and 4R, although he racked up 8K. At the plate, he managed to drive in the tying run, as the Reds put up a fight. The Pirates looked to be heading for their 3rd straight against the Reds, before the Reds piled on the pressure by loading the bases in the 6th. The comeback was complete when the Reds bought home the winning run on a Wild Pitch. 1 more left in this tough series for the Reds, before they head off to Philadelphia, to face the high-flying Phillies. Reds Talk: Miley: "This has been a real tough series, but its good for us to have to scrap and fight for close wins" Zambrano: "If my pitching is off, at least i can get things done with the bat" Reds Notables: Hitting: Dunn - 2/2, 1 Double Casey, Molina, Encarnacion & Zambrano - 1RBI Pitching: Zambrano - 5.2I 7H 4R 4ER 0BB 8K 1HR 2.15ERA W(6-0) Brazoban - 0.1I 0H 0R 0ER 2BB 1K 0HR 0.00ERA Yan - 1I 0H 0R 0ER 1BB 0K 0HR 1.98ERA Parrish - 1.1I 0H 0R 0ER 0BB 0K 0HR 3.97ERA Alfonseca - 0.2I 0H 0R 0ER 0BB 0K 0HR 0.00ERA (Save 6) Box: R H E CIN 5 7 1 PIT 4 7

Lual
Game 4: Cincinnati Reds(17-7) @ Pittsburgh Pirates (10-14) Reds Go Down Fighting! Above: Bobby Hill reacts after taking a shot to the knee, Right: Milton is tossed for a pitch that barely clips Jason Bay! Pittsburgh wrapped up the series with a 3-1 win, after the Reds saw both Bobby Hill and Eric Milton tossed in the space of an inning. Pena's RBI had given the Reds a lead going into the 5th inning, but this is where it all went wrong. Firstly Redman beaned Hill in the knee, the Reds batter reacted against his former team-mate, sparking a bench clearing brawl, and eventually getting him tossed. Then in the bottom of the inning, Milton let a pitch get away from him, it clipped Jason Bay's toe, and the umpire tossed Milton for supposedly intentionally hitting the Pirate. All the momentum quickly shifted to the Pirates, and they instantly rattled up 3 run, including a 2 run shot by Wilson, as Belisle couldnt keep the game under control. The Reds lost their spirit, and failed to muster a decent reply, leaving them with 3 losses in these 4 games, and standing at 17-8 on the year. Reds Talk: Hill: "That was deliberate, and im not taking that sh*t. If he wants to call me out, im ready anytime" Milton: "The umpire is a disgrace, its obvious he wanted the Pirates to win that game" Reds Notables: Hitting: Griffey - 2/3 Pena - 1RBI Pitching: Milton - 4.1I 4H 1R 1ER 1BB 1K 0HR 2.53ERA Belisle - 1.2I 3H 2R 2ER 0BB 0K 1HR 2.38ERA L(1-1) Urbina - 2I 2H 0R 0ER 0BB 1K 0HR 5.23ERA Box: R H E CIN 1 7 1 PIT 3 9

Lual
Cincinnati Reds News: Bobby Hill of the Cincinnati Reds has been suspended for five games and fined an $5,000 for his inappropriate conduct, including making contact with Umpire Terry Craft, during the Cincinnati versus Pittsburgh game. Miley has been quoted as saying "We wont appeal the decision, but its not something we agree with" O'Brien (GM) stated "We've watched the tape, and spoken to Bobby about this, and there was no deliberate contact with an umpire in that brawl" Bobby Hill said "I knew that was coming, but 5 games is a bit harsh. I hold my hands up for running at Redman, but the pitch was uncalled for. And theres no way i made contact with Terry, but you cant argue or there will be a greater punishment" The Reds have declined their right to appeal against the decision. Lual
Upcoming Series - 3 Games @ Philadelphia Phillies Game 1: Cincinnati Reds (17- @ Philadelphia Phillies (15-11) Ding, Ding, Ding....! Above: Griffey gets back on track, Right: Mo's solo shot keeps him on top of the MLB Homerun chase! Longball won the day for the Reds, as they put 4 homers on the board, thanks to their 3-4-5 power-punch. The Reds had trailed 5-2 going into the 5th inning, before a 3 run shot by Griffey, was added to by solo efforts from Pena and Dunn, to put the Reds on top 7-5. Dunn then chalked up another shot as the Reds extended to a 9-6 win, with Alfonseca yet again closing the game out for his 7th save of the year. This is a big win for the Reds, as the Phillies stand on top of the NL East. Reds Talk: Parrish: "Im having some good outings at the moment, and who knows, i may get a start every now and then" Griffey: "I just got to keep playing my game. The 600 mark is still a way off, but ill keep chipping at it" Reds Notables: Hitting: Griffey - 2/5, 1HR, 3RBI Pena - 2/4, 1HR, 1RBI Dunn - 3/5, 2HR, 2RBI Freel, Casey & Lopez - 1RBI Pitching: Claussen - 4I 11H 6R 6ER 0BB 1K 0HR 5.57ERA Parrish - 3I 2H 0R 0ER 2BB 2K 0HR 3.14ERA W(1-0) Brazoban - 1I 0H 0R 0ER 1BB 0K 0HR 0.00ERA Alfonseca - 1I 0H 0R 0ER 0BB 0K 0HR 0.00ERA (Save 7) Box: R H E CIN 9 11 0 PHI 6 13

Lual
Game 2: Cincinnati Reds (18- @ Philadelphia Phillies (15-12) 15 Innings Later....! Above: Logan slides for home, as every run counts, Right: Pena's 2nd jack is the game winner! A marathon match between the Reds and Phillies, ends in the 15th inning, as Pena slammed his 2nd jack of the year to ensure a 9-8 win. The Reds put 21 hits on the board, and where thankful for some solid Bullpen help, as 7 pitchers were used in an effort to stop the Phillies offence. Cincinnati had held both a 4-0 and 7-3 lead early in the game, but some poor pitching by Julio and Belisle, let the Phillies back into the tie, and eventually forced an extra 6 innings. Pena's jack was just about enough for the Reds, as Urbina tidied things up in the 15th, to collect his 1st save of the year, whilst Parrish earned his 2nd win for his 3 innings work. On the injury front, the Reds had only Casey Kotchman go down in this match, as he has a Minor PCL Sprain ruling him out for a fortnight. Reds Talk: Miley: "Its a relief to come through that game with a win, but it has taken alot out of the team, and especially our staff" Pena: "Barry better watch out, i could be the first man to hit 80 in a season" Reds Notables: Hitting: Freel - 3/8, 3RBI Griffey - 3/8, 1RBI Pena - 4/8, 2HR, 2RBI, 1 Double Casey - 2/7, 1 Double Willingham - 4/7, 1HR, 2RBI, 1 Double Clayton - 1/1, 1RBI Pitching: Harang - 5I 2H 0R 0ER 1BB 5K 0HR 3.48ERA Julio - 1I 2H 3R 3ER 2BB 0K 1HR 13.03ERA Belisle - 1I 4H 4R 4ER 2BB 0K 0HR 5.11ERA Yan - 1I 2H 1R 1ER 0BB 1K 0HR 2.46ERA Alfonseca - 3I 0H 0R 0ER 0BB 3K 0HR 0.00ERA Parrish - 3I 1H 0R 0ER 0BB 0K 0HR 2.60ERA W(2-0) Urbina - 1I 0H 0R 0ER 0BB 0K 0HR 4.77ERA (Save 1) Box: R H E CIN 9 21 1 PHI 8 11
Lual
Cincinnati Reds - Roster News: Above: Has Julio had his day? The Reds have made a bold move by designating their newly acquired reliever Jorge Julio for assignment. Julio has had troubles both on and off the field for the Reds, and has recently been fined by the club for turning up late for a recent game. The straw that finally broke the camels back, was the fact that Julio has refused to turn up at AAA Louisville. This decision was made by Miley and his staff, after Julios ERA ballooned to over 13.00 after his dismal showing against the Phillies. This has left the Reds with no choice, but to offer Julio up. Should Julio not be taken on in 7 days, the Reds will buy out his contract (reportedly worth $2,000,000). In further news, the Reds have called up 2 players to replace the D/L Kotchman and troublesome Pitcher Julio. From AAA Louisville: RP - L.Caraciolli 1-1(W/L) 5.32ERA 17K 3B - R.Vazquez Neither player has set the Minor Leagues alight, but they will provide solid cover for the Reds. Lual
Game 3: Cincinnati Reds (19- @ Philadelphia Phillies (15-13) Walk Off! Above: Dominguez makes a sharp play, Right: Pena and the bench look on after the Phillies 'walk off' with the win! After 2 relatively high scoring slugfests, the series ended with a 1-0 13 hit ball game. Pat Burrell was the hero, as his 9th inning slam, put the Phillies over the top, to clinch the consolation win to avoid a sweep at Citizens Bank Park. The Reds offence had a bad day, but with Pena, Lopez, Encarnacion and Willingham all rested, it was no surprise that there was a little less production than usual. The 2 new guys both played a part in the game, 3B Vazquez went 2/3, whilst Caraccioli gave up the winning run, as he pitched into the 9th inning. Reds Talk: Miley: "Its a shame to lose like that. But theres no blame on Cara' at all, he did us a favor by going into the 9th, and to be honest we had no other arms left after last nights game" Caraccioli: "Of course this isnt the outing i wanted. I knew it would be tough, but i had a job to do and i did my best" Reds Notables: Hitting: Vazquez - 2/3 Pitching: Dominguez - 5I 3H 0R 0ER 1BB 5K 0HR 4.45ERA Brazoban - 2I 2H 0R 0ER 0BB 1K 0HR 0.00ERA Caraccioli - 1I 2H 1R 1ER 0BB 0K 1HR 9.00ERA L(0-1) Box: R H E CIN 0 6 0 PHI 1 7

dweaver99027
cheers mate - always good to have new readers :wtg: @punisher - im from England mate Been reading your stuff since your previous half-completed dynasty... Just posting now for teh first time... Being as it is, I'm a 25 year old Greek who has only recently discovered the game of baseball after last summer's Olympics. So I didn't post much in case of saying something incredibly stupid due to my lack of knowledge. Keep it up, I'm learning more about the game, its quirks and linguistically 'special' expressions just by reading in this thread. Great job once more. Although I would love if your next attempt at a dynasty was with the A's, since I'm a lifelong Bay Area Sports fan. Preferrably East of the Bay. :wtg:
Lual
Upcoming Series - 3 Games Home vs St. Louis Cardinals Game 1: St. Louis Cardinals (16-13) @ Cincinnati Reds (19-9) Reds Play Their Ace! Above: Dunn makes the grab at the wall, Right: Cant keep a good man down, Zambrano makes it 7 from 7! The Ace in the Reds pack, came out on top, as the Cards took a 9-4 beating in the battle of the top 2 in the NL Central. The game stayed close through 4 innings, with the scores tied at 4. Then Pena came to the show, and bang, a 3 run shot sparked a 5 run 2 inning blitz, as the Reds powered to victory. Zambrano has now inked 7 straight wins, and is well on course to have a career year for the Reds. His performances have been a huge factor in the Reds turnaround in 2006. Some bad news for the Reds is the loss of CF Nook Logan for around 35 days, as he suffered an Achilles injury when attempting to steal 2nd. Expect the Reds to announce a roster move within the next few hours. Reds Talk: Miley: "This is a big series for us, if we can take at least 2 games, then the gap between us and them will give us a nice cushion at the top of the division" O'Brien (GM): "Carlos has been a huge addition for us. Our main concern is his contract restructuring in the off-season. We are likely to have to make some salary cuts to keep Carlos on this roster" Reds Notables: Hitting: Freel - 2/5, 2RBI, 1 Triple Pena - 3/4, 1HR, 4RBI, 2 Double Dunn - 2/4, 1RBI Casey - 2/4, 1 RBI, 1 Double Willingham - 2/3, 1 Double Lopez - 1RBI Pitching: Zambrano - 9I 8H 4R 4ER 0BB 2K 0HR 2.46ERA W(7-0) Box: R H E STL 4 8 0 CIN 9 14
