Lual
Upcoming Series - 3 games Home vs Florida Marlins Game 1: Florida Marlins (23-25) @ Cincinnati Reds (31-16) Fish Food! Above: Molina slides home to tie things in the 3rd. Right: At last, Junior goes yard again! Griffey proved to be the hero for the Reds, as he finally got back into the swing of things, by jacking a 3 run shot to seal a 6-2 comeback win over the Marlins. The Fish had lead 2-0 after a rocky 1st inning from Dominguez, who would eventually pitch just 3 innings. However the Reds got back into the game, and would eventually overhaul the Marlins thanks to RBIs from Dunn, Casey and Lopez. Juniors 3 run shot came in the 7th to seal the game, leaving Brazoban to pitch through 2 innings as the Reds came away with the win. Reds Talk: Gardner: "Becoming a starter is my aim, but getting my arm in as a reliever is a good lesson for me in the majors" Griffey: "Its been a long wait, but its nice to slam one out again. Its all the more important when it wins a game too" Reds Notables: Hitting: Griffey - 2/4, 1HR, 3RBI Dunn, Casey & Lopez - 1RBI Pitching: Dominguez - 3I 5H 2R 2ER 2BB 0K 0HR 3.65ERA Gardner - 4I 2H 0R 0ER 2BB 1K 0HR 2.30ERA W(2-2) Brazoban - 2I 3H 0R 0ER 0BB 0K 0HR 0.46ERA Box: R H E FLA 2 10 0 CIN 6 6

Lual
Game 2: Florida Marlins (23-26) @ Cincinnati Reds (32-16) Walk Off Glory! Above: Encarnacion pulls off a Web Gem, Right: Pena celebrates his walkoff bomb! After Griffeys heroics in yesterdays game, it was the turn of Willy Mo' to jack the Reds to a win, as Pena's solo shot claimed the walk off win after a tough 11 innings. The Reds fought back from a 1-0 and 2-1 defecit, to tie things up in the 7th with a Dunn solo shot. Then with the game rolling through the extra innings, Willy Mo unleashed his 20th homer of the year, as the Reds carried on their good form. May is drawing to a close, and the Reds will hope to finish off the Marlins, before taking on the Nationals to keep their lead in the NL Central alive and healthy. Reds Talk: Miley: "Those wins are great for our spirit. The locker room was on fire tonight, and we can take this win forward with us" Pena: "Thats the way to win games, a walk-off lifts us as a group, and its great to hear the fans" Reds Notables: Hitting: Hill - 2/5, 1RBI Pena - 1/4, 1HR, 1RBI Dunn - 1/4, 1HR, 1RBI Pitching: Zambrano - 7I 12H 2R 2ER 1BB 2K 1HR 2.68ERA Urbina - 3I 2H 0R 0ER 0BB 2K 0HR 3.32ERA Spooneybarger - 1I 0H 0R 0ER 0BB 1K 0HR 2.16 W(1-0) Box: R H E FLA 2 14 0 CIN 3 8

Lual
Game 3: Florida Marlins (23-27) @ Cincinnati Reds (33-16) Marlins Make It Count! Above: Willy makes the diving grab, and is upset after his and the teams lack of offence! Florida came out on top in this low-hitting encounter at the GABP. The Marlins put on just 5 hits to get their 3 runs, as they avoid the series sweep by sealing the game 3-1. Milton had pitched a pretty tight game for the Reds, but a 2 run shot by Delgado in the 5th put the Marlins in control. Cincinnatis lack of offence left them staring at defeat, although Willingham did drive a run home in the 9th for some minor consolation. The Reds offensive concerns may be addressed soon with a trade, but at what cost will the Reds make this move. Next up, the Nationals come to Cincinnati as May is drawing to a tense close for the Reds. Reds Talk: O'Brien (GM): "I think everyone knows we need another bat in this lineup. The problem we have is our salary situation, we will have to shift some in a deal, and Eric (Milton) may be one of those we consider" Milton: "Tough game out there, sometimes you can do your job on the mound, but if the guys at the plate cant produce, then your just pitching to lose" Reds Notables: Hitting: Lopez - 2/4 Willingham - 2/4, 1RBI Pitching: Milton - 9I 3H 3R 3ER 1BB 3K 1HR 2.11ERA L(3-1) Box: R H E FLA 3 5 2 CIN 1 6

Lual
Upcoming Series - 3 games Home vs Washington Nationals Game 1: Washington Nationals (24-25) @ Cincinnati Reds (33-17) Capital Loss! Above: Dunn gets on base, Right: Willingham makes the play at home to preserve the Reds advantage! Cincinnati continued their run at the top of the NL Central, with a 5 hit, 5-1 win over the Nationals. The Reds made their hits count in 1 crazy inning, as they came back from a 1-0 defecit, to put on 5 runs in the 7th to seal a scrappy win at the GABP. Claussen's performance kept the Reds afloat in this game, and he was fortunate to get the burst of offence earning him his 6th win of the year. Reds Talk: Claussen: "Its good that the coaches have confidence in me. It helps me feel my pitches, and i want to repay their faith with some good outings" Encarnacion: "I have to work hard and earn my place in this team. Its been a big slump to go through, but im hoping this is a change in fortunes" Reds Notables: Hitting: Lopez, Pena, Casey, Encarnacion & Error - 1RBI Pitching: Claussen - 7I 4H 1R 1ER 0BB 3K 0HR 4.15ERA W(6-3) Urbina - 2I 1H 0R 0ER 0BB 1K 0HR 3.04ERA Box: R H E WAS 1 5 1 CIN 5 5

Lual
Game 2: Washington Nationals (24-26) @ Cincinnati Reds (34-17) Harang's Complete! Above: Mo' Mo' Mo' Mo', thats 21 in 52 for the wonderkid, Right: Harang keeps on growing, going the whole 9 innings in this win! The Reds finally put a double digit hit game on the board, as Aaron Harnag pitches a complete game in the Reds 5-3 win over the Nats'. Pena's solo shot got things going, before Encarnacion added 2 more with his deep double to right. Washington tried to come back in fits and starts, but couldnt drum up enough offence to pull level at any stage of the game. Fittingly it was Harang who blooped a single to drive in the final run of the game, as his 9IP 7H 3ER effort, stands out in the days stats. May has now come to a close for the Reds, and a 35-17 record is a awesome turnaround from a year ago. Theres alot of baseball still to play, but this Reds team is a real contender...... Reds Talk: O'Brien (GM): "Can emotions come into play when your chasing a World Series? I will live and die by my decisions at this club" Miley: "Its about time we broke out into some offence, but its still not enough. We are relying heavily on our pitching, and thats just a bit too much pressure this early in the season" Reds Notables: Hitting: Freel - 2/4, 1 Triple Pena - 2/4, 1HR, 1RBI Dunn - 2/4, 1 Double Encarnacion - 2/3, 2RBI, 1 Double Harang & Willingham - 1RBI Pitching: Harang - 9I 7H 3R 3ER 0BB 1K 1HR 3.46ERA W(5-1) Box: R H E WAS 3 7 1 CIN 5 10

krawhitham
Is this the end, beautiful friend, the end... Above: Griffeys chase for 600 could be a century too far...! With all Reds fans still buzzing from their impromptude start to the season, many have overlooked a glaring stat. Baseball 'Golden Boy' Ken Griffey Jr. has seen his numbers fall dramatically, which has put a serious risk not only to his future in the game, but to his chase for the magical 600 homeruns. Age is an obvious factor for Griffeys decline, but it was only last season that he put up 30+ homers and a 120 RBI year. Is Junior injured or just done? We know all baseball fans want to see Griffey get to a deserved 600, but with just 4 homers in 44 games this year, that figure looks a long way off. A potential 'Get-Out Clause' for Griffey, is a move back to the AL to become a full time DH. With rumours of the Yankees wishing to move Gary Sheffield, the Reds have been touted as a potential destination for the veteran Right Fielder. This would then allow the team to move Willy Mo' into Center, and give them the pop from Sheffield that they are missing with Griffey. Griffey Numbers: 2005 - .247Avg 37HR 120RBI 2006 - .258Avg 4HR 23RBI hold up and in on the joy stick damnit, JR needs 756 HRs

Lual
Game 3: Washington Nationals (24-27) @ Cincinnati Reds (35-17) Walks The Way To Do It! Above: Freel has a big day, driving in 3 runs as he goes 3/5, Right: Alfonseca celebrates picking up the win, as the Nats walk in the final run! The series is done, as the Reds earn this win with alot of patience. Washington has drawn themselves back in the tie with back to back homers in the 9th, as the Reds threw away a 8-5 lead in the final inning. But in the 10th, the Reds made their patience count, as Cordero walked 2 straight batters, as the winning run came across the plate on a bases loaded walk, bringing a new meaning to walk off win. Overall the Reds drew 13 walks to add to their 10 hits, as they held off the 18 hit Nationals to clinch a 9-8 win, to finish off the series sweep. Inter-League play now starts, as June sees the Twins come to GABP with their .500 record behind them. Reds Talk: Gardner: "I think im ready to start games now, its been good to learn from the Bullpen, but im a starter and i want to pitch as one" Miley: "Patience is key, and today it has paid off for us in a big way" Reds Notables: Hitting: Freel - 3/5, 3RBI Pena - 2/4, 3RBI, 2 Triple Casey - 2/4, 1RBI, 1 Double Encarnacion - 1/3, 1RBI, 1 Double 13 Walks & 1 Run Walked In Pitching: Dominguez - 4I 8H 4R 4ER 1BB 0K 0HR 4.10ERA Gardner - 2I 4H 1R 1ER 1BB 0K 0HR 2.55ERA Thornton - 2I 3H 2R 2ER 0BB 0K 1HR 5.68ERA Alfonseca - 2I 3H 1R 1ER 0BB 0K 1HR 0.92ERA W(1-0) Box: R H E WAS 8 18 0 CIN 9 10
Lual
Upcoming Series - 3 Games Home vs Minnesota Twins Game 1: Minnesota Twins (27-27) @ Cincinnati Reds (36-17) Zambrano Again! Above: Case' bangs in a solo shot, Right: Number 38 celebrates Number 10! Inter League play is underway in 2006, and the Reds start with a win, as Zambrano pitches a complete game to earn his 10th win, as the Reds take it 4-1 over the Twins. Zambrano held the Twins to just 4 hits (1 being a Mauer solo shot) as his numbers just keep on getting better, and his CY Young hopes even stronger. To compliment Carlos' good day on the mound, the Reds put on 4 runs from 12 hits, including a solo shot from Sean Casey who will now hope to carry on with some productive AB's. Encarnacion, Lopez and Freel also chipped in with an RBI, giving the Reds their 37th win and an ideal start to the series against Minnesota. Reds Talk: Zambrano: "Its a nice way to reach number 10, but theres still alot of hard work ahead, so getting to number 20 is the next goal" Casey: "I just dont do this often enough. Homeruns and RBIs are the bread and butter of the game, and im bordering on starvation" Reds Notables: Hitting: Lopez - 2/4, 1RBI Griffey - 2/4 Casey - 2/4, 1HR, 1RBI Molina - 2/4 Encarnacion - 2/4, 1RBI, 1 Double Freel - 1RBI Pitching: Zambrano - 9I 4H 1R 1ER 0BB 4K 1HR 2.52ERA W(10-1) Box: R H E MIN 1 4 0 CIN 4 12
Lual
Game 2: Minnesota Twins (27-28) @ Cincinnati Reds (37-17) Puppies, Hooters....Twins! Above: Defence is all the Reds could do, to prevent a Twins rout! Minnesota picked up a useful win, as the Twins slugged in 6 runs in 3 innings to force Milton off the mound in a comprehensive 6-1 win. Homers from Morneau and Jones left Milton stranded, as his 3IP went for 7H and 6ER before Miley pulled him from the mound. In reply the Reds could barely muster any offence, and whimpered to a 7 hit 1 run display, with Griffey driving in the consolation. The Bullpen would give the Reds some comfort, as Parrish, Thornton and Spooneybarger combined for 6IP giving up just 3H and 0ER, as they kept the Twins under wraps. Reds Talk: Miley: "Eric's a great pitcher and im sure he will be a Red for years to come, but you cant stop the rumours and he will just have to pitch through them" Milton: "Not my best of starts, but with all the rumours going around, sometimes its tough to keep your mind on the game" Reds Notables: Hitting: Lopez - 2/4, 1 Double Casey - 2/4, 1 Double Griffey - 1/3, 1RBI, 1 Double Pitching: Milton - 3I 7H 6R 6ER 0BB 4K 2HR 2.87ERA L(3-2) Parrish - 3I 3H 0R 0ER 1BB 1K 0HR 2.73ERA Thornton - 2I 0H 0R 0ER 1BB 1K 0HR 4.32ERA Spooneybarger - 1I 0H 0R 0ER 0BB 2K 0HR 1.93ERA Box: R H E MIN 6 10 0 CIN 1 7
