Lual
Reds 'Famers Praise 2006 Setup (Above: Bench & Morgan, 2 of the best ever Reds!) 2 famous faces spoke out for their former team, as Cincinnati Reds 'Hall of Famers' Johnny Bench and Joe Morgan, heaped praise on Dave Miley for turning this club around. Bench defended his former club by saying "Everyone outside of Cincinnati seems to have a downer on this club. Miley has managed to change the whole outlook of the Reds, and this team really has a chance of success this year. You can see alot of the characteristics in this team, as you did in the great 70s team" Morgan backed up his former colleague, stating "Its great whats happening in Cincinnati at the moment. They are playing great baseball, the pitching is solid, and their offence can click when it needs too. Miley has to take alot of credit for turning this losing ballclub into contenders again. And when it comes down to it, who dosent want to see Cincinnati in the World Series again...." These words will ring around the Reds locker-room, as the boost they need to keep things going. When 2 of the Reds best ever players are backing your run for the playoffs, then who knows where this team could end up.

Lual
Game 3: Minnesota Twins (28-28) @ Cincinnati Reds (37-18) Twins Take Rubber! Above: Claussen gets 4Ks, but is blown away in 5IP, Right: 2 straight losses for the Reds! The Twins wrap up the series with a 8-1 rout of the Reds, as the hosts struggle to generate anything of note in this game. Minnesota pretty much sealed the game within 6 innings, as they had carved out a 6-0 lead, leaving SP Claussen with his 4 loss of the year. Griffey managed to sac fly a run home for the Reds, but a 2 run dinger from Hunter put paid to any miracle hopes for their hosts. It would be unfair to pick out 1 weak point in the Reds today, and it should be noted that everyone who stepped out on that field in a Reds Uni' should take a look in the mirror and see if they really believe in this team. Minnesota take the series 2-1. Reds Talk: Miley: "We deserved that tonight, there seemed to be a lack of hunger to make big plays, and 2 sloppy errors cost us the early runs" Dunn: "Ive got to start picking things up and performing again for the team. Its no good me having a reputation as a big hitter, if i go through slumps like this" Reds Notables: Hitting: Griffey - 1RBI Pitching: Claussen - 5I 9H 4R 4ER 0BB 4K 1HR 4.39ERA L(6-4) Gardner - 2.2I 4H 2R 2ER 0BB 0K 0HR 3.10ERA Brazoban - 1.1I 2H 2R 2ER 0BB 1K 1HR 1.29ERA Box: R H E MIN 8 15 0 CIN 1 5
Lual
Upcoming Series - 3 Games Home vs Chicago White Sox Game 1: Chicago White Sox (26-30) @ Cincinnati Reds (37-19) Igu'Chi' Sox Win! Above: Casey continues his run of form with a dinger to start things off, Right: Reds cant buy a win! The Chicago White Sox added further pain to the Reds Inter League record, as they clinched a 4-2 win on the back of a Iguchi 3 run homer in the 6th inning. Harang had pitched a solid game until then, giving up just 1 run, as the Reds lead 2-1 thanks in part to a Casey solo shot in the 4th. Iguchi's dinger gave the White Sox a deserved win, as they outhit the Reds, and worked hard to prevent any further damage after falling behind early on. The Reds now sit on a 3 game losing streak, and will not fancy taking on the White Sox tomorrow night, as Garland faces up against the Reds No. 5' Dominguez. Reds Talk: Miley: "This Inter League play is hurting us, 3 straight losses at the GABP is not something we needed with the Cubs on our back" Casey: "Im working on my technique every game, if i can get near 20 homers this year, then it will be a decent acheivement" Reds Notables: Hitting: Hill - 2/4 Casey - 1/3, 1HR, 1RBI Willingham - 1RBI Pitching: Harang - 8I 11H 4R 4ER 0BB 1K 1HR 3.57ERA L(5-2) Urbina - 1I 1H 0R 0ER 0BB 1K 0HR 2.92ERA Box: R H E CWS 4 12 0 CIN 2 7
Lual
Game 2: Chicago White Sox (27-30) @ Cincinnati Reds (37-20) Reds Slump Continues! Above: Encarnacion works hard on his defence, Right: Dunn shows some of his magic at the plate! 4 defeats on the bounce for the Reds, as the White Sox came from behind again to snatch a 4-3 win, as Thornton gives up a 2 run shot to Thomas in the 7th inning. Cincinnati had lead thanks to a pair of dingers from Dunn and Casey to go 3-0 up. Dominguez then gave up a 2 run shot to Dye, before being pulled after 3IP. Reds Lefty Matt Thornton couldnt stop the White Sox charge in the 7th, as he allowed Uribe to get on base, before Thomas came up to hurt the Reds with a 400foot bomb. There was no response from the Reds, who failed to gain any hits in their final 9ABs, leaving them with a 6 hit, 4-3 loss, to slump to their 4th straight defeat in June. Reds Talk: Miley: "We need something to spicen up our offence. Griffeys drop in numbers is having an effect now, as Willy and Dunn are in mini slumps" O'Brien (GM): "I will confirm that we are in trade talks with another team, but im not in the position to reveal any names involved at this stage" Reds Notables: Hitting: Dunn - 2/3, 1HR, 2RBI Casey - 2/4, 1HR, 1RBI Pitching: Dominguez - 3I 2H 2R 2ER 1BB 0K 1HR 4.21ERA Parrish - 2I 4H 0R 0ER 0BB 0K 0HR 2.57ERA Thornton - 2I 1H 2R 2ER 1BB 0K 1HR 5.23ERA L(0-2) Spooneybarger - 2I 3H 0R 0ER 0BB 0K 0HR 1.59ERA Box: R H E CWS 4 10 0 CIN 3 6
Lual
Game 3: Chicago White Sox (28-30) @ Cincinnati Reds (37-21) CZ wins Duel! Above: Zambrano works hard for his 11th win of the year, Right: Casey keeps producing against the White Sox! Finally the Reds snap their losing streak, just as the Cubs claw to within 1.5 games at the top of the NL Central. This time, their poor offence was countered by some solid pitching, as Zambrano with the help of the Bullpen, shut out the White Sox and held them to just 5 hits all game. Sean Casey continued his run against the White Sox by homering for the 3rd straight game, as the Reds squeezed out a 2-0 win on the back of just 4 hits. Some surprise news coming out of the Reds camp, is that Claussen has been named to start the upcoming series against the Indians. Milton was due to start, leaving many wondering whether he is involved in the proposed trade talks surronding the organisation. Reds Talk: Milton: "I will confirm im not starting against Cleveland, i felt a slight twinge in practice, so they are giving me some time off to heal" Casey: "Can we play the White Sox 162 times a year?" Lual
Reds Want Huff! (Above: Aubrey Huff could be converted back to Third if he joins the Reds) With various rumours circling around the press, the Reds have finally confirmed they are in talks with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays to try and prize away Aubrey Huff from the sunshine state. It is known that Tampa need to shift Huff's salary from their payroll, with their perenial struggles continuing through 2006. The Reds on the other hand are desperate for a bat, and are in the position to offer up some good pitching, and to take on a bit of salary that Huff would bring. Huffs Numbers: 2005 - .317Avg 36HR 131RBI 2006 - .302Avg 13HR 32RBI To tempt the Devil Rays into a trade, it is rumoured that the Reds have put 4 players on the table, with the DRays likely to take on 3 of those. What is still in doubt, is the future of Eric Milton. He has been mysteriously left out of the Reds lineup for the Indians series, and could still be involved in trade talks as the Reds need to get serious about their playoff race. Above: Molina goes yard for the 1st time this year, Right: Willy gets 2 in 1 game! With the trade negotiations stalling, the Reds turned their attention back on the field, as a trip to face Ohio Rivals the Cleveland Indians would be another chance to earn state pride. It was the Reds who finally managed to put some offence together who came away with the bragging rights from tonights game. Pena hit 2 bombs and Molina a 3 run shot, as the Reds put up 13 hits to win 7-1, leaving Indians Starter CC Sabathia stunned. Milton as expected did not start for the Reds, leaving Claussen to pick up the start, and he impressed with his 7/2IP 6H 1ER 3K effort. Leaving the press to still stir the rumours surronding Milton's future as a Red. Reds Talk: Miley: "Its nice to be taken seriously in Ohio again. Lual
Game 2: Cincinnati Reds (39-21) @ Cleveland Indians (29-31) Tribe See Red! Above: Dunn pops his cork, as he starts to come out of his slump, Right: Casey makes an error saving grab at 1st! Back to Back wins for the Reds, as they brush aside the struggling Tribe, with a 6-2 win at Jacobs Field. Aaron Harang was the centerpiece of the Reds win, going for a 5H 2ER 4K complete game, leaving the Reds in prime position to take advantage with some offence. And for the 2nd night running, the Reds did just that. 12 hits, 6 runs and a 2 run shot by Dunn made sure that this series would be going back to Cincinnati. Bobby Hill hit 3 sac flys to drive in 3 runs, as he had a productive day in the DH role. Edwin Encarnacion also impressed amid rumours he may be traded in the Huff deal, leaving many still questioning the Reds desperation to bring in a new 3B. Reds Talk: Miley: "We are really pleased with Aaron's performances. He is really developing into a proven starter in the Majors, and will be part of this organisation for a long time to come" Harang: "Im part of a great team, its easy to pitch when you know these guys are backing you up'" Reds Notables: Hitting: Freel - 2/5, 1 Double Hill - 1/4, 3RBI Dunn - 1/4, 1HR, 2RBI Casey - 3/4, 1 Double Griffey - 2/4, 1 Double Encarnacion - 2/4, 1RBI Pitching: Harang - 9I 5H 2R 2ER 0BB 4K 1HR 3.40ERA W(6-2) Box: R H E CIN 6 12 0 CLE 2 5

Above: Encarnacion starting to perform again, Right: Willingham hits a 3 run bomb! The Reds completed their sweep of Cleveland after almost blowing a 7-0 lead. Pena and Willingham both hit bombs as the Reds surged out to a 7 zip lead within 4 innings. Then with 2 outs in the 6th, the Indians put on their charge, starting with a Hafner RBI, then a Grady Sizemore Grand Slam. The score then went 8-5 Reds, before the Indians drove in 2 more runs, each time when they had 2 outs in the inning. Dominguez claimed the win to go 5-2 and Alfonseca his 16th save of the year. Final Score Cincinnati 8 Cleveland 7. Reds Talk: Miley: "We got away with that one in the end. Lual
Upcoming Series - 3 Games @ San Francisco Giants Game 1: Cincinnati Reds (41-21) @ San Francisco Giants (27-34) Griffey Inspires Reds! Above: Junior back on track, with a 2 run bomb, Right: Griffey Blooper Reel! The Reds come away from their opening game in San Francisco with a confident 6-3 win, thanks in part to Griffey's 2 run bomb in the 4th inning. Zambrano had looked flustered on the mound, as he gave up 3 runs and 2 homers to the Giants powering offence, before Griffeys bomb sparked the comeback. Tomko eventually walked in 2 Reds runs, as the Giants lost their grip on the game, falling to their 35th defeat of the year. The win gives Zambrano his 12th of the year, whilst Urbina chalked up 2 hitless innings to gain the save. Reds Talk: Miley: "I dont think i can put into words what Carlos has done to this team since he arrived" Casey: "Everyones rooting for Junior to get to 600.
