Lual
Game 2: Cincinnati Reds (42-21) @ San Francisco Giants (27-35) Milton Collapses! Above: BOOM, Dunn sets the Reds going, Right: Milton had looked good thru 7, 8 on the other hand....! Extra Innings agony for the Reds, as they let slip a 3-0 lead, to blow up and lose 4-3 against the Giants. Milton had pitched a 1 hit game thru 7 innings and held a 3-0 lead going into the 8th. Alas he gave up 4 hits and a walk, as the Giants tied it 3-3 forcing the game into extra innings. The Reds couldnt pick themselves up after the collapse, and slumped to a Bonds walk off homer in the 10th, as Brazoban left a nugget over the plate. This result has left the Reds just 0.5 games ahead of the rampaging Cubs, who are on a 7 game winning streak. Reds Talk: Milton: "I think everyone was making up trades with no substance. I just want to pitch, and pitch for the Reds, i have 2 more years here and i want to win with this ballclub" Brazoban: "Those things happen, its not nice to be pitching when it does, but im big enough to take that on the chin and pitch on when the Skip needs me" Reds Notables: Hitting: Hill - 2/5, 1 Double Molina - 3/4 Milton - 2/3 Dunn - 1/4, 1HR, 1RBI Griffey & Lopez - 1RBI Pitching: Milton - 8I 5H 3R 3ER 1BB 2K 0HR 2.93ERA Brazoban - 1.2I 2H 1R 1ER 0BB 0K 0HR 1.82ERA L(1-1) Box: R H E CIN 3 10 0 SF 4 7
Lual
Game 3: Cincinnati Reds (42-22) @ San Francisco Giants (28-35) Unlucky 13th! Above: Lopez drives a single down the line, infront of a packed SBC Park, Right: Willingham makes a over the barrier grab! Deja'Vous for the Reds, as they slip to their second straight 4-3 loss in extra innings, after leading through normal innings. This time it was Casey who blasted the Reds into a lead, with a 2 run shot in the 3rd inning. However, Claussen soon started to show tiredness on the mound and eventually left the game after 6IP 8H 3ER, with the Reds tied at 3. Extra innings came, and quickly went for the Reds, as their offence fired blanks through 4 more. The Giants saw their chance, and took advantage of a lead off walk by Gardner in the 13th, to drive in the winning run, with a long double by Moises Alou. The NL Central race is as tight as ever, with the Reds hanging on to their 0.5 game lead, as the All-Star break looms. Reds Talk: Miley: "Two losses that could have gone our way. Sometimes those things happen during the season, and im sure it will even out for us as the year goes on" Freel: "Im never going to be a power hitter, but i give this team a baserunner from the get go" Reds Notables: Hitting: Freel - 4/5, 1RBI, 1 Triple Lopez - 2/4 Dunn - 2/4, 1 Triple Casey - 1/5, 1HR, 2RBI Pitching: Claussen - 6I 8H 3R 3ER 0BB 2K 1HR 4.08ERA Thornton - 2I 2H 0R 0ER 0BB 0K 0HR 4.38ERA Spooneybarger - 3I 3H 0R 0ER 0BB 1K 0HR 1.26ERA Gardner - 1.2I 1H 1R 1ER 0BB 0K 1HR 4.70ERA L(2-3) Box: R H E CIN 3 11 0 SF 4 14

Lual
Upcoming Series - 3 Games @ San Diego Padres Game 1: Cincinnati Reds (42-23) @ San Diego Padres (33-31) Cinci Roll On! Above: Griffey goes 3/4 with a clutch RBI, Right: Harang is in seventh heaven! The Padres continue their slump from World Champions to World Chumpions, with another loss sending them closer to .500, as the Reds roll to a 6-4 win. San Diego should have taken advantage of their 14 hit display, but they failed on numerous occasions to drive in a clutch run, leaving Griffey to tie it in the 5th, then Casey to win it with a 2 run bomb in the 6th. Harang earned his 7th win of the year, and with a slice of help from Urbina and Alfonseca (Sv 17), the Reds held out to start the series off on the right note. Reds Talk: Harang: "Ive learn't so much from Carlos, and to be honest, i think our whole staff has improved since he came here" O'Brien (GM): "We are starting to become an effective team, and the whole of baseball is really taking notice. Im hoping all this interest will generate some more money, to improve us even further in 2007" Reds Notables: Hitting: Freel - 2/3 Griffey - 3/4, 1RBI Casey - 2/5, 1HR, 2RBI Willingham, Pena & Dunn - 1RBI Pitching: Harang - 6I 11H 4R 4ER 2BB 6K 1HR 3.57ERA W(7-2) Urbina - 2I 2H 0R 0ER 1BB 1K 0HR 2.40ERA Alfonseca - 1I 1H 0R 0ER 0BB 0K 0HR 1.19ERA (Save 17) Box: R H E CIN 6 9 0 SD 4 14
Lual
Game 2: Cincinnati Reds (43-23) @ San Diego Padres (33-32) Padres Show Class! Above: Casey reaches double digit homerun total, Right: Dunn still not his 2005 self! The Reds fell to a 7-1 rout in San Diego, as the Padres looked their old selves with Peavy taking the win on the mound. Cincinnati failed to pressurize the Padres pitcher, and only had a Casey bomb to show for their efforts on the bases. On the other hand, San Diego made the most of their 10 hits, as the racked up 7 runs, including a 3 run dinger from Nevin. Dominguez fell short of the required standard on the mound for the Reds, as he gave up 6 hits for 5 runs, whilst Thornton allowed 2 more from his 4 hit 2IP. The series heads into a deciding Rubber match, with the Reds still needing the wins to fend off the hungry Cubs in 2nd place. Reds Talk: Miley: "Juan is a good pitcher, but he just has some outings where he lacks the concentration you need. If we can get him to become more consistent, it will give our rotation a huge upgrade" Casey: "Its an improvement over 2005, but theres still alot of work to do, and more importantly, alot more wins for this team to make the playoffs" Reds Notables: Hitting: Griffey - 3/4, 1 Triple Casey - 2/3, 1HR, 1RBI, 1 Double Pitching: Dominguez - 6I 6H 5R 5ER 1BB 2K 1HR 4.31ERA L(5-3) Thornton - 2I 4H 2R 2ER 2BB 3K 0HR 5.02ERA Box: R H E CIN 1 8 1 SD 7 10

Lual
Game 3: Cincinnati Reds (43-24) @ San Diego Padres (34-32) Zambrano Chokes! Above: Dunn slams his 16th of the year, Right: Miley looks on as Zambrano dishes up 3 dingers in the 9th! A crazy game where the Padres took advantage of a tiring Zambrano to drive in 4 runs in the 9th, to over-turn a 3-0 defecit. The Reds had the game in the bag, with Dunn's solo bomb in the 7th looking to be the icing on the cake. However with Zambrano tiring, he failed to finish off the Padres in the 9th, by giving up 4 hits and 3 back to back homers (Giles, Infante & Guzman) to allow the Padres to snatch the walk off win. This loss will hit the Reds hard, and shows their still capable of losing in tight situations. On the All-Star front, 2 Reds remain in voting contention with 2B Ryan Freel currently 4th in Voting, and RF Willy Mo Pena 3rd in the OF Voting list. Reds Talk: Miley: "Unexpected, i think that sums up what happened out there. Carlos just had one of those innings, who would of guessed that he'd give up 3 back to back homers to lose the game?" Zambrano: "Its happened, i will move on and continue to pitch for this team, at the standards i have been setting" Reds Notables: Hitting: Dunn - 2/4, 1HR, 1RBI Pena & Freel - 1RBI Pitching: Zambrano - 9I 10H 4R 4ER 0BB 5K 3HR 2.56ERA L(12-2) Box: R H E CIN 3 8 0 SD 4 10
Lual
Trade Rumour: With the Reds still on the lookout for another bat, a new rumour has surfaced involving 8 players and 3 teams. Alongside Cincinnati, are Seattle and Minnesota in this mega deal, as all 3 look to shakeup their lineups with the All-Star break looming. Heres a breakdown of who could get what: Cincinnati Reds: 3B - Adrian Beltre (from Seattle) RP - Jesse Crain (from Minnesota) Seattle Mariners: SP - Eric Milton (from Cincinnati) SP - Jered Weaver (from Cincinnati AAA) RP - Kyle Farnsworth (from Minnesota) 1B - Casey Kotchman (from Cincinnati) Minnesota Twins: RP - Ugueth Urbina (from Cincinnati) RP - Ron Villone (from Seattle) Notes: Cincinnati will eat 50% of Eric Miltons 2006 salary. This deal is expected to go down this weekend, with the Reds Front Office excited about their potential acquisitions. O'Brien (GM) "We have been looking into alot of avenues to bring in a new face or two, but have constantly hit a barrier. However, this deal seems to be a go-er, and i know Seattle and Minnesota are happy with their potential additions, just as we are"
rolliefingers08
I think you're giving up a bit too much, but that depends on how much better Crain is in 2006 than 2005.
Lual
Upcoming Series - 3 Games Home vs Colorado Rockies Game 1: Colorado Rockies (-) @ Cincinnati Reds (43-25) Rockies Burn Milton! Above: Lopez' homer is not enough, Right: Pena makes a diving grab, but the Reds go down wanting! The Rockies chased Eric Milton out of GABP, with a 6 run 2nd innings to ensure their 6-4 win over the Reds. Milton lasted just 2.2IP giving up 10H and 2HR, as Colorado took the game by the scruff of the neck, early doors. The Reds tried to mount a comeback, and did manage to put 4 runs on the board, including homers from Dunn and Lopez, but it was too little and the Rockies held out for a tough win in Cincinnati. Reds Talk: Miley: "We are in a mini slump and those things happen. We just need some hard work to turn things back around" Milton: "Im unsettled, and its not helping me out there on the mound. Either this organisation wants me, or it dosent. Ive had enough of being left in limbo until they decide who to trade me for" Reds Notables: Hitting: Lopez - 2/4, 1HR, 1RBI Dunn - 1/3, 1HR, 2RBI Encarnacion - 2/4, 1 Double Logan - 2/2, 1RBI, 1 Double Pitching: Milton - 2.2I 10H 6R 6ER 1BB 2K 2HR 3.56ERA L(3-3) Parrish - 5.1I 4H 0R 0ER 2BB 1K 0HR 2.23ERA Urbina - 1I 0H 0R 0ER 0BB 1K 0HR 2.32ERA Box: R H E COL 6 14 0 CIN 4 9

Lual
Game 2: Colorado Rockies (-) @ Cincinnati Reds (43-26) Homerun Derby! Above: Willy Mo moves to 25 homers on the year, Right: Dunn hits 2 solo bombs, but its not enough! Colorado ensured they would take the series from Cincinnati after a hit fest which saw 35 hits and 20 runs in 10 innings of play. The Reds had blasted ahead, with Pena, Griffey and Dunn all jacking in the 1st inning, as it seemed to be too easy for the hosts. Unfortunately for the Reds their pitching staff fell into a hole, and failed to dig themselves out. All 4 pitchers gave up hits and runs, as the Rockies piled on the pressure with this win. Spooneybarger was the unfortunate picther to lose the game, as he gave up 3 runs in the 10th to seal the Reds fate in extras. Reds Talk: Miley: "Its a tough series for us, we need to get back on track as soon as possible" Dunn: "Everyone felt that we could score runs at every at bat, unfortunately it appears the Rockies felt that way too" Reds Notables: Hitting: Lopez - 2/5, 1RBI, 1 Double Griffey - 1/5, 1HR, 2RBI Pena - 1/5, 1HR, 1RBI Dunn - 3/5, 2HR, 2RBI Casey - 1/5, 1HR, 1RBI Encarnacion & Thornton - 1RBI Pitching: Claussen - 5I 9H 3R 3ER 1BB 3K 3HR 4.16ERA Gardner - 1I 5H 4R 4ER 0BB 1K 0HR 6.00ERA Thornton - 3I 3H 1R 1ER 0BB 1K 0HR 4.67ERA Spooneybarger - 1I 4H 3R 3ER 0BB 0K 2HR 2.94ERA L(1-1) Box: R H E COL 11 21 0 CIN 9 14
Lual
Game 3: Colorado Rockies (-) @ Cincinnati Reds (43-27) Reds Back In Business! Above: Griffey moves to 8 homers on the year as he finds his form, Right: Harang goes to 8-2 in a career year for the young starter! After a losing streak, the Reds finally get back on track as they drive out a 6-2 win, on the back of 4 more bombs to end the series. Casey, Pena, Dunn and Griffey all went 'Jimmy Jack' as the Reds found their winning feet again. This offensive power was backed up by a solid 9IP by Aaron Harang, who gave up just 2 runs (both solo shots) as he moved to 8-2 on the year. The Reds will now hope to find a more consistent line of results, to move themselves away from the 1.5GB Cubs and 3GB Cardinals, as the NL Central is heating up. Reds Talk: O'Brien (GM): "We are still looking at avenues in which to bring in some players. Beltre is still an option, but with 3 teams involved its hard to make sure everyone is happy with what deal they get" Harang: "Im happy with that display today, any time you get a win from a complete game you have to take some credit" Reds Notables: Hitting: Freel - 2/5 Griffey - 1/4, 1HR, 2RBI Pena - 1/4, 1HR, 1RBI Dunn - 3/4, 1HR, 3RBI Casey - 2/4, 1HR, 2RBI Pitching: Harang - 9I 8H 2R 2ER 0BB 3K 2HR 3.43ERA W(8-2) Box: R H E COL 2 8 1 CIN 6 13
