Actually it's year 1, but Part II of the original owner mode.I was forced to shut it down after the conclusion of the first year because my game would always crash after the FA signings.I later found out it was becaus of the bad rosters I was using.

I dont know.It depends on what kind of production I get out of Kazmir and the catcher position.I'll give it at least a month.

I would of liked to have had around the same exact roster as what I had at the end of the first year, but oh well.

Opening Day

When we last saw the Devil Rays they had lost game 7 of the ALCS to the Boston Red Sox.1 game away from the world series has made this team hungry for another chance to make it to the big show.

The christening of the second year at The Olypmic Stadium started off on a sour note as the Devil Rays faced the Blue Jays. The game looked to be a pitchers dual as both starters had strong games. After 9 innings neither team had scored a run as the game went into extras. But a bad outing in relief by Doug Weachter and the Devil Rays were down 0-3.But Tampa Bay came back, loading the bases with 1 out and Carl Crawford coming up.Carl hit a fastball way out to left field in what intially looked to be a walkoff grand slam, but it was caught at the wall for just a measly sac fly and the second out. With the score now 1-3 Baldelli came up in hopes of at least tying it,but it was not to be as he grounded out to second to end the first game of the year.

Notables:

Hendrickson:8.0 IP/4 hits/0 er/6 k

Waechter:1.0/4 hits/3 er/1 HR

Koskie:1-5 HR 2 RBI

Also once the savereader is able to fully read owner modes, I will be creating a website that will be updated every week. Minor updates and what not will still be typed out here though.

quick update:

I'm 3-2 after 5 games and like I figured it's alot funner playing with the D-Rays again.

Some bad news though, Rocco Baldelli suffered a sligh MCL strain while stretching out a triple. He is out 9 days and Gathright will be play CF until he returns.

Also in a 15 inning game against Oakland I brung in Jesus Colome to pitch in the 15th.Last year he was my worst reliever and had a bad homerun problem.Well in the second pitche he threw he gave up what turned out to be the game winning homer.Well I wont put up with him this year so I sent him down.

In his place I brung up my CAP who is a 3B.Last year he hit .307 with 13 homers and 48 rbis for the Bulls.

And with Finals getting over tommorow I should be updating this alot more frequently.

Well with Gathright in the 14 ABs he's had since taking over CF has only 1 hit for a .067 clip.So because of that I'm rearranging the lineup. I moved Sanchez up to the 2nd hole and moved Gathright down to the 9 hole, while everybody else moved up a spot.I'm gonna go with this lineup until Baldelli returns in 4 days.

Also my CAP got his first career hit in his first AB on April 12th.A pinch hit RBI single up the middle in 8th.

This team so far has played pretty good considering the injures to the Red hot Baldelli and to Travis Lee.The injury by Lee was suffered on the very last play of the last game I played, he strained his ACL diving for a ball. 8O Gossler and Phelps will platoon 1B until he returns.

Gathright now has just 2 hits in 21 ABs.Baldelli will be back in 2 days meaning Gathright will get at least 8 ABs.If he doesnt get at least 3 hits in those 8 Abs he;s getting sent down. His speed is very valuable but it isnt worth anything if he doesnt get on base.

Toby Hall has been very very suprising so far. I definitly did not expect him to hit this well. And Cantu has been impressive as well, that compact swing suits him well.

Couple of Roster moves were made after Lee was put on the 15 day DL.B.J Upton was called up from AAA Durham, but will be maily used as a pinch runner. And to fill Upton's spot in Durham Bret Butler was called up to play SS until Upton is sent back down.

First game of the season against the Yankees was a memorable one for sure.

Dewon Brazelton pitched well enough for his third straight win (8 IP, 2 run, 4 k, CG) but Mike Mussina pitched better, much better.

In fact he pitched so good, that he threw his first career No hitter.(at least I think it was)

Mussina's line:9.0 IP, 0 hits, 0 runs, 6 k's, 0 BB's.

The only thing that kept if from being a perfect game was a Derek Jeter error that allowed Huff to reach first base.

Just curious, but why on earth would you have Sanchez in right? I'm sure both Baldelli and Crawford have better arms and would be much better defensively. I would probably play Sanchez in left or center, with Crawford in the other of the two and Baldelli in right.

But that's just me.

I don't know, I hadn't really thought about it.I'll take alook at the arm ratings when I get back home and will prolly switch them around.

Quick update:

Nick Green was given the start at 2B in the second game against the Yankees, giving Cantu a day off.But it didn't last long. After grounding out in his first AB of the season, Green strained his hip flexor on a diving play that robbed A-Rod of a base hit.So Cantu came back into the game and went 2-3 with a double and 2 rbi's.This kid is good, really good so far.The Devil Rays lost though after Beaz gave up a walkoff three run home run to Derek Jeter. It was his first blown save of the year, and the Yankees swept the 2 game series.

Green was put on the 15 day DL joining Lee who still has a week left.

A move to replace Green's spot on the roster will be forthcoming.

Edit:

Called up Chris Signelton from AAA Durham to take Green's spot.

And per the suggestion I moved my outfielders around.

CF:Crawford

LF:Sanchez

Ever since being swept by the Yankees the Devil Rays have been on fire!

They have won 5 in a row, including a 3 game sweep of the Red Sox. Since the humilating defeat to the Yankees the D-Rays have outscored their opponents 21-6 in the last 5 games and are now 11-3 at home. And have possesion of first place for the first time(albeit by a half game)

And in the last game against the Red Sox, a packed house was on hand as Tampa Bay sold out it's first game of the season. The Devil Rays have saw attendance steadily rise over the past few weeks and now sit at 13309 on average.

And also tommorow I shall begin construction of a web page for this dynasty.Stay tuned.

Well scrap the web page for now. I worked on it for a while, but couldnt figure out how to get it to work. For now its just easier to post stuff here. If anybody could post a step by step guide on how to do it, that would be great, if not then I'll just post stuff here.

This team has just been absolutely unstoppable since losing to the Yankees. The winning streak now stands at a franchise high 11 games.Because if the streak the Devil Rays had a 18-6 April which was the best month they have ever had(although last April they went 17-7). They have won games in almost every way from blowouts to come from behinders, to extra inning walkoffs.During the streak they have outscored their opponents 63-24.

Nick Green who got just one at bat before being injured will be sent back down to AAA Durham after he gets off the DL in three days. Also after Travis Lee came back, Darren Gossler(who at the time was hitting .288) was inserted as the everday third baseman.Alex Gonzalez may be sent down to try to work some kinks out, but we'll see.

The last time the Devil Rays lost was to the Yankees by a score of 7-6.

Since then they won 11 in a row.

And the Yankees came into town and won again 9-8 ending the streak.

Made just over 1 M by the time the last home stand was over so I bought the Level 2 Ads and Banners.

Will post an update as soon as the road trip is over.

Also contenplating moving Cantu to third and Gossler to 2nd.A left handed third basemen just isn't working.

edit:

Also Upton will be moved down the 9 hole and everybody behind him will be moved up a spot.

I've had trouble scoring runs in my last 12 games (6-6 in that span) so I moved the lineup around. In the first game with the new lineup I beat the Tigers 11-6.Hopefully its a sign of things to come.

Despite having the best record in the AL I am far behind the Padres who are an amazing 33-8 and are on a 10 game winning streak.

All Star Voting has begun and so far 3 players represent the Devil Rays.Aubrey Huff is 2nd in OF voting(for RF, but if he goes I will probably have him play DH or 1B)Baldelli is 3rd in OF and Sanches in 4th in OF.It would be awsome if all three went.Although Manny is having another all star year.

I accomplished something today against the Marlins that I had not accomplished in the past 235 games that I have played.

I picked someone off!!!! :wtg:

I have been picked off about a dozen different times and I have not once caught someone napping.

Well today with Brazelton on the mound and Juan Pierre at first I got him.I fired to first just to get him back and he didn't start to move till it was too late.It took me 236 games but I finally got a guy.

Oh and the Padres 10 game streak is over. They are now 33-9 and tie the Red Sox and the Devil Rays with the longest win streaks of the season.

Lost Julio Lugo for 22 days after he fractured his foot sliding into home against Oakland. :hmph: Which sucks because he was one of my better hitters and had good speed.

So B.J Upton will fill at in SS.Although his speed is about the same as Lugo's he cant hit near as well as him (he's currently hitting .193).

Nick Green will once again be called up from AA to take Lugo's spot on the roster and will sit on the bench.Hopefully this time he will last longer than one AB before injuring himself. :wall:

Also Aubrey Huff hit the Devil Rays first walkoff homer of the year (his 8th on the season) in that same game. With one out the A's brought in Dotel to relieve Houston Street and the first pitch was a fastball dead center, which Huff was sitting on and he slammed it over the left-centerfield wall to give the D-Rays a 5-4 win.
