The Devil Rays just keep winning and are on a season high 11 game winning streak.Awsome pitching followed by hot streaks from Hall,Baldelli, and Huff and you got an unstoppable team.

The Devil Rays are also 11-1 against the NL and have identical 24-9 records on the road and at home. But they come up against a strong Cardinals team in their next series.

With Julio Lugo returning yesterday during the off day and Cantu returning in 2 days this Devil Rays team will only get stronger.Gonzalez, who will fill in at 3B till Cantu returns may be traded soon to strengthen the bench.

Julio Lugo returned in a big way going 3-4 with 2 doubles, a SB, and a RBI as the Devil Rays came from behind to beat the cards 6-5 to win their major league and franchise best 12th straight game. Larry Walker also had a hell of a day going 4-4 with 3 homers although they were each solo shots.Kazmir continues to struggle giving up 4 runs in 4.2 innings.

Also to reward Toby Hall for his recent hot streak, him and Carl Crawford have switched spots in the lineup, moving Hall up to the 8th spot.

The Devil Rays streak finally comes to an end at 12 in a row as they lose to the Cardinals 7-3.Brazelton pitched well, giving up 2 runs in 6 IP with 4 k's but the bullpen couldnt hold it as they gave up 5 runs in the 7th and 8th innings.Devil Rays got one more back in the 9th but it wasnt enough.

Also Cantu is back from his injury and retakes his spot at 3B and #2 in the order.I'm going to look into trading Gonzalez as he is hitting .186 with 1 homer and 9 rbi in 118 AB. All this while making 1.5M. I'm going to try to get either someone to strengthen the bench of some prospects.

I may also look into trading Charles Johnson who only has 5 hits in 33 AB(.152, hes the backup catcher) for prospects. He's only making 100k.Tim Laker, hitting .328 in AAA will be called up to be the backup catcher.

Hendrickson lost his first game of the year 3-2 against the Cardinals.I'm glad the Devil Rays wont have to face the Cards any more this season, especially the 2-3-4 hitters.Walker-Puljous-Edmonds had 8 homers.Larry Walker was 7-12 with 4 HR with 6 RBI.

Also made a roster move.Optioned Charles Johnson to AAA Durham and promoted Tim Laker to be the backup catcher.

The D-Rays sold out their first game of the year.It was the first game in a three game series againt their interstate rivals, The Florida Marlins.A packed house of 20000 came to see the D-Rays win 6-5 in 12 innings as Joey Gathright hit his first homer of the year.

Aubrey Huff is in a really serious slump. He is 4 for his last 40 with 1 homer and just 3 RBI's.His average has dropped down to .304 after being in the top 5 all year long.

Hi, I'm an italian baseball fan and I've just finished to register my account.

There aren't many people who loves baseball in italy, the NBA has much more success.

I write about MLB on an italian web site and I'm a Devil Rays supporter.

I've won the WS in MVP 2004 with the Rays in my first year at the MVP level thanks to Tim Wakefield's knuckleballs and Nomar Garciaparra's homers, now I'm going to challenge with the 2005 version, but I guess it will be harder than last year: the game seems to be more difficult!

Congratulations for the site, it's really perfect! :wtg:

Sorry for my english, I hope I was quite understandable...

For the third straight month, the Devil Rays won 18 games despite a league high 12 game winning streak.

Aubrey Huff has only had 1 homer and 4 RBI since June 17th and his average dropped to .302.But the last couple of games he's been hitting well, his average up to .311. Darren Gossler has really turned it on the last couple of weeks raising his average from .270 to .301.

Back to back series losses to the Marlins and Blue Jays have been the result of pitching.Hendrickson had a bump in the road but is still on his Cy Young course. The rest of the pitching has been struggling though.

With 2 weeks till the All Star game heres an update on the voting.Alex Sanchez is 2nd in the voting for OF and Rocco Baldelli is 3rd.Huff has slipped to 5th because Ichiro has been on fire, raising his average to .352.

Bad news befell the Devil Rays today.Alex Sanchez tore his shoulder muscle while stealing second and will be out of about 6 weeks (49 days) and will be placed on the 15 day DL.Joey Gathright will take his place in left field and Jonny Gomes will be called up from AAA Durham to take his place on the roster.

The Red Sox are making a surge and have gone 8-2 in their last 10 while the D-Rays have gone 4-6 in the same stretch. The Devil Rays currently hold a slim 1 game lead over Boston.

The Devil Rays suffered their first sweep of the year at the hands of the Twins. They are now 7-9 against the Central.

Because of that, they are also out of first place for the first time since the end of April. The Red Sox beat the Blue Jays 4-2 to take the lead in the division, at least % wise. The Red Sox have a .662 winning % while the D-Rays have a .659 winning %.

The month of July has been brutal to the Devil Rays.First they lost Alex Sanchez for 6 weeks, then they fall out of first place and now they have lost Rocco Baldelli for 10 days. :wall:

Baldelli was injured with an inflamed right elbow after breaking up a double play and so that the go ahead run could score against the White Sox.

The good news is that they beat the White Sox 4-2, breaking a 4 game losing streak. The bad news is that the Red Sox also won, so the Devil Rays are still 1 game back.

So Baldelli will be missing the All Star Game along with Sanchez. And with Huff's slump coupled with Ichiro's and Guerrero's surge, Huff has been knocked out of the top 5.So it seems the Devil Rays won't have any position players in the All Star Game.

Jonny Gomes will take over in right field for the time being.

This month gets worse and worse with every game.

In the first game against the Tigers Casey Fossum pitching 7.1 innings of shutout ball with Harper getting the final out in the 8th.

Baez comes in to get the save with the D-Rays leading 3-0.

His inning goes like this:

double

strike out

two run homer

fly out

solo homer

strike out.

For his 3rd blown save of the year.Waechter then proceeds to give up a two run bomb in the 10th and Perciaval closes it out. :wall: All this in front of the 4th sellout crowd of the year.

The D-Rays are now 1-6 in July, have lost 4 series in a row and 3 games back of the Red Sox who have won 6 games in a row. :wall:

Weachters era after the game went up to 6.16 so I had enough. I sent him down to AAA and relucently brought up Jesus Colome. I didn't want to bring him up but he forced my hand with his numbers in long relief (6-1, 1.95 era, 39 k's in 41 IP)

And at the reccomendations of my coaches, I have promoted Delmon Young to AAA.

The fifth sell out crowd of the year saw me get my second win of the month with a 5-2 victory over Detroit.Unfortunatly the Red Sox won their 7th straight game so I did not gain any ground on them.

The first half ended on a sour note for the Devil Rays. There are easily having their worst month of the year being 3-7 in July.

Colome so far isn't making me happy, since peing called up he has pitched 2.1 innings and given up 2 homers and struck out 1.

Aubrey Huff ended up being voted onto the all star team as a backup. Also Hendrickson and Baez made it.

Home Run Derby

Same rules as last year.I took the top 8 home run hitters from each league. I put them against each other (CPU vs CPU) and they go at it in the home run showdown with 10000 feet. Now instead of farthest the winner is who hits the most homeruns. In the event of a tie the winner is the one who hit the farthest home run

Here is how it is played.

Round 1- All particiapants go and the top 4 from each league will advance-10000 ft

Round 2-All Particapants go again and the top 4 overall advance-10000 ft

Semi-Finals-The particiapant with the most and least homers go at it head to head, as well as the middle two.Winners advance to the finals- 75000 ft

Finals. The person with the most homers wins!!!-1 mile

Made the first trade of the season, albeit a minor one.

Kanas City initiated this trade, and after reviewing it I gladly accepted.

KC trades Pual Phillips © from their AA team to TB for Gabriel Martiez (3B) from their AA team.

It's a very one sided trade IMO as Phillips is hitting .332 with 6 homers and 32 RBI while Martiez is just a bench player. But the computer started it, so I guess KC needs 3rd basemen.

Plus it will help me out in the future because catchers are something my farm system is weak in.

Still looking to trade Gonzalez.I have tried several deals, but so far none have been accepted.

and just out of curiousity, I tried to the Victor Martinez for Scott Kazmir trade again to see if it would work.It did, but I didn't save.I don't have anybody right now that can fill Kazmir's spot in the rotation or I would.

Beat the Blue Jays in the first game of the second half 3-2.The game was the longest of the year at 16 innngs after Baez blew his fourth save in the 9th when leading 2-1.

Also the rotation has been changed around a bit to reflect performance.

1.Hendrickson

2.Brazelton

3.Fossum

4.Bell

5.Kazmir

and the wildcard standings have been released. Despite being 3.5 back of the Sox in the division, the Devil Rays have a commanding 13 game lead over the Orioles in the Wildcard race. :wtg:

It looks like the D-Rays might be turning this month around after a 5-0 shutout of the Blue Jays.

Rocco Baldelli returned to the lineup and the leadoff spot and went 1-3 with a 2B and an RBI.But the big news was the dominant CG shutout by Cassey Fossum. He scattered 6 hits and struck out 6. This was the type of performance the D-Rays needed after watching their starters do horrible all month long(excluding a few good starts by Hendrickson).

It is the first series win since the middle of June for the D-Rays and the 4th game in a row they have won. They are now 2 back of the Red Sox.

In other news the Pirates, who are 31-60 and 20.5 games back of the Cubs have lost 15 in a row!! Thats FIFTEEN!! Wow.

The Pirates snapped their losing streak at 16 games.

Now onto the D-Rays who had a very very busy day.

First, they swept the Blue Jays in 4 games to not only give them their first sweep since mid June, but it put them 1 game out of the Sox.

So before the game the Devil Rays made a trade to strengthen their pitching staff.

Their second trade of the season:

1B Josh Phelps to San Diego for SP Tim Stuaffer.

Stauffer (8-2 3.69 era 35 k in 61.1 IP) will be inserted into the bullpen as a long relief man. Also he is only 21 years old, so he should improve.

The Devil Rays went into the Red Sox series facing their old Nemesis David Wells. But they rocked him for 6 runs in 4 innings.Stauffer made his Devil Ray debut by pitching 3 innings, and giving up 2 runs (1 earned). The Devils held on to win 7-5. So they move into a tie for first with Boston alothugh they do hold a slim lead percentage wise (.663-.660)The Devil Rays have now won 6 in a row and are now 8-7 in July.

As a result of the first trade of the day, the Devil Rays made one more.Except this one was initiated by the LA Dodgers. So for the second trade of the day and third of the year.

Rp Jesus Colome to LAD for 1B Hee-Seop Choi

Choi (.319 7 HR 27 RBI) will be inserted as the Devil Rays 1st basemen. But for the rest of the Boston series, he will be the DH and bat third as Aubrey Huff is struggling mightily and needs a rest.

So the Devil Rays sure up their bullpen and add a little firepower to their lineup. And with Travis Lee moving to the bench, it increases their bench and gives them a good defenseive replacement.

The second game against the Red Sox was the most exciting game I have played all year.

Rob Bell was on the mound opposing Matt Clement in the fight for first place. Bell started off good going three innings without giving up a run until Damon hit a homer to put the Red Sox on the board. 3 more innings, 2 doubles and a sac fly later and it was 0-3.

Clement did a good job of shutting the Devil Rays down.Only 1 runner got to second base through 6 and every time one did get on, Clement got the next guy to GIDP. But in the 7th inning Hee-Seop Choi, having gone 0-2, hit his first homer as a Devil Ray to put them on the board 1-3.Clement walked both Gathright and Lugo after that.Gossler came up with 2 outs and chance to put the D-Rays ahead. He yanked the first curveball he seen into right field and it looked like it was going to go, but Trot Nixon made a hell of a play to rob him of a homer and to end the inning and Clements day.

John Halama came into the 8th for the Red Sox.He threw a fastball inside to Lee and then a changeup down the middle, that Lee slammed into the centerfield seats for his second homer of the year.2-3 Red Sox.

In the bottom of the 8th with Miller warming up in the pen, Bell got Damon and Renteria to strike out as Manny came up.I didnt want a lefty to face Manny, and with not enough time to warmup a right hander, I stuck with Bell. After getting to a 2-2 count, Bell throw a curveball away, that Manny hit over the Monster to make it 2-4.That ended Bell's day and Miller came in and got Ortiz to ground out.

So Foulke came into the 9th with a 0.95 era and 27 saves. He got the first batter, Baldelli to fly out.Cantu then got a basehit up the middle.Hee Seop Choi them came up with a chance to be a hero, but he struck out. With 2 outs and a runner on, Foulke walked Gathright and Lugo to load the bases.Gossler then came in and singled the other way to drive Gathright in to make it 3-4.With the bases still loaded and 2 outs, Lee came up.I thought about pinch hitting with Huff but since he is struggling I decided to stay with Lee.After getting it to a 2-2 count, Foulke got Lee to fly out to Manny to end the most exciting game of the year.

So the Sox maintain 1st place in the Al East.

Well the Devil Rays won the last game of the series 6-4 to take 2 out of three from the Red Sox, that and coupled with the Red Sox loss on the off day, puts the D-Rays back in first place(by a half game).

Travis Lee had a good series going 5-10 with 3 RBI to raise his BA to .277.But he still loses his job to Hee Seop Choi.

Tim Laker had a spectacular series though, he went 7-9 with 5 RBI's and has taken over the Catcher's job with Hall doing poorly (.247)Laker is now hitting .400(10-25) since being called up.

It looked like the D-Rays were going to have a horrible month of July until the All Star break. Before the break they were 3-7 in the month. After they break they were practicly unbeatable, going 15-2 in their last 17 games. And once again, they won 18 games in a month.

Wins by Month:

April:18-6

May:18-11

June:18-8

July:18-9

They are on pace to win 105 games.

The Devil Rays made a few trades.First acquiring Tim Stauffer to sure up the bullpen, and then aquiring Hee-Seop Choi to strengthen the lineup and add to the bench(with Lee going there). But there were some other major trades that happened:

Fla traded C Paul Lo Duca to Ari for 2B Craig Counsell

Chc traded 2B Todd Walker to Phi for 2B Chase Utley

Tex traded RF Richard Hildalgo and C Sandy Alomar to CLe for RP Kazuhit Tadano and 3B Aaron Boone

Stl traded SS David Eckstein and 2B Hector Luna to Fla for LF Jeff Conine and 2B Wilson Delgado

Sea traded C Miguel Olivio to NYM for SP Phillip Hunter

Also made a roster move at the reccomendation of my coaches. I promoted Catcher Paul Phillips to AAA and demoted Catcher Pete Laforest to AA.

Also Hee-Seop Choi has asked for an extension on his contract. I am going to wait and see how he does in August before granting it.
