goose
It a show of power, the D-Rays hit 4 homer off of Pedro Martinez. And the all came from unexpected sources.Alex Sanchez and Julio Lugo hit back to back jacks in the 3rd to give the D-Rays a 2-0 lead. But the Mets scored 3 in the 7th.Jorge Cantu responded by hitting a homer in the 8th to tie the game. After that, the game went into extras where Cantu hit his 2nd homer of the night to give the D-Rays a 4-3 lead. And the game ended there as Danny Baez and Carter combined for the save. The D-Rays take a 3-2 series lead and are heading back home. And for some more good news, Aubrey Huff has announced that he will be able to DH for games 6 and 7 if neccasary.Cassey Fossum will pitch game 6 as the D-Rays want to save Hendrickson for game 7 if neccassary. goose
Game 6 Cassey Fossum pitched 5 brilliant innings to start it off striking out 6, but the Mets hitters made him work so I brung in Dewon Brazelton to pitch in the 6th.Steve Tractchel was pitching just as well, hold the Devil Rays to 1 hit through 6.Brazelton went 1-2-3 in the 6th, but the 7th brought trouble.A base hit, a Lugo error and a double later and it was 1-0.Dewon would finish the inning but that would be it for him.But in the bottom of the 7th, the Devil Rays worked the bases loaded.Tractchel walked ROY Darren Gossler to force in a run and tie the game, and Toby Hall hit a fly ball that looked like it was going to go out, but Cameron caught it at the wall and Lugo came into score on the sac fly to give the D-Rays a 2-1 lead.Lance Carter would come in and pitch a 1-2-3 8th.Mark Hendrickson warmed up and came into the 9th to retire the two batters he faced.Manager Lou Pinella then called on his closer Danny Baez to finish the game. After getting 2 straight strikes on Miguel Olivio, Baez threw a slider that broke off the plate and Olivio chased. He swung and missed to end the game and the series. THE TAMPA BAY DEVIL RAYS ARE WORLD CHAMPIONS!!! Julio Lugo was the World Series MVP.He hit .304 with one homer, 16 RBI, and 15 stolen bases.Aubrey Huff hit .400. The D-Rays final fincial numbers. 79.0M 81.5M -2.45 M 2.53 after buying level 2 seating. Offseason stuff to come later.

goose
ReSignings: The Owner has announced that he is increasing payroll to 75 Million dollars. The Devil Rays already have 23.5M in contracts through next year and resigned their players for a total of 32.5M. Which means they have 19 million dollars with which to sign players. Some major resignings Danny Baez:2 years 3.5M Mark Hendrickson:4 years 3.0M Rob Bell:3 years 2.0M Dewon Brazelton:2 years 1.8M Cassey Fossum:3 years 1.7 M I would of resigned Hideo Nomo but he wanted a multi-year deal. And since he is 37, I wasn;t willing to give him one. Travis Lee took a discount, so he signed a 1 year deal for 900k. Alex Sanchez signed a 2 year deal worth 1 million dollars, but he may still be traded.
