Wolverineman
First, this is about MVP2004. But, there isn't a MVP 2004 Dynasty forum. And secondly I know I'll get a much better response in here. If you want to move this to MVP2004 General, thats fine. Okay, well I just finished my Devil Rays dynasty. One year, I played every game. It was a lot of fun, I won 95 games and the Series. Carl Crawford got the MVP(Insane .330 140-45-165 150 SB season). I did a lot of trading to try out different players or when I had a player that performed unfairly(Lyle Overbay and Dallas McPherson both way out performed what they should have, so I traded them). I realize Crawford did that too, but I wanted to keep him around to see what I could do with him. Anyway, I need a new dynasty to take up my time. I don't like having full control of it. I always make too many trades and end up with a team full of speedsters and run like crazy. I had 3 people over 100 steals in my last dynasty. While thats fun, I want a challenge. I also usually fill the team with young players. Instead of just going the exact opposite, I thought of doing this. I want people here to tell me what team to use, what ballpark to play in(either their current one or an oldtime park thats in the game), and what players to get. I don't want the team to be just utterly horrible or insanely good. I have no idea if this will go over well or not, but I thought I'd try. Oh, I do have one player that I'm choosing, and thats Ty Cobb. I'm making a run for .400 as a goal of the dynasty. What i'd like to see happen is each person give me a few players to use. Like if you read this and think "Hmm, it'd be neat to see him use Greg Maddux, or Mark Bellhorn, or whoever" then say so. The team doesn't really matter in who they have, but in who they play. And possibly the ballpark if you want me to play in that ballpark and not an old time one. I'd also prefer to not use that many if any Devil Ray players because I'm used to them, or anyone from this group(Lyle Overbay, Cezar Izturis, Rickie Weeks, Dallas McPherson, Miguel Olivo, Tim Hudson, Victor Martinez, Huston Street, John Smoltz, and Francisco Rodriguez). Those are the main ones I've used in my last dynasty. Team: Ballpark: Batting Order: 1. 2. 3. Ty Cobb CF 4. 5. 6. 7. Fred McGriff 1B 8. 9. Bench: Starting Rotation: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Wolverineman
I forget what datafile I use, but the steal delay is at like 5 and the user steal speed has been put down until I get results that I feel are realistic, % wise. I also run constantly when I have fast people. I try to steal 2nd, I try to steal 3rd. If I have Crawford or Gathright on 3rd and a runner with some speed on 1st, I do the double steal and try to steal home. I was probably caught 25-30 times total with Crawford on the season, which gives me around a 83-85% success rate, which is only a couple % higher than his career average. Its all about chances. I walked quite a bit(OBP was over .420 I believe) and was on a lot with fielders choice. And it was fun because the games were fun. If I was blowing every team out and getting that many steals, or getting a 95-100% success rate, I'd agree. But I played the way I wanted to and had a lot of fun.
