herodotus7
Has anybody had a problem with the play slowing up, which seriously affects the rhythm of play? I've followed EA's tech support tips which suggest that you should close "background" tasks, defrag, clean, etc.. Nothing works though. The game will play fine for several innings in then it will start to slow down occaisionally. Eventually it slows down every few moments. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks. herodotus7
Less than a year old Dell Inspiron 5150, 33.7 GB capacity, 20.1 Free space, GeForce FX Go5200, CPU 3.06GHz, Pentium R4, what else you need to know? i didn't have any problems until maybe a month ago. so the game ran fine for a couple of months, than started to slow down during the game some. it's too annoying to play now. Sologub
I would love to hear an answer to this as it has JUST happened to me. It is very annoying. My video card and processor are way above the minimum specs to run the game with all the options maxed out. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game several times, etc... It only happens when I try to play or create/edit a player. Anyways, any insight would be appreciated.
cybernetic
I don't know.. but this may seem like an obvious question but did u install patch #2? This patch is supposed to fix the choppiness issues
big shmooz
I know this may sound ridiculous but is it possible that you have a virus or adware on your computer? Both of these things can & will cause computer slowdown. Do a check on both of these & see if you have this problem.
big shmooz
I don't know.. but this may seem like an obvious question but did u install patch #2? This patch is supposed to fix the choppiness issues I don't think his issues are the one's you are describing. If it were, then first of all the issue would not be one of general choppiness. Nor did the prepatch game work "too slow". Secondly, he mentions that the game plays fine for several innings... If the issue were the problem that the patch fixes, then the problem would start as soon as he started to play.
Lars777
Are you overclocking the Gforce card ?.......Many guys try and overclock there card with stock cooling.....and they just keep pushing it higher and higher....until you get problems like what you describe here.....If you are overclocking the card I suggest that you set the clock speeds back to default and run the game again.......If you are not overclocking the card....then check the fan on the card and make sure its running like it should.......this has the sounds of a GPU getting to hot....it will run for a bit then it gets to hot and just slows down............. Sologub
Lars777 is on to something. Last night (I am 11 hours away from you all in Kazakhstan) after posting this, I went home and inspected my video card. It was extremely hot. I am not overclocking it, but it wasn't cooling off as it needed to. I have a bunch of fans in my computer case, so I removed some obstructing cables and cleaned out the video card fan. To make a long story short, that did the trick until my card started to heat up again although this time it took much longer. I was able to use the game without it slowing down. So, for me it definately was the video card overheating.
herodotus7
i suspect overheating is a problem with me too. i'm on a laptop and the bottom of the computer heats up pretty good. how do re-clock the video card? is this manual or through software? thanks
myk13
my game just started doing this too..how do i see if im overclocking my video card?
Lars777
Well if you are not sure that you are then you most likey are not overclocking. You can shut down your system though and locate your graphics card..... pull it out and clean all the dust and junk from the fan. It does not take much dust to cause motherboards cpus and graphics cards to start to run hot..... My rule of thumb is to blow out my system once every two weeks.....and I use a blower that is used to blow up air mattresses.....works quite well. Much much better than the compressed air can you can buy.
Veesmack
Perhaps you have Spyware or Adware slowing down your computer. I'd recommend looking at the programs that are running and seeing if any of the files are suspicious. Then I would manually check out some of the Registry while using the "regedit" in RUN and remove entries that might be the culprit. You might want to remove the crowd from the stands. It helps the framerate. I do that but I like to just look at the how the stadiums look when they are empty. Then again, I just have to look at the Montreal Expos in their final years and numerous Florida Marlins games from Dontrelle's rookie (and WS) year to remind myself what near empty stadiums look like. Ubiquitous
I have this exact same problem - and always have done. I am afraid there is no cure for it. :(

forte14
We seem to be having different problems, I had this problem and I cleaned out the dust and I realized that I had been living with bad framereate for a looong time. Now the game almost seems too fast because I adjusted to the slow version.
