Weird computer trades...

For some reason that I will probably never figure out, during the second year of my Owner Mode as the Red Sox are 4 games behind the Yankees with about 10 games left they traded CF Johnny Damon and C Jason Varitek to the 2nd place Phillies for 2B Placido Polanco and C Quinn Abbott. The Phillies had no chance at catching the Mets as they were the first to clinch a playoff spot in the NL, and were just as far behind the Astros/Cardnials for the Wild Card.

The Phillies now have no middle infielders with 3 1Bs and 2 3Bs, which I guess doesnt matter much since they are staying home for Oct. But the Red Sox after the Damon trade went 3-7 but still managed to get the Wild Card but now they have to face my Mariners in the first round and Damon was actually the only guy on the team that ever gave me much of a problem.

The CPU just makes no sense sometimes, anybody else have some weird trades???

Yeah it's a bizarre trade.. the Twins traded OF Jacque Jones and OF Torii Hunter to the LA Dodgers for 2B Jeff Kent and SS Cesar Izturis when they had a slew of injuries in my dynasty

If it were the real Dodgers they'd trade those two for 2 injured AA players to be named later.

Yeah, the computer traded Carlos Beltran and Tom Glavine from the Mets for B. Kim (I won't even attempt to spell it), Mike Piazza (Who was traded to the Rockies earlier in the season), and a minor leaguer (Can't remember who). Now the Mets WERE in last place, but the Rockies had a horrible record, so it's not like the Rockies were going to be buyers at the deadline.

Why do some guys get traded to several teams in 1 season (For example, Matt Clement was traded to 3 teams in one year).

The Red Sox seem to have some major problems in my dynasty as well, they don't like catchers but they LOVE shortstops...

First, they traded Varitek and some young pitcher to the Nationals for Jose Vidro and Christian Guzman. Fine, now they have Shoppach and Mirabelli but they still have three SS in Guzman, Hanley Ramirez and Renteria. Then they traded Shoppach to the Padres for Ryan Klesko, so they're stuck with only one cather, and after the season they lost Mirabelli, Klesko and Trot Nixon to FA...

Needless to say they now have som major holes in their lineup with three SS and one catcher from the minors who is by far the worst player on the team. I felt sorry for them so I traded Miguel Olivo to them for Abe Alvarez.

I have also seen Polanco being traded in one of owner modes, he was traded to Seattle for Bloomquist and Randy Winn, the Phillies gave up Randy Wolf along with Polanco to make that deal, which wasnt a stretch in my opinion. But I have seen some trades that made no sense, like Washington trading Endy Chavez over to Milwaukie for Russ Branyan, decent but Branyan was hitting lights out for Milwaukie and Washington wasnt even playing him and Chavez wasnt playing in Washington and continued to ride the pine in Milwaukie, the whole trade made no sence so I just reversed it and sent them both back to their orrigonal teams.

Yea, in my dynasty the Mets traded David Wright and Jose Reyes to the San Francisco Giants for Pedro Feliz and Brett Tomko and we know that will never happen in real life

Pudge for Javy Lopez, then Pudge for Lopez again a few weeks later.

I gues they liked what they had in the first place.

Wright, Reyes, Beltran << A's

Chavez, Swisher, Melhuse << Met's.

I dunno. For me though, Chavy and Swisher are hitting pretty well on my A's dynasty (not the same dynasty), but still not the greatest trade for the Mets there.

not so much a CPU to CPU trade, but a CPU suggested trade to me:

OAK sends SS Bobby Crosby. I (SF) send SS Omar Vizquel. Hrmm...

Well, the trade was disapproved at first because Vizquel's salary is higher than Crosby's. BUT, if I add in RP Jay Witasik from OAK to make the salary higher on my end, they accept. With both fair trades and budgets on.

What's Billy Beane going to call that book?

the Dodgers always wants to trade Cesar Izturis around mid-May also, so I pick him up for 2B / backup infield

This is some interesting stuff. Both Izturis and Crawford...are there any other guys that always end up on the block?
