Kriegz
I am trying to add a bunch of cyberfaces and the models.big file has reached 2899, I add the 3 files using EAGE, then go into BigGUI to compress, but now the strage thing is that random files are decompressing themselves in bunches when I compress the added cyberface. Even sometimes when I try to compress some faces I get a Kernel32.ddl error and BigGUI in a bunch of places. My game is crashing everywhere now and its because the faces won't stay compressed. Any Ideas?
supdog
I have never used bigui but have you tried compressing with eazip and then importing them with eage? You can also compress all the files with eazip by using this command "eazip -c *.fsh"
Kriegz
I thought that compressed the .fsh files but not the .ord and .orl files
Kriegz
Now even files that are compressed are crashing even though they worked when I first installed them, faces I did nothing to are crashing like Hideo Nomo, and some are still working, this is crazy and confusing
bjbourg1
I had the same problem and could never figure it out. So I just deleted all my downloaded cyberface files and reinstalled the game. I now ONLY use files that come w/ an install.bat with them b/c it automatically compresses the .fsh, .orl, .org files into the models.big file. I've had success (so far) with the faces that have install.bat files w/ them. It may work for you, but I could definitly be wrong. Good luck and hope this may help. Kriegz
Do you have Windows ME or XP?
Kriegz
Strange thing is, I can install them right with this method for a good amount of faces and then everything goes wrong
jogar84
all u have to do is go load up models.big in BigGui and re-compress the files that are not. This may happen sometimes, but u dont have to un-install any of the new faces.
UncleMo
I hope I am not steering this conversation in the wrong way but is there a limit to the size of the models.big file? If so, how many faces can be installed, or, rather, what is the limit to the file size?
bjbourg1
I too have been wondering about the amount of files the models.big file can hold. If anyone knows if there is a limit, please help. Thanks.
ItalianJay
I had the same problem too. I solved it recompressing the file with BigGUI. I had noticed this problem mostly with jogar84 faces (sorry guy...it's not your fault, your work is great! )
spitoon
I hope I am not steering this conversation in the wrong way but is there a limit to the size of the models.big file? If so, how many faces can be installed, or, rather, what is the limit to the file size? I thought there was a limit of 3000 faces...
Kriegz
When I try to recompress the ones that decompressed themselves I get a Kernel32.ddl error
Kriegz
I thought there was a limit of 3000 faces... That is the limit of GFXpak so after 3000 you have to do it with BigGUI
supdog
I thought that compressed the .fsh files but not the .ord and .orl files Have you tried it with eazip yet? It will compress ord/orl files
bill
from my experience biggui randomly decompresses files sometimes so i dont use it anymore.
Kriegz
I will try EaZip in a little so I will get back and tell if it worked
UncleMo
tribe, how many faces do you have so I can know to stay under THAT number? Did you dl all cyberfaces? If so, I am not planning on using all cyberfaces so I can know that I won't have this issue if I simply choose not to use all of them.
Kriegz
Its not an issue of size, you just can't install via the install.bat over 3000 files in the models.big. Then you have to install them another way and BigGUI is being a ***** to me
Kriegz
EaZip Method is working so far, now I will see how it handles it with more than 2899 faces

NickD
I had that same problem with Biggui last year in 04, great to see there's an alternate now.
lilloreo
Every face I install with this method works, thanks for the help guys Tribe, could you give me a quick step by step process to install them with Eazip? Also where can I d/l it? Thanks for any help!!!
Dodger_Fan
I could also use some info on EAZip. I am having the exact same problem you were having, Tribe. Extremely frustrating!! Do you have to extract the problem files out of models.big first, then compress them? Any help would be much appreciated!! **EDIT - I think I have it figured out. We'll see if it works. If it does work, it's not only better because it works, but it is also much quicker to load large amounts of mods, such as portraits. Thanks for the tip!! big shmooz
For those who do not know... here is the way to do it. Install the cyberfaces via eage then go into big gui & compress them one set at a time. (ord orl fsh) Do not rebuild after compression. Then make the models.big a read only file, so nothing can decompress on it's own afterward. In the future if you add more files, simply uncheck the read only of the file, then after finishing, set it back to read only.
