NickD
The league leader in strikeout ratios can fall to +60ks short of realistic numbers in MVP 2005 simulated seasons. Now how can a BASEBALL game ignore STRIKEOUT stats? This is like having an NFL game where QBs throw 20 TDs a year to lead the league (and there being NOTHING you can do about it), or in baseball terms, having the RBI leader every year at 81-90 RBIs, or HRs 25-30. Having inaccurate stats out of the box I can live with, but not being able to do A DAMN THING ABOUT IT is beyond lousy, it SUCKS. (To my dismay, Batter tendencies do NOTHING and only contact will lower Ks in small amounts; ie drop contact across the league by 50% and you could see a 10-20% increase in K counts, which is still short) Unbelievably annoying and it's hard to believe more people aren't outraged over this. What I'm curious about then, is how are there not more people angered or upset by such an outstanding mistake by EA Sports?! (which happens in every single sports title they make save perhaps Madden) I'm very close to returning this game, stats is so vital to enjoying a baseball experience IMO; the game is practically unplayable. And it's unfortunate that we as consumers don't voice our displeasure over things like this more so maybe we can force EA Sports to stop insulting us real fans. /rant
boulet430
1. Yes more of us notice it. We like yourself have been frustrated by the low strikeout numbers in simulation modes. Several guys are looking into possible fixes, but it looks pretty bleak. 2. You are right that it makes it tough to enjoy. 3. Voice it to EA all you want. Since they are no longer making an MLB game, I doubt they care if we are unhappy with this one.
NickD
I know, i'm not ranting at this community, it's just really a vague hope that some EA higher up reads this and feels bad for us (I've a better chance of having a giant piano fall through the ceiling and killing me) WHY.THE.HELL. did they introduce Batter Tendencies?! Is it there to mock us or to pretend they did something about K numbers and hope we wouldn't notice that Miss/Chase do nothing. The reason I speak out to this community is through search I can't find anyone else complaining that batter tendencies do nothing; surely someone else noticed this?! I also believe the reason you dont see more people complaing about it is because we have already complained, bitched, and moaned and then moved on because its just something thats not gonna get fixed. Yes, it does make the game impossible to play sometimes, which is the reason I'm taking a break from the game because it has me so frustrated. Like boulet430 said, EA isnt gonna give 2 shites about it because they already got our money and since, IMO they pretty much have the market cornered in decent sports games, unless theres a nation-wide boycot(very doubtful) EA will continue to do what they want and we will sit back and take it. NickD
Yeeeep. Jeez, i'm not a programmer, but i think it's suffice to say this would be an easy fix for EA Sports. It's not worth their time however because we already paid them. If it were a subcription based game and we could pay for updates every year/month whatever I would certainly do it. Release a game, and then improve it until the customers are satisfied rather than releasing a new product with a myriad of different problems each year. Though this year 2005 IS better than 04, but still COULD be way better. In the past a new version would just mean different problems, rarely improvement (save for graphics). I'm not asking for the moon here, EA is very capable of changing these annoying tendencies almost all their games have. If we can't hurt their bottom line then no changes will be made, unfortuntely. Gudraves
"Until the customers are satisfied", fat chance of that ever happening cuz there is always something that one person thinks should be one way while another believes the opposite. There are people out there that will read this thread and say that we are retarded and that theres nothing wrong with the game. There was a time when everyone wanted to be able to create the perfect player with all 99s and then once every game made that possible its a ridiclous thing to do except to have alittle fun with because they ***** about realism and how real is that??? Games could always be better or could be fixed but if they fix every little problem then theres no reason to buy next years game, it all comes down to marketing. As far as a subscription based game I am totally against that idea personally, no matter how great or perfect a game is I will never ever pay monthly or yearly to play a game.
