Gagne Makes it Interesting

hugflores9zg.png

(Above: Gardenhire wants to give the ump a hug, Right: Flores hits a double to keep the Dodgers' inning going.)

icon_la.gif The fifth inning has been quite the inning for the Dodgers this year. As they were able to bring in two runs on RBIs by Jayson Werth and Pete Orr. They got a little help from Justin Morneau, as he dropped an arrant throw from Luis Rivas to allow the second run of the inning score.

This would prove costly as the Twins would score a run in the seventh that would've tied the game, but it didn't. Luis Rivas scored on a Shannon Stewart double.

Gagne made the game interesting in the ninth, as he allowed two runners to reach base, but Ricky Ledee bailed him out with a fantastic shoestring catch to end the game. After the game, manager Jim Tracy announced that Carl Crawford has fully recovered from his injury and will return to centerfield, replacing Ledee who did well filling in for the injured Crawford.

Crawford Comes Through

winners6el.png

(Above: Reames picks up the win over the Twins, Right: Crawford is stunning in his first game back - and scores the winning run.)

icon_la.gif In his first game back from his stint on the DL, Carl Crawford goes 3-5 with a triple, two stolen bases, and he scored the game winning run in the eleventh. The other run for the Dodgers was scored by Pete Orr in the sixth on a Andy Marte RBI single.

Odalis Perez was nearly perfect in this afternoon's game. As he didn't allow a single runner to reach base until the fifth. But he had one blimish in the ninth that allowed one run to score and tie the game up at one. Britt Reames was brought into the game in the tenth, and went two innings giving up only one hit while striking out four to earn his second win on the year.

This win brings the Dodgers back up to .500 on the year. Something that was almost unimaginable last month.

have you scored more than 2 runs in a game? what kind of sliders are you using? there is no offense in this dynasty!

Yes I have - eight games ago! Let's see, I'm using Pared's sliders with Jim's Combo Datafile on All-Star. The only thing that's allowing me to win is my pitching, which - I must say - is superb.

Crawford is popular, you probably know I have him too!

Acutally, believe it or not, I did know that. I was that guy who told you that Crawford is injury prone and that you should trade for him even though he'll probably end up getting hurt.

Choi Kills KC

choigagne1pv.png

(Above: Choi goes 3-4 with a RBI double in tonight's game, Right: Gagne comes in with bases loaded and records 17th save.)

icon_la.gif Everyone in the Dodgers' lineup tonight had a hit except for third baseman Andy Marte, but he was robbed of his first major league homer in the eighth. He was able to bring in J. D. Drew though, who was tagging up just in case the ball was caught.

Right out of the gate, the Dodgers knew that today was going to be a good day. With back-to-back doubles by Jayson Werth and Drew gave them an early 1-0 lead. They would added two more in the eighth, on a RBI double by Hee-Seop Choi and then the sac-fly by Marte.

These two runs would prove to be crucial, as the Royals would score their lone run in the bottom of the eighth on a RBI double by David DeJesus. The Royals would load the bases with two outs with Jeff Weaver pitching, but Eric Gagne was brought into the game to finish out the inning. And he did just that, and he then proceeded to pitch the ninth inning to record his seventeenth save on the year.

Washburn Waxed, Again

harveydrew1jl.png

(Above: Harvey hits grandslam in the Royal's routing of the Dodgers, Right: Drew drives in the only run for the Dodgers tonight.)

icon_la.gif It seems as if the trade for Jarrod Washburn hasn't turned out that well. In three starts for the Dodgers, Washburn is 1-2 with an ERA around 4.00.

The Royals scored their first of many runs in the first inning on a Terrance Long solo homer to lead off the game for Kansas City. The Royals would score again in the fourth on a grand slam by Ken Harvey, his eighth on the year.

After the fifth, Jim Tracy decided to put in Britt Reames. And he pitched well, except for the solo homer to Matt Stairs. That's his first run allowed in 25+ innings. In the ninth, the Dodgers would try to mount a comeback as they brought one run across the plate and had runners on second and third but they were unable to score anymore.

And Where Did This Come From?

orrcraw4wv.png

(Above: Orr scores one of the Dodgers' 8 runs tonight, Right: Crawford hits a ground rule double in the game.)

icon_la.gif How did the Dodgers score eight runs tonight? Where exactly did this come from? I don't know, but I'm pretty sure that all Dodgers fans are quite happy with this scoring output. The only Dodger without a hit in tonight's game was Dioner Navarro, which is pretty unexplainable for reasons that I'm not too sure of.

The Dodgers started off the game right, scoring a run in the first. But the Royals would answer back with a two-run homer off the bat of Mike Sweeney, his eighth on the year. And in the fourth, the Dodgers had one of the best innings of their year - scoring five runs from various players. They scored so many runs I can't even remember who all scored them!

And just too add a little bit of insurance, the Dodgers would score two more runs in the sixth. This eight run output by the Dodgers is, hopefully, a sign of things to come. As they have been squeaking by winning by one or two runs.

Home Run Derby?

saenzwerth0nk.png

(Above & Right: Jayson Werth and Olmedo Saenz both hit two homers in tonight's routing of the White Sox.)

icon_la.gif Wow! That's about all you can say about tonight's game between the White Sox and the Dodgers. A combined eight home runs between the two teams, six of which were hit by the Dodgers! They had homers by: Andy Marte, Antonio Perez, and two homers by Jayson Werth & Olmedo Saenz.

The Dodgers didn't waste any time scoring, with Saenz hitting his first homer of the night to give the Dodgers an early 1-0 lead. They scored again in the second on yet another homer, this one by Marte - the first of his major league carrer. But, the Sox would try to keep the game respectable with Frank Thomas hitting his fourteenth homer on the year.

In the third, the Dodgers would score three runs, one on a RBI single by Perez, driving in Pete Orr. And they would also get Werth's first homer on the game to put the Dodgers up 5-1. Again, in the fourth, they would score on a homer - this one by Perez - his first on the year. The Dodgers would get one run in the sixth and in the seventh on homers by Saenz and Werth - their second on the day.

Dodgers Fall to Sox

martecws7ee.png

(Above: Marte makes a throw from his knees to record an out, Right: Crede hits homer in the eighth to give the Sox a win.)

icon_la.gif Today's game was a complete turn around from last night's. With only six hits combined in today's game, and only three runs scored. Two from the White Sox and only one from the Dodgers.

The first run of tonight's game was scored in the sixth, on a solo jack from left fielder Ross Gload his fourth on the year. But the Dodgers would respond in the eighth, when Pete Orr hit a single up the middle with one out and then stole second. Jose Flores would then hit a single to right field to tie the game up at 1-1.

But in the bottom of the eighth, Joe Crede hit his thirteenth homer on the year to give the White Sox a 2-1 win over the Dodgers.

Dodgers Take Series, Win 2-0

weavercarl2ii.png

(Above: Weaver pitched eight shutout innings tonight for his 8th win, Right: Crawford increases his league leading stolen base total to 29 in tonight's game.)

icon_la.gif The Dodgers quickly responded to their loss to the White Sox tonight, with a 2-0 shutout. From the get-go it looked very promising for the Dodgers, with Carl Crawford leading off the game with a double and Jayson Werth driving him in with yet another double. This would be all that they would need as Jeff Weaver would pitch an exceptional game tonight.

Weaver would go eight strong innings allowing only four hits and no runs. Also, he struck out five - lowering his ERA down to a miniscule 0.83. The Dodgers would add a little insurance in the eighth, with Hee-Seop Choi driving in Werth to give the Dodgers a 2-0 lead and eventual win.

Complete Ownage

padres0if.png

(Above: Klesko continues to massacre Dodger pitching, Right: Giles puts the dagger in the heart of the Dodgers with a grand-slam.)

icon_la.gif Tonight's game looked as if no one would ever score, with Washburn throwing a perfect game until the fifth and the Dodgers only having two hits until the fifth. But, in that crucial fifth inning each team scored a single run to break to scoreless tie to make the game a 1-1 tie.

Things were looking just like the begining of the game, until the bottom of the eighth inning. In the eighth, Britt Reames was brought into to the game to releave Washburn, but he wasn't able to do what he'd done all year. Allowing five earned runs, four of which were scored on a Brain Giles homer to give the Padres a 6-1 win.
