It's About Time!

icon_la.gif Finally, the Dodgers got their second win over the Marlins this year breaking their two game losing streak. All they needed was Jeff Weaver, as he went the entire game without surrendering a run and only allowing 6 hits while striking out five.

The Dodgers started out like they needed this game, which they did. Carl Crawford hit his fifth homer of the year on the third pitch that he saw from Josh Beckett. But, this would be all they would get for a while. Fortunately, the Marlins wouldn't be able to get anything started off of Weaver.

In the sixth however, Los Angeles would break out of its shell, posting five runs in this inning. Jayson Werth would cap off the inning with a three run homer, his 32nd on the year that would give Weaver and the Dodgers a good cushion 6-0.

Duuuuuuuuuude. nic diary :D I'm trying to start one myself but i just don't have the will power to put in as much effort as you :(

Thanks man. But, it doesn't take that much effort just a little time. :)

Also, you'll want to change the size of your sig, it's height (199 pixels) is too big for what this site allows (125 pixels). Link.

Two In A Row

(Above: Drew drive in a run with this single to right, Right: McKeon expresses his frustration in a manner that got him tossed.)

icon_la.gif The Dodgers came back to tie this series at two games a piece with their second straight shutout of the Marlins. "If you'd have told me this after the first two games of the series, I would have never believed you," said outfielder J. D. Drew after this evening's game.

For the first time in the series, the Dodgers didn't score in the first inning, but they did score first - posting two runs in the second. These two runs would score on Jason Phillip's 2-RBI single to left that brought Jayson Werth and Olmedo Saenz in to score.

Los Angeles wouldn't score again until the sixth when Drew drove in Cesar Izturis after he lead off the inning with a double. This would be all the Dodgers would score, but it would be enough as Jarrod Washburn would not allow a single run in this game.

Washburn pitched exceptional tonight, allowing only four hits the first of which was hit in the sixth inning. He would also add seven strikeouts to his nearly perfect night.

Dodgers: 78-46

Marlins: 64-60

Hitting Notables:

C. Izturis: 2-4, 2 2B(16)

J. Drew: 2-4, 1 RBI

J. Phillips: 1-4, 2 RBI

Pitching Notables:

J. Washburn: 9 IP, 0 ER, 4 H, 7 Ks, 3.09 ERA, Win

D. Willis: 6 IP, 3 ER, 6 H, 2 Ks, 1 BB, 2.88 ERA, Loss

G. Mota: 2 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 3 Ks, 4.08 ERA

J. Mecir: 1 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 1 K, 1.90 ERA

Box Score:

Great game by Washburn. Good luck with the Rockies series.

Yeah, he's had some troubles this year and it's good to see him one win away from .500.

Thanks for the heads up! :D

No problem, just didn't want you to get in trouble for it or anything.

Thanks, I do as well.

Nailbiter in Los Angeles

drewizturis3yu.png

(Above: Drew goes 4-4 tonight with a lone RBI, Right: Izturis is unable to turn the double play and fall flat on his face.)

icon_la.gif Even though the Rockies are in last place in the NL West, they seem to always give the Dodgers trouble. So far, this year the record between the two teams is 5-5, so the winner of tonight's game would gain position in the West.

The Rockies would be the first to score, scoring a lone run in the first inning. Matt Holliday would score off of a Preston Wilson sacrifice fly to right giving the Rockies an early 1-0 lead. But, the Dodgers would be quick to respond, scoring a lone run in their half of the first. Carl Crawford lead the Dodgers off with a single and then proceeded to steal second. J. D. Drew then drove him in with a single to center to tie the game up at 1-1.

The Dodgers would score again in the fifth, when Holliday made an error allowing Dioner Navarro to score and give the Dodgers a 2-1 lead over the Rockies. Again, they would add another run in the seventh, this time Cesar Izturis would bring Crawford around to score, giving much needed insurance to bring the score to 3-1.

In the eighth, Colorado would add another run to decrease the Dodgers' lead. This time it would be Dustin Mohr that would bring Holliday across the plate to bring the score to 3-2. Eric Gagne would then come in for the ninth and make the game interesting. With runners on first and third and no outs, he would then get two popups to the infield and strike the last batter out to record his 43rd save on the year.

Dodgers: 79-46

Rockies: 52-73

Hitting Notables:

C. Crawford: 3-4, 2 Runs, 2 SB(91)

E. Gagne: 1 IP, 0 ER, 1 H, 1 K, 1.58 ERA, Save

C. Tsao: 6 IP, 2 ER, 7 H, 1 K, 5.04 ERA, Loss
