UncleMo
Is there an age that all players tend to drop off in terms of their attributes? Chipper Jones drops off at age 34! I know the general consensus is that at the age 27-32 is when a player peaks, but man, Chipper's batting contact and power drop off considerably to the point where I've GOT to release him or trade him and bring up Andy Marte. Any comments on the subject of a drop off point (age of the player) would be appreciated. I'm using the player progression mod version 1.
cybernetic
well realistically you should've brought up Marte before as a backup earlier before he started to drop off and slow ease him in as your starter over a couple years and then when Chipper's contract is up.. let him go to free agency if Marte is ready
UncleMo
Ok ok, it's just like telling a Yankee fan to release Jeter. Its immoral almost. It isn't in the bible, but it could be there somewhere. Plus I'm wondering if this age 34-ish will hold true with any player at the same star level rating as C. Jones.
cybernetic
nah but bring up Marte when you feel he's ready and use him as a backup and if Marte fails then trade him for a guy (or two) who's in AA or something who might be ready in a couple years and then when Chip drops off the new guy will be ready

UncleMo
alright, he SHOULD be a 5 but I'll double check. I edited his attributes when I started the dynasty but I'll c what star power he has because that could be the issue. Thanks.
CT_Braves_Fan
I agree that it seems almost sacrilegious to trade Chipper at all. As this guy has been the heart and soul of the Braves almost as much as Smoltz, but... ...it is just a computer game, and if he is dropping off that much, see what you can get for him before he turns into a financial or on the field albatross around your neck. Have you tried trading him for a Miguel Cabrera or Aubrey Huff type players, probably compairable star ratings (give or take a wee bit), younger and give you the flexibility of an outfielder and third baseman if Marte doesn't work for you.
