I found that you never know who might be on a site from time to time. If it is Pat Borders, he might just have the same name. It is possible, and who says the real Pat Borders cant play MVP 2005?? LOL

Update 04/20/2006:

Dynasty Mode:

Although the Jays have increased their batting power with the acquisition of Glaus, Overbay, and Molina, I can't hit homeruns at the moment. In the 2-5 loss against the Mariners, all I got were lazy fly balls or pop-ups. Maybe I'll find my swing again in the final game of series. After that, it's two important duels against the Angels and the Yankees. read more...

Owner Mode:

Despite a couple of injuries [Newhan - torn left shoulder muscle (249 days); Rivas - minor PCL sprain (9 days)], my team is doing really well. They won their seventh straight against the Tribe (5-2) and are now leading the AL East by one game over the Yanks. After two more games at Jacobs Field, I'll play in Minnesota and Washington. read more...

Update 04/29/2006:

Dynasty Mode:

After five straight wins, my run ended at Yankee stadium. Derek Jeter's solo blast was enough for NY to win the final game of the series 1-0. Halladay pitched a complete game, but there wasn't any offense to support him. Next up, I'll play the White Sox in Chicago, and then the Indians and the Orioles at home. read more...

Owner Mode:

My team really needed a solid leadoff-hitter, so I acquired Joey Gathright from the D'backs in exchange for Chris Duffy. Gathright didn't disappoint in his first apperance, as he was 2-4 with one stolen base against Oakland. I ended winning the game 3-1, thanks to an outstanding Albert Pujols. He hit his fifth homer of the year, increasing his average to .307. I'm now 33-22, 1 1/2 games ahead of the Yankees. The bad news: Kerry Wood and Chris Capuano both got hit by balls to suffer fractured arms. Wood will be out for 28 days, Capuano for 36 days. read more...

Update 05/09/2006:

Dynasty Mode:

After the last win (3-2 over the O's), my team is now 21-15. It was a tough game, with Baltimore taking an early two-run lead. The Jays responded in the seventh inning, when Catalanotto drove in two and Wells followed with the winning RBI. Against his former teammates, closer B.J. Ryan recorded his eleventh save of the year, and Francisco Rosario got his first Major League win. read more...

Update 05/10/2006:

Owner Mode:

In the final game of a three-game series, I decided to bench Hank Blalock and give Joe McEwing some playtime. Boy, what a good decision! McEwing hit two singles (one was ruled an error) and his first longball of the year. Plus he was also walked to times, which means he reached bases in all his five at-bats. I ended winning the game 5-3, thus sweeping the Astros. My team is now 39-24, leading the AL East by 3 1/2 games. read more...

Update 05/25/2006:

Owner Mode:

After a moderate start into the new season, Aaron Cook is quickly developing into one of my most reliable starting pitchers. In my team's latest victory (2-0 over Tampa Bay), he threw his second complete-game shutout of the season. Hank Blalock (leading the AL with 22 HRs) and Albert Pujols provided the run-support for Cook. It was the 50th win of the year for the Blue Jays. read more...

Dynasty Mode:

I always enjoy playing at Fenway Park, especially when the game goes into extra innings. Last time, the Sox had a quick lead of 2-1, but it wasn't over yet. Frank Catalanotto tied the game in the ninth, and B.J. Ryan didn't allow anything from there. Finally, the Jays won 4-2, thanks to RBIs by Overbay and Catalanotto in the eleventh inning. The team record is now 29-20, second in the AL East. read more...

Transaction News (Owner Mode):

BLOCKBUSTER TRADE - Toronto trades 1B Albert Pujols, CF Curtis Granderson, and CF Alex Escobar (AAA) to Colorado for LF Manny Ramirez and 1B Justin Morneau.

It breaks my heart to trade away "Prince Albert", but I think it was a good decision. I always had problems adjusting to his batting stance (I'm playing with batting camera #5, and Pujols' left arm would be blocking the delivery of RHPs most of the time). That's why Albert only had 7 homers, 50 RBIs, and an average of around .290 by the break of the All-Star game.

I finally decided to trade him (along with Granderson and Escobar) to the Rockies for Manny and Morneau. Let's hope it was a good deal for the Blue Jays...

Update 07/31/2006:

Owner Mode:

It's a tough race for number one in the AL East between my Jays (72-55) and the Yankees (69-58 ). I was able to win the first two games of a four-game series in the Bronx, but fell short in the final two. The offense is still struggling, but at least my pitching is solid. Roy Oswalt is still on the DL, but his replacement Omar Daal is simply fantastic. read more...

Dynasty Mode:

Again, me (69-37) and the Yanks (73-30) are fighting for the lead in the division. I don't even wanna think about what New York can do, now that Abreu and Lidle have joined the team... Anyway, thanks to an outstanding B.J. Ryan (pitched four innings, earned seventh win), I stole a game in extra-innings at Safeco Field. read more...

Update 08/08/2006:

Owner Mode:

Only about twenty more games to go in the regular season, and my Jays are struggling big time. Out of the last 13 games, I've lost ten! Manny Ramirez can't hit anything at the moment, and my pitching is really weak. Despite all this, I'm still leading the AL East, but the Red Sox and the Yankees are only two games behind me. Plus Tampa Bay might also have a shot at the playoffs. Man, this is killing me. read more...

Dynasty Mode:

Unlike my fantasy team, the "real" Jays are doing more than well. Leader New York is out of reach, but I think that the Wild Card is in safe Canadian hands. The last game was in Kansas City, a 5-4 win in ten innings. B.J. Ryan is so dominant, it's almost scary. He's recording win after win (8-1) and his ERA has dropped to a microscopic 1.03. What a player! read more...

Update 08/25/2006:

Owner Mode:

It was a hard piece of work, but I made the playoffs in the end. With the Red Sox and the Indians being only one game behind me, I was able to win the last game of the regular season against KC, 4-2. Roy Oswalt in finally back in the rotation, which gives me a lot of hope for the oncoming playoff games. read more...

Dynasty Mode:

The Jays keep on rolling, even though I lost the latest game against the Rangers, 2-3. My pitching is more than solid and the offense is also starting to click. With a record of 81-47 the playoffs should be a done deal, but I don't think I'm gonna win the division title, as the Yankees are at a stunning 90-37! read more...

Update 09/01/2006:

Owner Mode:

Toronto Blue Jays win World Series!

At the end of a long and thrilling year, the Blue Jays have won the championship title. After four games vs. the Rangers (ALDS) and five games vs. the Red Sox (ALCS), my team had to face the Brew Crew in the WS. Despite trailing 1-3 after four games, I was able to come back and win the series in seven games. Here are the boxscores:

ALDS (vs. Texas):

Game 1 (W 16-2; Final score says it all...)

Game 2 (W 5-0; Gathright hits for the cycle)

Game 3 (L 2-4; Oswalt gets rocked in the first two innings)

Game 4 (W 2-1; Gathright's eighth-inning homerun decides the series)

ALCS (vs. Boston):

Game 1 (W 7-3; Three-run shot by Clark in the third)

Game 2 (L 0-12; What a nightmare!!!)

Game 3 (W 1-0; Stellar pitching shuts down Red Sox)

Game 4 (W 5-3; Clark homers twice)

Game 5 (W 5-2; Jays take series in five)

World Series (vs. Milwaukee):

Game 1 (L 0-2; Young hits two-run homer in the tenth)

Game 2 (W 8-4; Blalock hits walk-off grand slam in the 13th!!!)

Game 3 (L 3-5; Big fourth inning for the Brewers)

Game 4 (L 5-11; My bullpen gets absolutely crushed)

Game 5 (W 5-1; Oswalt dominates at Miller Park)

Game 6 (W 5-4; Jays hold on to early lead)

Game 7 (W 9-1; Slugfest in World Series finale - Toronto celebrates its triumph with four homers!!!)

MVP: Joey Gathright

Offseason moves:

Players released/traded: Manny Ramirez, Justin Morneau, Juan Encarnacion, Tony Clark, Armando Benitez

Players signed: Jason Bay, Erubiel Durazo, Geoff Jenkins, Brad Lidge

One season has ended, another one is about to start. Stay tuned...

Update 09/09/2006:

Dynasty Mode:

Although the Tigers are rollin' in real life, I own that team like no other in my Dynasty. The latest win over Detroit, 5-1, was the tenth in as many games in 2006. However, there are also some bad news: Vernon Wells (torn knee MCL - 125 days), Frank Catalanotto (minor MCL sprain - 6 days), and Josh Towers (fractured toe - 14 days) are all out with injuries. I've called up a couple of guys from AAA and so far they're doing pretty well, especially second baseman Julius Matos, who hit a three-run homer against the Tigers. read more...

Update 09/10/2006:

Owner Mode:

Wow! I just had one of the most exciting games ever! I was playing at U.S. Cellular Field, where I got rocked by the White Sox. After seven innings, my team trailed by ten runs. What happened then is simply beyond words... In the end, I lost the game 12-13, but I'm not really mad because it was so much fun. (Sorry for the messed up boxscore. Something must have gone wrong extracting it.) read more...

Update 10/02/2006:

Dynasty Mode:

The season is over, the postseason is here. The Blue Jays could not win 100 games, but thanks to the Wild Card spot, there'll be baseball action in October. The Indians won the final game of 2006 with a final score of 7-2. A.J. Burnett had a rough day, while C.C. Sabathia almost completely shut down my entire offense. read more...

Update 10/09/2006:

Dynasty Mode:

After a tremendous regular season, the Blue Jays advanced to the playoffs with a lot of confidence. Their opponent in the ALDS were the Texas Rangers who proved to be too strong for the Canadians.

ALDS (vs. Texas):

Game 1 (L 3-4; Strong finish by the Rangers)

Game 2 (W 3-1; Burnett shuts down Texas)

Game 3 (L 2-5; Millwood dominates Blue Jays)

Game 4 (L 5-12; Seven-run sixth too much for Toronto)

btw, the Yankees won the World Series (4-1 over Astros).

With the season being over, I won't continue this dynasty. It has been fun to play a real-time dynasty, but I'm not gonna wait until next year to continue with this. From now on, I'll concentrate on my Owner Mode and maybe start a new Dynasty with a fantasy team.

Update 10/12/2006:

Owner Mode:

It sure doesn't happen often, but when it does, it's the best feeling in the world... In my latest 4-3 win over the Twins, my alter ego, Xi Berger, hit a walk-off home run with two outs in the bottom the ninth inning. Victory wasn't just sweet, but also vital for staying alive in the division. I'm already five games behind Boston, and my pitching is far from being perfect at the moment. Hopefully this win will boost my team's confidence. read more...

Update 10/29/2006:

Owner Mode:

I'm at the All-Star break right now and my Blue Jays (54-35) are doing pretty good at the moment. In the latest 2-1 win over the Washington Nationals, Aaron Cook (ERA 3.62) recorded his eighth win of the season. Together with Roy Oswalt (11-2, ERA 2.39) and Kerry Wood (12-2, ERA 3.76), he's really carrying the enire team. Brad Lidge has improved over the last weeks, too. He now has got 20 saves on the year. btw, Oswalt, Wood, Blalock, and Gathright have been nominated for the AL All-Star team. read more...
