Off-Season complaints...

Am I the only one here experiencing a major reshuffle of my team's rosters by the CPU at the end of the off-season? I spent like an hour signing draft picks and free agents, re-ordering my rosters depth charts, rotations and line-ups only to have it all go to hell because the CPU decided to completely destroy all my hard work after clicking "Begin Spring Training". I had major leaguers on my AA team and A players on my major league team and everything in between. No where in the off-season did I let the CPU do anything as I prefer doing it all myself, so my question is... WTF? :? Anyone have a logical explanation?

Forgot to mention I also had a couple of players disappear too. This has pretty much ruined my MVP05 experience. It was bad enough with the lame owner mode, and now I recently discover how much dynasty mode is flawed. Man, this just really ticked me off. Uggh, what a freaking waste of time. I feel, cheated...

Everyone keeps complaining bout the rosters being reordered on them at the end of the season which to me is an utter waste of time in itself. Do major league teams set there rosters in stone at the end of the season for the following season...No, they do it when they start spring training. I have never had a problem setting my roster at the start of spring training and then updating it again at the start of the season. But I guess its EAs fault for expecting people to do like the MLB and setting up the roster at the start of a season instead of the end.

I usually do all my promotions and things before spring training due to the fact that the stats are lost for minor leaguers I find it very hard to put the people on the teams I originally decided before spring training.. I base decisions of rosters on the stats from the previous season not on EA's attributes formula.

EA even was keeping guys on their MLB rosters who had ERA's over 7 who were there from the start of the season on the MLB teams.

cybernetic brings up a good point. Also, it's not so much having to redo the rosters over. It's the simple fact that the CPU has to reorder the players teams. I'm sorry, but I don't want my A players on my major league club and I don't want my major leaguers on my AA club during spring training. It's a waste of the users time and is totally ridiculous, IMO. I signed the players I signed and where I signed them to for a reason, and that reason isn't for the CPU to jumble up my rosters and get rid of players I wanted to keep. It's lame any way you look at it.

well they obviously tried to make it simple so anyone could use it and not have to deal with making the rosters themselves but they really should've had an option so u could do it manually and disable that

Well I have never had any problem at all with that, even when I do "CPU Optomize Rosters" they never change anything too much that I cant fix without much effort. Maybe its only a PC problem as I play on XBOX.

I am currently just starting my 3rd year and had no problem, when I did "CPU Optimize" it only switched one of my backups to AAA which I left go cuz they were basically the same anyway.

I haven't had any major problems either when doing a "CPU Optimize". I always do one at the beginning of spring training and usually only have to make some minor adjustments to the get the rosters right after that. Certainly never had the computer put A players on the MLB roster or anything like that.

Argh this is so frustrating. I must have spent at least an hour and a half signing draft picks and free agents and then reorganizing my lineups only to have them "optimized" seconds later. It's like I spent all that time putting together an intricate jigsaw puzzle, only to have the computer say, "Yeah, that's nice, but how about this." and then completely screw it up. I've got my AAA starters pitching MLB relief, my MLB relievers pitching AAA, and that's the easy-to-fix part. AAA and below is a complete mess in terms of both batting and pitching. Ugh, this is going to take forever.

EA made formulas so that for example players in A ball will progress on a year-to-year basis and not have stuff that is good enough to reach the MLB the next year.. its all in the star power/top prospect ratings that is supposed to make the guy get better.. typically a power rating of 30 is enough for an A-ball player and a pitch command around 30 as well

Does anybody know if the "postitional rankings" (I think that's what it's called) have anything to do with this?

I've never set any of them, but if you did, then used the "CPU Optimize" thingy, would it adhere to your wishes?

Just a thought.

Thats a good idea. I will have to look at that and see if that does anything. If it does not fix the problem of the Computer setting your rosters for you for the next year I will need to find a diffrent game to play. I would like to play out several years or at least run the 30 years it says it will in owner mode with out it messing things up.

I didn't encounter this problem in my first off season because I went the 'Fire Sale' route :)

I got rid of almost everyone from my first season and went with MLB prospects and AAA guys, most of whom I didn't recognize by name. It wouldn't have mattered if the CPU shuffled things up because I wouldn't have really noticed.

I'm interested in hearing an explanation for the disappearing players. I've had a couple of quality A pitchers literally vanish from the game.

I'm thinking I can live with the reshuffling of my teams, as long as I can jot down a short list of who's suppose to be where before I advance into spring training. I can't help but get pissed though when I have to resign the same player twice because the CPU decided for me that a certain player should no longer be on my roster after I just resigned them. I mean, I'm taking a budget hit here everytime I have to do this, which happens with about 4 or 5 players (AA & A) each off-season.

spitoon: yeah it does

i use it often when i'm slightly reshuffling the minors and dont want to do it all myself.

its also handy if you want, say, daric barton © to play 1B instead of catch. the CPU will just do it.

I think this may solve alittle of the vanishing players, after my last season I was going through the retirements and I noticed I had a few of my decent minor leaguers were retiring because of "ablity". Which I think is total and complete bullshit because theres guys 20-21 years old that were starting for AAA clubs and retiring because of ablity. Might solve some of the vanishing players problems for ya guys.
