Ramon E. Martinez (newly aquired philly)

Recommended Posts

I like to keep things real so I just made the Polanco for Urbina and Martinez deal. When I looked at how bad his stats were I realized that loosing polanco is gonna suck. I though about it a little more and compared his stats to a few other people and I think everything but his offense is a bit off

Speed 45

The average catcher in the league is around 50. Todd Pratt a 35 yr old(maybe more) catcher is a 48. I know this is a bit of generalization but I highly doubt a utility infileder is that slow.

Defense 50

Generally Utility infileders are in the majors because they can play all positions, and do it somewhat well. Nothing spectacular, but steady and solid.

Has anyone ever seen him play, have a scouting report , cap and can either confirm or deny if these stats are accurate?

oh yeh, i've seen alot of Ramon Martinez... he IS horrible... her was with the Cubs for the past few years playing 2B, SS, & 3B a little bit... he can occassionally come through with a few nice hits and he's decent on defense, but he was Alex Gonzalez's backup at short and he wasn't even good, so you can imagine how bad Ramon is.

i thought Polanco was a lethal weapon for the Phillies, but i guess they're more focused on pitching now because the biggest part of that trade was Ugueth Urbina joining the club

I'd agree that he wasn't very good offensively, but he was decent defensively. I'd probably put his speed in the mid to high 60s, maybe even low 70s. Defense would probably be 70 or so. He didn't really make any mistakes on defense and made some 'web gems'.

When he was on the Cubs I always jacked up his speed. There were many occasions in real games where he pinch ran and stole some bags.
