The Art of Strikeouts

Ok.... What pitches are the best to have for strikeout pitchers on this game? What pitchers strike out batters best? I am wanting to create the ultimate strikeout king, so I am wondering what sort of advice you guys have.

I've found that a submarine delivery (style 10) pitcher with a 1-7 slow screwball is great. Also a 11-5 curve for this same submariner. Any advice from ya'll. I made his fastball slow, because the fastball is the worst for me. (In real life.... it's a lot different I know) Knucklers are good, but I need to figure out specifics, like speed and trajectory, because that makes a lot of difference on this game.

Try to avoid pitching up stairs. If you do have to go up stairs, throw something more off speed. I've learned my lesson the hard way throwing fastballs up in the zone. Plus I tend to get much more groundballs when throwing lower in the zone. Usually sliders and sinkers get the job done for me.

I usually mix up hard and soft and to get K's.. typically start off with a fastball on the outside corner then throw a cutter up and in and come back with an off-speed pitch on the outside corner.. it works pretty well against CPU hitters if u execute it right but if u miss and it's over the middle with a fastball it's usually a home run

A pitcher with a good slider on the low outside corner is nigh unhittable.

Work in and mix speeds to get the first two strikes, then finish him off.

I'd say it works 7 times out of ten.

That's not entirely accurate, as you can throw up in the zone, you just have to throw up, not in the middle. I'm talking about above the belt, I average about 6-7 K's per game with all my pitchers, and half come from high fastballs, or sharp breaking stuff high in the zone.

Typically I find it very hard for the CPU to hit pitches up and in.. I mean all the way up and in on the top inside corner not in a spot that they can get their hands around to hit cleanly

I don't throw high and away too much as the CPU hitter tend to slap it the other way against me

way outside like 3 inches off the plate they swing at those atleast 60% of the time on allstar

K. Thanks for that input. I have been using the aforementioned screwball on the up and right corner of plate. (With the righty pitcher) I like curve up and left. Slider down and left. Having lots of trouble with fastballs. Using slow pitchers with lots of breaking stuff instead.

What pitches are good at drawing swings and misses do you guys think? That slider low and away as been good for me..... Screwball up and right also.

I use a hard splitter and a slow knucklecurve. but you also need to change speeds a lot. Throw curveball low and in, then a change low and in and then a hard fastball away and its almost an automatic K

I usually use high fastball, just out of the zone, with less than three balls. Also, if the pitcher has a sinker, forker or splitter, go just below the strike zone to often nail them with that.

Well...... I'm trying to make a pitcher who is consistently a good strikeout guy. I think that delivery style impacts what trajectories you need and that impacts pitch effectiveness. I am trying to get the best combination of it all I can find.
