almost in AAA with Cesar Carillo ...... i gave up a bloop in the 7th with 2 outs, didnt get another hit after, so that 1 hitter is the closest.

O. Parez for the Pirates against the Cubs was the closest I've ever gotten. It was the bottom of the 9th with 2 outs facing Sammy Sosa. I quickly tossed two strikes and then threw 3 balls. I then threw a pitch just below the strike-zone and there was a check swing, and I saw that the batter HAD gone around, and the umpire says he didn't! I then removed Parez for a soon to be traded reliever, whom I thought even with a 8.23 ERA could get 1 out... I promptly give up a 2 run homer and lose the game 2-1.

The best performance I've ever had was a no-hitter by Carlos Zambrano. He got 16 Ks

Pedro Martinez pitched a no hitter for me against the Marlins, Matsui gave up 2 errors though before I replaced him.

Does having Tim Wakefield pitcher one against me count? lol I couldn't hit his knuckle ball to save my life. And any time did make contact with the ball, it was a weak grounder or a pop fly. :hic:

I've come close a few times this season going into the 8th... but haven't been able to come up with one recently.. probably because I turned off the strikezone and use the walkfix thing in a datafile is it's hard to pitch perfectly.

  • 3 weeks later...

Before tonight, I had NEVER gone past the 5th inning with either a perfect game or a no-hitter. Things changed tonight when I was playing as the Red Sox against the Phillies in Franchise Mode using 2006 schedules and rosters and on All-Star difficulty. I was pitching as Matt Clement (pretty weird it was with him considering what a head case he's been since joining the Sox). I always notice the no-hitter/perfect game possibility by the 5th inning and always seem to blow it because I get nervous. I can't help but think about it. But here, I just kept going. My heart was racing after I got through 7 innings. It was totally surreal. I kept getting groundball outs. So I get to the 9th, one out, and Jimmy Rollins slams one to right. But Trot Nixon saves the perfect game with a shoestring catch on the warning track. Unbelievable. So 2 outs, pitcher spot is up, and the Philies send up Rafael Palmeiro to pinch hit (signed through free agency). I try to pitch around him to make him swing at a bad pitch (slider in, sinker low) but he doesn't budge. I end up walking him on 4 pitches. Perfect game over. Fortunately I get Aaron Rowand to pop up to Clement to end the game and seal the no-hitter, still equally enjoyable for me. I'm not even mad I missed on the perfect game because this is still a nice feat.

Carl Pavano was one out away vs. the Tigers.

Chacon was an inning away vs. the Jays.

Mussina was two innings away vs. the Red Sox.

RJ was two innings away vs. the Mariners.

I just blew a perfect game by allowing the first batter in the 9th to get a hit! Argh, I was using, Corerria, a MRP/SP cause my SP (Wright) and my backup MRP/SP #1 (Hennessey) are on the DL. I was surprised I could even go that far with him.

PERFECTION: 10 INNINGS, 18Ks, No-Hitter with Andy P.(Hou)

I was playing online vs the Pirates. My buddy's starting pitcher had a 3 hit sutout after 9. Instant Classic. Neither one of use has ever been involved with a computer/console game that was a no-hitter. Reminds of the movie, "For the Love of the Game."
