emeyekayiee
what im trying to do is import the old expos PBP audio from MVP2004 to add to Expos4Ever's back to expos pack. i found the expos audio in the 2004 pdpdat.big and extracted files 7084-7089 with AsfImpExp.exe. next i found the nationals audio in the 2005 tnamedat.big and extracted files 432-445, again with AsfImpExp.exe (15.434 files in the 2004 pdpdat.big. took me so long to find what numbers the team names were. in 2005, they broke down the files into groups. 2130 files was not as difficult) i wrote down the size of all the files in bytes, varifing them in both AsfImpExp.exe and Hex Workshop. next i used SX.exe to convert all the files into wave files. i used the command line: "sx -wave -.wav filename.asf" i took note of what each file was, and matched them up, e.g., "the nationals lead" with "the expos lead". of the 14 matches, 6 of them had smaller expos files than the orginal nationals slot, so i can just add "00" 's at the end to match the byte size. however, for the other 8 i attempted to edit the wav files down by first chopping out some empty seconds and lowering the bit rate. i then ran: "sx -sndstream -.asf filename.wav" the new .asf was double the size. for example, the nationals asf 443 file is 8217 bits and the expos asf file is 8757. coverted the expos file to wav and got a 71 kb wav file. edited it down to 67kb, converted back to asf, and got a 19,780 bit asf file. i tried converting the wav into a mp3 file and got a 6720 bit mp3 file. converted back to asf with "sx -sndstream -.asf filename.mp3" and got a 21,952 bit asf file. even bigger than the wav conversion. now im stuck what im trying to do is lower the byte size of the expos asf file to fit into the nationals asf slot. what i am thinking that if there is nothing i can do with the byte size, the next step would be to edit the spch_pbp.txt, but i have yet to play with those files. some of you may suggest using the ditty importer to conver my wav to asf. however, my experience with it has shown that the PBP volume is drastically lowered when using the ditty importer. i tried searching the forums and theyve gotten me to this point, but didnt find anything to get me further. i hope there is a simple answer out there thanks for reading this novel of a post
UncleMo
did you get help on this? i have a similar situation where i converted .asf files of the crowd cheering. I converted them to .wav files. I then edited them by mixing in some cheering from FIFA 05. I then converted the wav file to .asf using the ditty importer. Now the file size does not match up. I did a couple of files and one is too short and one is too long. Any suggestions on matching them up? Do they need to be EXACT?
emeyekayiee
adding "00" to the end until the bytes match up will do it for files that are too short. as for the ones too long, you'd have to change the length of the sound, or the recording byte rate. as for my situation, ive been out of town, so i havent had time to work on the project
UncleMo
if it helps you may try using the wumchan to import files so that you won't have to worry about size of files. simply make sure that your file is shorter in terms of seconds that the one you're trying to overwrite so you won't hear that popping sound. the wumchan comes with a dat file that you may be able to edit. since i am no good at editing that stuff iansimcox may change the dat file for me so i can change the crowd4a.ast file instead of the default batdit.ast file. i bet it may help you there.... Not sure how to do this: "adding "00" to the end until the bytes match up will do it for files that are too short. as for the ones too long, you'd have to change the length of the sound, or the recording byte rate."
emeyekayiee
when i say adding 00, i mean add zeros using a hex editor http://yosuamedia.com/misc/MVP/audio.html
Expos4Ever
can you send me a copy of the .asf files for Nats and Expos?
