they dont even know what it's going to look like, completely, yet

What do you mean by that?

They just showed a ton of pictures of what it'll look like.

It's official and 100% starting, not a rumor.

I thought that both of the teams got denied funding under the Bloomberg era because he said that building new stadiums wasn't a priority for him.

Yankees are paying the whole $800 Million for the new Stadium, and the old one will be turned into a high-school/little-leauge/softball field, with the field remaining, possibly shift-able outfield walls. Actually a pretty great thing to do. I wouldn't mind being in the same CenterField Mickey Mantle was in...

Why don't they just gut out Yankee Stadium and make it more modern? Ex: Soldier Field

Why exactly would they wonna play in that purple toilet for 2~3 years?

This way we get a brand new stadium all-together to win a World Series in. The field in the old Stadium isn't as high quality what with all the World Series celebrations over there...

because that will basically force the yankees to play at Shea Stadium for 3 years.

also, the Mets will spend the entire cost of constructing the new Mets ballpark. New York will spend 100 million to convert the stadium to a track/field stadium if NYC gets the Olympics in 2012

I'm looking forward to hearing about this on tonight's broadcast. From the above picture, it looks as if there will be an overhang in center field, probably a restaurant or something. That, to me, seems insanely stupid.

The only thing I don't like is that the exterior wall and the stadium aren't connected.

Other than that, it kicks-***. I like how Monument Park is now in Center-field; a lot better than a random place like left-center. And the bleachers are now a lot closer. I just hope that Upper Deck isn't THAT steep like they accidentally did in U.S. Cellular Field.

I wonder who the Red Sox will trade to us so that guy can start another curse of the Sox and hit the game-winning homer in the new ballpark.

George just wants more luxury boxes. I am glad they're keeping the concept of Yankee Stadium though, and not that travesty they wanted to build in Manhattan.

They better bring the field over from the old place though, that's hallowed ground.......and not because of Alex Rodriguez or Gary Sheffield either.

Regards;

At the announcement, they said that they're bringing the field and monuments from Yankee Stadium I over to Yankee Stadium II.

They'll also prepare limos to bring the "ghosts" over...

Awful. Awful, awful, awful.

I'll hopefully be back later for a more thorough examination of why it sucks.

Dude, **** off.

I'm sick of hippie retards like you, nothing but a bunch of reatrder morons who don't even think before you post.

The stadium's foundation is almost 100 years old. The current one is pretty much **** fan-wise(sorry Babe), it's cramped, not very clean, and the concourses are small and you can't see the game from them. Buildings may last 100 years, stadiums with 58,000 cheering and jumping people don't. Remember that section of the Upper Deck falling back in April 1999? Aura? Mistique? 2004 pretty much erased that. Get real. The current one is old. To renovate it would cost even more, and we'd have to play at the Purple Toilet. The Yankees are paying for this anyways, so STFU.

Dude, [naughty word] off.

Thank you for showing again why you're just a dumb little twerp no one takes seriously. When even the Yankees fans think you're an idiot, you should start listening.

You swear despite Y4L telling you not to for months, type words like "reatrder", and post inane, worthless nothings every single time, and you're ragging on me? And where the heck did "hippie" come from? Are you just trying to come up with some sort of pejorative to bolster your case, or do you just admit to being a completely lamebrain?

The stadium's foundation is almost 100 years old.

What does that have to do with anything?

No argument there. It's horrendously ugly and is an aesthetic abomination.

Where did I ever post that i wanted to keep the current Yankee Stadium? It's ugly, very, very, very ugly, and has virtually no positives beyond seating capacity and "aura." However, this current design is almost equally ugly. It doesn't seem to capture any of the beauty of the original Yankee Stadium, the upper deck is ridiculously far from the field, the field layout is boring, the center field view is ugly, and the outer ring / inner ring concept is just.. fake. It has no fundamental design concept, failing to be old Yankee Stadium, or represent the best of the neoclassical school, or even representing a new, revolutionary way to design a baseball park. And even without nailing any of these, it doesn't seem like a nice place to see a baseball game, it seems to be an entity for removing the money from your wallet. It screams corporate without providing any of the beauty it should have.

I hate the Yankees, there's no argument there. But I know that the Yankee name used to mean something, and that should have been represented in their home for the 21st century. Instead, they got a bland, pretty much inoffensive structure that has no aesthetic benefits.

Honestly, the park it most reminds me of is the proposed Montreal park. And that certainly is no compliment.

New Yankee Stadium should've been so much more.
