bigbully & big shmooz THANK YOU

I got it to work too.

Cool. I am glad I was able to help. I try to type out extremely detailed instructions on a literal step by step basis of how I do it. That way even novices can follow & do it. I wish everybody would be this detailed. I think then that there would be no need to explain things over & over again to people. Rather, it would be completely understood the first time.

i have a quick question. I downloaded the nori nakamura cyberface and their was a folder in their for his portrait. Now i know how to do the whole alpha ..mvpedit technique because thats how i did the whole Padre A-AAA teams. But the problem is, im way over the 3000 portraits that causes the GFX pack to mess up. So what is the other way that i can add his portrait?

edit - so big schmooz let me get this right...u back up your current portraits.big. then insert an older version, and add that pic, then reput it your backed up file?

Yes... that way my portrait.big is under 2,999 files & gfxpak doesn't crash.

Actually to make myself clearer... When I am going into mvpedit to make the picture .fsh I put in the orginal portrait.big file into the frontend folder. Then I open MVP edit & allow it to display portraits. I then double click on the portrait area in mvp edit. It then opens a new window where you insert both the regular bitmap & also the alpha bitmap. I then click ok. That's it. However as the portrait.big file that is currenly being used is not the actual one I use when I play the game, I have the additional job of getting the newly created fsh file into the portrait.big file that I do use when I play.

In order to do this, I have to get a hold of the .fsh file which was just made. I do this by going to the mvpedit folder in windows explorer. As long as you do not shut down the mvp edit program, the fsh file will still be in that folder. I then copy it to another location. Then I can shut down the mvp edit program. Then I put back in my portrait.big file that I use when I play, back to the fronend folder.

I then compress the .fsh file with eazip.exe (using a batch file I made)

Then I take eagraph.exe & insert the fsh file I saved from the mvp edit folder.

That's it. I hope this explains it well :)

In order for you to get it to display, you should have the data folder open, not the databse folder.

Also, it will not display at all no matter what you do if you have 3000 or more files in your portrait.big.

i need help, for some reason or another i can't seem to compress the file

Did you use eazip to try to compress? If not, download these files I am attaching & put them in the same folder as your portrait file.

Double click on the install.bat file & it will compress your portrait.

ok, i was able to compress it, but when i tried to view the pic in-game, it just crashed on me so i'll tell you what i did and i was wondering if you could tell me what i did wrong:

- i took a 128x128 pic and with ms paint just removed anything that wasn't gustavo chacin (the player i'm making a portrait of), and then saved it.

- opened up fshed and in there put the chacin.bmp with the blank8.bmp then saved it as 1596.fsh

- i then opened 1596.fsh with nfshtool but when i did that this is exactly what it said:

FSH data <131136 bytes>.

Unpacking to directory C:Program FilesMVPedit1596

SHPI 2 objects, tag GIMX

No global palette.

'????' [7D] -> '0000.BMP' <128x128> <alpha: 0000-a.BMP> 32 bit <8:8:8:8>

<attached: dataAttached data too large !

Unseccessful termination. See README.TXT for more details.

Press Enter to exit.

- a new folder was created however with chacin's pic (0000.bmp), the blank pic (0000-a.bmp) and a index.fsh file so i thought nothing of the error screen

- i opened mvpedit and already saw the chacin photo there so left it (the picture had a white background if that makes a difference).

- opened eagraph and imported the 1596.fsh file

- compressed the 1596.fsh file that was in the mvpedit folder

- tried to view the picture in-game but game crashed

I think you may have picked the wrong alpha. The error told you that you had a 32 bit alpha. That is why I am saying that. This time try again & make sure you pick the blank8.bmp

Ok... so when you double click on the player (yourself) that you are looking to insert into MVPEdit & it opens up the double screen & you navigate on the left screen to your bitmap photo & you choose it, it does not display it in the left open screen of MVPEdit? Is your bitmap set at 128 x 128?

it actully does show up on the screen on the right when the double screen comes up when i add it... should I be adding it to new alpha insted?

it seems to take it, but when i click on another free agent then click back to my guy, he just has a blank white pic, it doesnt even say "no picture found"

You are supposed to add the bitmap to the left screen, not the right. The right screen is where you are supposed to add the alpha bitmap.

YES...... got it to work!!!!! thanks again....... btw love your rosters

I do have a quick question, how do I get the backround of my pic to be the same as the rest of the players on the game, I just have a plain white backround... Thanks
